I seriously want to reupholster it in black leather and tint the windows.

Hey, I already wear suits and Ray-Bans, why not have the car to go with the look?

You actually walk around in a suit for no reason except to look sharp? That is so f**king cool.

War does not make one great.

Hell yes I do.

As soon as I cash my paycheck next week, I'm finally going to get the suit I've always wanted.

Its a tad expensive, but I've been saving up forever.

Dammit, Rikter, you're making me jealous again. If I have to go out west when I get another Z, I'm gonna make it a point to swing by your neck of the woods and take a few runs on Sandia Peak.

- I'd be more then happy to go up with you!!

Also would you want me to find you a rust-free Z project car??

With any luck at all, by the end of the summer I'll get my helical diff installed, rear suspension rebuilt, and maybe a one-piece driveshaft to boot. Fewer parts + 25-40% weight reduction = woo-hoo! Once the suspension's done and aligned, I've got a very slightly used set of Hankook RSS Z211 stickies to play with. It's awesome having a local source for cheap race tires...

MAN, I miss having the cash to build-up my cars, I'd auto-X again if I could afford tires!

Absolutely, but I'm nowhere near ready to pull the trigger on it. That's probably 3 to 5 years out.

The sad thing is, the diff and suspension bits have literally been sitting in my garage for over 2 years. And when I said I had a local source for cheap race rubber, I meant it. Six of those Hankooks, which all have 75+% tread left, cost me $100 and a season's worth of homemade F1 DVDs.

- Well, being as I will have the room to store another car soon and IF I can find a Z around town for little or no $ (the last Z car was givin to me - IF I moved itr out of the yard ) I'll grab one and store it for a while (= a year or two) but before I start the casual search I'll need to move a B210 parts car to the JY and get my 610, two 1200's and my HL510 parts cars here for stripping ("breaking" for you UK folks )

BUMP!

I drive this (my mom's car)

Obviously this isn't my actual vehicle, it's a picture I found on google images.
The one I drive is dirty and dented from multiple accidents. It's a miracle it still works at all (well, we did replace the engine)
You know the saying "that thing handles like a shopping cart" ?
Well this thing is actually worse! I adjusted to its crap factor eventually, but a couple of friends of mine who've tried it say it is hell to control.

Add to that weak brakes, a constant need to fill the radiator with water, upholstery and other various doodads falling apart more and more as time passes, and you've got yourself a sweet little Shitmobile. :)

Living in GErmany, I see no point driving an american car.

First: they use too much fuel. In Germany a Liter Gasoline costs about € 1.60 (As long as you don't use Diesel, which is a bit cheaper)

Second: Last Winter there were about -20° Celsius. Some Amerian cars gets trouble with that.

SO I am happy to drive in summer a 1990 VW Golf 1 Convertible and in winter a 1992 normal VW Golf 2 which had no trouble starting at -20° Celsius

plymouth duster-> subaru station wagon [5 speed]->

ford tempo->chrysler k-car -> nissan sentra  [5 speed]->

dodge ram 1500-> 1991 toyota corrola [5 speed]

i prefer manual stick shift over automatic anyday.

also, the older the better the car. don't need

fancy electronics, computers, or distractions.

i don't think i'll ever buy a new car again,

i'll stick with old used ones! i alternate

between american and foreign cars.

but japanese ones seem to be cool.

1987 Acura Integra LS 4 door white with light blue interior. This isn't my photo, and this one's in a lot better cosmetic shape.

The 4 door version is much rarer than the 2 door.  Mine has a broken a/c, headliner nearly gone, slow gas gauge, power windows that act up, broken stereo and cassette, but still this is the best car I've ever driven. It was my first car and I keep coming back to it. (Plus it doesn't die!) Modern cars always make me feel awkward when driving them, I don't know if it's because I have a weird frame or head or something but I just can't stand driving them. Then there's all the plastics they use nowadays that constantly off-gas and give me a massive headache.

The funniest quirk is that the right flip up light is broken so that it always stays up, as if it's winking permanently. At one point I attached some pieces of black paper and felt to look like eyelashes. ;)

Over 215K and she still purrs and gets good mileage. And this is with an automatic too. (Not that I'm any good with stick, but I've never had the opportunity to really practice.) Great grip, power steering is fantastic which always gives me the impression that she's very nimble, and surprisingly for a 25 year old car pretty quick acceleration.

It also helps that this is the same car driven by Chow Yun-fat in The Killer. (That was a head explode moment when I realized this. though it was the Japanese version with the Honda branding.)

I did name her, and like a ship it had to be a she. The name is because of the personality and origin. Akiko or Aki for short. Yes, I named my car after a Bond girl. Go figure.
