Which pre '99 EU Book is this?

I remember a scene at the beginning of an EU book where Leia finds Luke hanging out on Coruscant in Darth Vader's secret castle bemoaning the fact that he's now too close to the Force to go off and do anything irresponsible like have an adventure.

At least that's my memory of it.

Does anyone know what book this in?  I thought it might be the beginning of the Black Fleet Crisis or the Corellian Trilogy, but I just checked those and I didn't find this this scene.

Thanks!

I thinks its the black fleet crisis by Michael Kube Mcdowell. Which also dealt pre phantom menace for Luke's search for his mother prior to Lucas creation of Padme?  Did padme exist in 1996?

She was supposed to have been a member of the fallanasi people.

I just checked my copy of Before the Storm... I think Luke's first appearance is in chapter 2 and he's at the Academy on Yavin.  It wouldn't be later in the series, would it?

I checked books 2 and 3. Book 2 is the odd one where the different characters get different sections of the book. That is to say that the first 120ish pages are about Lando and whomever is with him. Luke is in section 2, but it starts with him already in the thick of things. Book 3 starts with Luke on some freighter on his way to somewhere. (Amazing, my attenion to detail!) So I think I've ruled out Black Fleet Crisis. I also cracked Crystal Star, which starts with the Solo kids being kidnapped, so I thouhgt it might be that one. But Luke magically appears on the MF for his first appearance in the book. So, no dice.

It must be in Before the Storm.  It's just not at the beginning.  Which is my memory playing tricks on me again.

For a minute there, I was worried I'd have to go to theforce.net.  :)

The scene starts on page 65 of the 1996 paperback Black Fleet Crisis 1: Before the Storm.  Han goes to visit Luke in Vader's Magical Shrinking Happy Family Castle (not really called that, but close enough) and Luke explains why Yoda and Ben were hermits and how they were so powerful in the Force that they couldn't take out Vader or Palpatine because it would be too close to the Dark Side to exert their powerful will on the Universe that way.

Interesting stuff.

Oh, and thanks skyjedi for jogging my memory and insisting it was Black Fleet Crisis even when I had already checked it.
