A comment by Gaffer in the Star Wars section reminded me that many Americans have never travelled outside of the US. Rather than get flamed for continuing to discuss this with Gaffer in a Star Wars thread, I decided to start this one.
So, in my life so far, I have been to (this list includes only places I have actually visited and spent time in, i.e not just a layover on an airplane):

Well, yeah, that's true, but even comparing states in the country of the United States to countries in the continent of Europe, I still come out embarrassingly short!

You've been to a lot of places THX. Any favourites (or least favourites)?
Gaff, I have always been poor too, but I decided I just had to see the world. I saved and saved and saved, then sold my car, then took off. I came back penniless (thank God for parents letting me move back in with them), but I did find my wife on my travels, and now I live in the USA, so I guess it worked out. Still poor though...

That reminds me, just out of curiosity, has the price of gas (or petrol) risen as dramatically in Europe as it has over here (although I guess in Mississippi it's comparatively cheap to other places in the country)?

I waited till I finished my Batchelors to go to the USA, but I done most of my European travelling before or during university. Czech Republic and Austria were Art College Trips, Italy I have been to with family, alone and also with my wife (Venice). France was also with family but I have been back since with friends. Turkey was with my wife (her idea actually, I didn't want to go). Greece was with friends when I was 18, and Holland (Amsterdam) was during University, also with friends. Canada (East Coast) was tagged onto my first USA trip and the West coast of Canada was tagged onto a subsequent visit to the USA. Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium were all visited on the way to other places (driving across Europe).

I haven't been in England for almost a month, but last time I filled up it was about 99p a litre.

Well, conversion is tricky, because from a bank currency exchange POV, one pound is worth about 1.85 dollars. But since I have been in the staes I can see that although my pounds almost doubled when I changed it into dollars, that doesn't neccesarily mean I am richer, because while a snickers bar might cost 50p in England, it costs about 85 cents here, so there's no real difference.
But from a bank perspective, Gas is about 1.85 a litre in the UK, and there are rougly 4 litres in a gallon, so we're talking $7.40 a gallon.

But like I said, conversion is a tricky one. Judging by prices of other goods in the UK compared to American prices, I would say that it equates to roughly $5 a gallon, which is still more expensive than here.
Why do the English pay more for gas than everywhere else? Mainly because of the taxman. almost 50 percent is fuel tax, plus there's a sales tax (which we in England call VAT - Value added tax) which stands at 17.5% on EVERYTHING we buy, including food.
