ROTS: What REALLY Pisses Me Off

Author
Time
 (Edited)

I was forced to see the movie by my dad and brother.

Beyond everything else, INCLUDING the BLATANT references to real world events, the thing that pissed me off the most:

BAIL ORGANA AS A FUGGIN SENATOR!!!

Damn Lucas and his fucking political correctness!

Organa is supposed to be the KING of Alderan not some 2-bit elected official piece of shit!!!

How the hell is Princess Leia princess Leia now???

Star Wars is supposed to be a space fantasy, (hence all the magic and mysticism) and in fantasy worlds, Kingdoms are always good and empires are always evil.

But NOOO!!!

Lucas has to be a Yuppy liberal dipshit and say that ANYONE who is a “ruler” and not a member of Democracy is automatically a bad guy and so he CHANGES THE STORY I GREW UP WITH to please those damn bleeding hearts!

George Lucas, you changed my childhood into a Japanese Schoolgirl, and sent a raging tentacle beast after her. Thanks a lot, you can die of gonhorea and burn in hell.

Fine, mister Lucas, while you're at it why dont you replace Lando with will smith?

Now, I'm using my memory, which is not like a steel-trap, but Bail was always a Senator.

As I recall, Bail was the Senator from Alderaan until Leia became old enough to take his place, then he became the Viceroy of the planet.

Let me hop on CUSWE and check:
I was slightly wrong:
Quote

After a lot of political backstabbing and lobbying, the Old Republic was called in and, with the help of the Jedi Knights, finally decided that the Organa family were the rightful successors to the seat of Viceroy. When Bail assumed the title of Viceroy and First Chairman of Alderaan, he also gained a seat on the Imperial Senate, and was soon engrossed in the new form of politics being played by Senator Palpatine and his supporters.
So he was both until Leia was became Senator.

I should also point out that in Ep1, 'Queen' Amidala was elected.

You are applying Earth (actually, they sound more like American) standards to that of the rest of the "galaxy". Nothing in Star Wars says that every world must comply with our political standards.

If you really want to make insinuations about Lucas' political motiviations, point out that the name of the "evil" leader of the Trade Federation is Nute (Newt, as in Gingrich) Gunray (reversed Raygun...or Reagan).

You know....I really hate that shit. If you want to make a political statement, then go on CNN and say it. If you want to work it into a movie, then do so, but keep it vague.

Nute Gunray my ass....more like NO ORIGINALITY to me!!!!

At least the bastard Gunray got what he deserved in ep3.

Look, changing Organa to a senator makes Leia's position as a princess kind of meaningless.

Kings are cool, politicians are gay.
That is the reason this pisses me off.

also, i JUST now realized the Reagan thing. Now im even more pissed off.
He mocks the dead. Damn him.

I think you missed it...he was never a "king" and he always held both titles (until Leia becomes senator). Nothing was changed by Lucas.

Ok. So, Kam. Other than what you see as rampant liberalism, how did you like Episode III?

I didn't like it period.

It had utterly no saving graces.

Agreed. This is a non-issue.

"Kings are cool, politicians are gay.

Am I to guess that you believe Lucas knows this about you, and so made these choices on purpose?

"also, i JUST now realized the Reagan thing. Now im even more pissed off.

Uhm, Gunray was introduced in TPM.....IN 1999
Ronald Reagon died............................IN 2004.

He was mocking the living, not the dead. Hate the films, hate the man, but stop pulling these BS reasons out of your butt, as it merely points out your complete disregard for the facts. The only one pissing you off is yourself.

Next, you'll be saying Jackson named his film "The Two Towers" to capitalize on 9/11. :roll eyes:

In the 18 - 20 year gap between episode 3 and 4, it's safe to say that Bail Organa could have become a King by then.

Also, there are no "blatant refrences to real world events." That's just media bullshit feeding you more political crap. I honestly doubt Lucas had George W. Bush in mind when he wrote the part of Darth Vader.

"it's safe to say that Bail Organa could have become a King by then."

It's even safer to say that this particular character description is completely unnecessary to the plot one way or another.

That being said, he did appear to look rather "regal" in ROTS, and his standing in the Senate would really have no bearing on his political state on his homeworld. Why couldn't the king - or one of the kings - of Alderaan also be a galactic senator? Perhaps someone was just too darned angry to bother contemplating such a concept...

that bastard

seriously though, like MeBeJedi said in his post after that. Just because the planet is ruled by a King doesnt necessarily preclude them from being part of the Republic and having a representative (Senator) of their choosing (the 'Kings' choosing in this case) in said Republic. Plus, as was said earlier, everything i remember had him as a senator before the PT came out. either he or Leia was a member of the imperial senate during ANH before it was dissolved.

like said elsewhere. what blatant real world refrences?

and where did that Gunray - Reagan crap come from? who made that up, this is the first ive heard of it and Gunray is not raygun backwards...its yarnug which sounds like absolutley nothing.

Oh, and Jaster, i think Lucas did have George W. in mind when he created Vader 28 years ago

"I was wondering why no one ever brought it up!!!!!!!!!!"

Would you believe there were at least two internet petitions to get Jackson to change the name for this very reason.
