It says to wait for "Walk"--but the lightsign is not "Walk", it is a person walking.

Good job.

Few things struck me when I saw this:

1. If the walking man is supposed to be a "universal" sign for walk, why do you need a sign that tells you to wait for walk?

2. If a person cannot read (English), and needs the walking man, how on god's green Earth is he going to read the sign to know that he needs to wait?

3. As Chaltab suggested, the "WALK" sign isn't there. Only the walking man. How long is someone going to wait for "WALK" before they realize its not coming?

Well, that would be a good explanation, except that I've seen only 1 other "Wait for Walk" sign in the entire city...near the college campus I used to attend.
If it was the result of a lawsuit, the city would cover its butt by posting the signs at every intersection with a traffic light in the city...and they simply aren't there.

I still say this looks like the work of lawyers.

Maybe the city had a surplus of those signs with the guy walking, and when they added those "wait for walk" signs, they hadnt considered the wasted money. So they used the left over signs of the guy walking. Or maybe vice versa, or maybe the "wait for walk" signs were added later. Or maybe the explanation is this: "Mice are telepathic. Everything is made of mice."

I had this photo taken in Spain in a "left-right-only" intersection, with two "wrong way" signs, each pointing to a different direction, I'll see if I can put the image here. What could you do if you see such sign, except going back?

In Jacksonville Florida, (I think) there are roadsigns all over the place that say

Vehicles must yeild to pedestrians. Fine: 75 Dollars.

Personally, I don't see this being the fault of lawyers. I see it being the fault of engineers. I have seen so many f'd up creations by modern engineers, it's not funny.

Funny sight I wish I had a picture of is a Taco Bell back in my college town that, once you've pulled around and placed your order, you wind up at the drive-thru window via the passenger side of your car. What do you do if you have no passenger? Some planning, eh? Not necessarily an engineer's fault here. More like a piss-poor architect, but I blamed it on engineering graduates from my school just to spite them.

Sure! Blame the lawyers! We're not all f#$%^g ambulance chasers; that happens to be only a segment of the general lawyer population, admittedly the one that gets the most press, but still....

I'm not bitter. Really.

Unfortunately, though, the minority which are ambulance chasers are very vocal and overexposed and ruin the perception of your profession. You gotta admit. It's sad, though, because I do believe that not all lawyers are bad.

Its really funny, but its true. However, its mostly in residential areas. I haven't seen one of those signs in a place that doesnt make sense. (I live in Jax)

LOL, that seems rediculous! But hell, they just changed the law here in Jacksonville and they added a $25 road construction fee onto all speeding tickets. I dont mind that, I think its very sensible. Still $535, holy balls!

I've always wondered about the "No dogs except seeing-eye dogs" signs. Is that qualification for the blind person or the dog?

Also, where I grew up (in San Diego) there was a big sign that said "Drive Thru Parking". I never worked out what they intended by that.
If you're going to take forever, then I'm having a hotdog!
