What set of the official retail releases to buy, so I can acquire fan projects?

Hi I’m epso-sage. I am newer here and am finally trying to get everything download and ready to view but I want to be legal and I am trying to see what copy I can buy to make that happen.
This is the I-VI set

But it is not listed under the TUIG and just wanted to see if anyone knows if this will work. It’s the same price as the IV-VI Blu Ray set so that’s a big deal.
Thanks in advance.

With the new Skywalker set available now does it matter if your getting the physical or digital set. And also sd, hd, UHD set? Just want to be legal and all.

The version you linked will be fine for all current PT/OT projects.

I recommend waiting a short time for the 9 movie collection (either 4k & BR or just BR).

As ChainsawAsh stated - ‘The version you linked will be fine for all current Prequel Trilogy & Original Trilogy projects’.

IF you’d like to acquire Sequel Trilogy projects too… then yotsuya’s recommendation of the ‘Skywalker Saga’ set on blu ray will suffice - or buy the Sequel Trilogy blu rays individually - whichever you prefer.

(If you have a 4K tv then you may wish to opt for the 4K UHD versions of the films? It is up to you.)

‘No 6. Before obtaining any fan edits, you must be in ownership of the official retail release.’

^ So owning the official digital downloads of the films is also acceptable for acquiring the respective fan projects too.

I wonder how many years it will be before editors will start using 4K UHD quality discs as sources for their projects on here? And we’ll be required to own the 4K version of films to obtain fan projects.

I imagine it will be some time away given the cost of high-end hardware required, and also software limitations, as well as the considerably more time it would take to complete projects. Not to mention the storage and uploading issues/possible costs involved.

Blu-rays for the win for some time yet to come 😃
