Think of how cool a Boba Fett movie would be if it was more or less like an intergalactic version of last year's Dredd (without the blood obviously/unfortunately).

I'm kind of dreading the inevitable Boba Fett film.  They already ruined him in the PT.  If George wanted Boba Fett in the prequels, then he should have just used Boba Fett - no need to ever unmask him and ruin his mystique.

But if they absolutely have to make a BF film, then a "Dredd-ish" type movie could actually end up being decent.  But I doubt we will get anything like that.  I'm sure it will be an origin story.

“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” - George Lucas

I'd prefer if the one-offs were just that- One-off stories about characters and places we haven't seen and not prequels or origin stories about characters we already know.

Ah, a Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina sort of job?

Or the Star Wars Tales comics?

That could be pretty good.  There are some decent stories in those books.

But then again, we could be treated to the saga of how IG-88 became DSII.

Or R5-D4- the Jedi Astromech droid who saved the galaxy- by shorting out his perfectly fine motivator.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

That'd be cool.

I'd also like an entire 3-hour-long movie devoted to IG-88.

:-D

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I was thinking the same thing.  I would love to see a feature-length film of Hammertong. Great characters, Shada and Karoly.  A wonderful introduction to just how well Zahn handles Star Wars

One of the things I found really great was just how little some of those stories intersected that one scene from 1977. For a few of the stories in that book, that brief moment where they are in the cantina could be really interesting to see. They could be character cameos or even peripheral, in-the-background shots.

In Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes there are a few scenes like that.  Calling back to the first film, yet so subtle they could be missed.

I'm waiting for Papatine's origine story, where we'll learn how a funny and smart little boy he was, before a Jedi accidentally killed his father during a fight against a Sith Lord.

Poor little Palpy will then learn the way of the Force to destroy the Jedi. "All of them!!!". So it will rhyme when he says that in TPM. It'll be like poetry.

He will learn his powers from Darth Plagueis who, at one point, will see that Palpy is getting stronger than him. So he'll ask the help of the Jedi. A union between a Sith Lord and the Jedi against young Palpy. But Palpy found out about this betrayal and killed his master during his sleep. (poetry again!)

But then Palpy is killed at the end. But wait, no! It created a clone of himself before. So the Palpatine we see in the OT is actulay already a clone of the REAL Palpatine that we finaly see in this origine story. So that movie really brings some new perspective to the overall story....

Or not.

How about the Obi-Wan film from the OP, but with a twist: he's one of two leads.

The film starts with Obi-Wan Ben explaining to a reluctant Owen that he must take care of Luke. Flash-foward a bit (ten years) and we get to see Luke meet Ben for the first time. He comes back home late, and Owen chastises him. Rebellious Luke decides to stay out late again, and as he comes home he is kidnapped by sand people. Owen finds out and goes to Ben for help. They set out on a quest through the dunes and caverns of Tatooine, building an understanding of each other along the way.

Once they get to the camp Luke's held at, Ben goes for peaceful methods while Owen engages in bare-knuckled Tusken beat downs. Luke is saved, and Ben and Owen have one final discussion before they part. Ben says one day he will need to teach Luke the ways of the force. Owen vehemently disagrees. He says he knows what happened to his step brother, and that it will never happen to Luke. Ben ignores the comment, says "May the Force be with you," and starts off. Owen takes Luke by the hand. Ben and Owen walk into the sunsets, heading in different directions.

Would be a great vehicle for Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton. Also Owen's fists would finally get the respect they deserve.

I wouldn't mind seeing Alan Moore's Star Wars comics adapted into an animated anthology film.

What about an origin story focusing on Vader's armour polish? Is that okay?

A movie about Darth Maul, in TPM we get absolutely zero backstory and build-up as to who this guy even is, with such a great looking villain, I just wanna see more of him.

I was rather impressed by the Republic Commando game opening FMV.

It got me thinking about M*A*S*H which was both funny and at times full of pathos and political commentary.

There might be something in doing a story set in a field hospital during the OT period.

You could have human and alien doctors and nurses as well as medical droids.

Some of them may have served under the Republic and others under the Separatists, some may be former Imperial combat surgeons who ran away after witnessing medical experiments.

It could be at times lighthearted and at times really dark.

I'd watch it if 2-1B was in drag.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie about Yoda, since there is so much to tell about him and it would be possible to make a movie of him without touching on existing EU material and stuff from the movies. The deleted Dagobah scene from ROTS could be used near the end... But I have a feeling that he would lose too much of his mystery and the movie would be badly done.

I wouldn't mind something from between the Old Republic Era and the PT since it isn't touched on much in the Star Wars universe.

I would find it really interesting if a story of one of the background characters was made into a movie and included a shot from one of the existing movies (not an identical shot of course, but one from their perspective). This could be someone in the cantina in ANH, one of the podracers, a rebel, or pretty much anybody.

The story of the Millennium Falcon could make a good movie, aside from the fact that it is already in novel form and not a bad novel either.

I almost wish we just ended up with several stand-alone films and nothing directly related to the other six movies. Too many loose ends were tied up in ROTJ for the next three movies to tie in well.

Here's another idea I have for a possible film.

In the centuries between the Great Hyperspace War and the Sith War, a Jedi lieutenant known as Lord Cawdor serves the king of a backwater world recently admitted into the Republic, tasked with hunting down remnants of the Sith believed to be hiding on the planet. After he and his apprentice track down a trio of darkside sorceresses, Fawdor receives a prophecy that the current king will soon die and he, Fawdor, will rise to take his place. Hearing this news, Fawdor begins to hunger for the throne of his king, and under the manipulative influence of his ambitious wife, he eventually arranges for the death of his master. Once upon the throne, however, Fawdor finds himself a victim of both his own conscience and the slain king's vengeful son.

(Yes, this is basically just a cross between MacBeth and Hamlet placed in a Star Wars setting).

Whatever story and character they choose, they need to visit Alderaan. I want to learn about its peaceful peoples, its culture, and beauty. Because that would be a tragic sort of nostalgia. It would retroactively make ANH more incredible.

Let's see Bail Organa raise his daughter. What was their dynamic like? How did she learn to become so headstrong, but idealistic? She resisted high-grade Imperial torture, for goodness' sake.

I see your Shakespearean influence and raise you: I had an idea to draw inspiration from Mists of Avalon for fanfiction. Aaand I did.

They should not use the "Star Wars" title for the spin-offs. The "Star Wars" title could result in expectations that don't fit the spin-offs. "Star Wars" should be equivilant to "The Avengers", not to "Marvel universe".

Example: if they're to make a movie about Boba Fett, the title of the movie should simply be "Boba Fett".

That ship sailed a long time ago when Lucas decided to slap the "Star Wars: Episode V" tag on TESB.

I would love a movie about the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Mon Mothma could be the protagonist.
