Or Howard the Duck. I understand they’re fairly analogous.
My time turner only lasts five minutes. Is that enough? I figure we could give a VHS copy of ROTS to young Jay before he becomes a Star Wars fan.

Oh my God, what hellscape have I created? Somehow, the tape, it made it back to Lucas. It gave him ideas, made him think it was his plan all along. You used to be able to watch the original trilogy. No really, listen to me! You could… you could go to a store, buy the trilogy, watch it on TV, stream it, whatever you like. In the other world, the way it used to be. This site, it used to be full of cheerful Star Wars fans who just didn’t particularly like the prequels. Harmy got elected to the European Parliament because he had so much free time on his hands. Oh, I’m so sorry… What have I done?
Does anyone have another time turner?
I’m please to see we’re back on track, even if it meant we had to lose access to Star Wars in order to do so.
Which movie has an overlong sequence on Tatooine, toyetic alien species, a character introduced in the second half that destroys the evil organization, a climatic space battle centered around destroying a space station coinciding with a land battle, and an idiotic plot twist linking two previously unrelated characters?
Hint: it’s not The Phantom Menace.
Hmmmm…
The Force Awakens?
The truth is that SW and ESB are great, while the rest is crap.
There, I fixed it for you.
Any alteration of the truth makes it untruth.
Jedi crashed the franchise less than ten years in. That’s common knowledge.
Common knowledge doesn’t necessary equal to the truth.
You want that to be true so badly…
Well, technically that single sentence is true…even if it’s a poorly constructed sentence.

Taken out of context it sure is.

What the hell are you talking about?

TPM & ROTJ are basically the same film; it just puzzles me now that people were so disappointed with the former in ruining SW when they saw the exact same movie sixteen years earlier.
CatBus, it didn’t work.
They were like that in the alternate timeline too. They’re a fixed point in time and space. That’s why it’s so hard to look at what they write.
Well thanks for nothing.
He does have a point.
Though ROTJ has a very good Mark Hamill performance and the Threepio actually does something.
He has a point that is wrong.
真実
I remember when AOTC came out, it was hailed as the “best since Empire” in People magazine; audiences on Acess Hollywood were saying it was good and reversed the trend set by TPM.
Now it’s considered possibly the worst entry in the franchise. It’s that scene on Endor between Luke & Leia stretched to two hours.
Only with less believable sexual tension.
Well thanks for nothing.
I aim to please. But I miss a lot.
Jedi is arguably the most important film in the franchise. It proved that ESB was going to be the anomaly of the series, that selling toys was going to be the central aspect from now on, it confirmed that Anakin/Vader were the same person and the story would become focused on him as the central protagonist, and that hype would always trump actual quality. So I’m not wrong in saying Jedi is as essential as the rest of the OT.

You’re seriously making an argument with People magazine and Access Hollywood as your basis?

I automatically read this to the tune of “The Candy Man”.

Think about it:
Boba Fett= Darth Maul
Speeder Bikes=Podrace
Ewoks=Gungans
Rancor=Naboo sea monsters
Anakin is Leia’s father=Anakin builds C3PO
Death Star II=Droid Control Ship
Plus, the opening shots after opening crawl in both movies are virtually identical

I didn’t believe I would locate it, but locate it I did.

Yes I’m okay. I’m just demonstrating how the nosedive of quality in the SW franchise happened so fast and so much sooner than generally believed. I have never seen a film series that went from ten to zero in the space of three years.
