Watching with my fiancee — Page 2

Wow, within 16 hours or posting last I got this many responses! Well, unfortunately there is repeated Jimbo rudeness. Jimbo it certainly is out of line to ask about how she is in bed. she is very beautiful and I am lucky to have her, thanks for all the positive comments from other posters. I thought this would be an interesting thread not only because it is indeed the love of my life that is interested in Star Wars and thinking about it on a philosophical level, but also that she is new to it and what is old and "original" to her is not gospel and is not necessarily better, simply because it was original. So I was curious to see what she thought was better when comparing the two. Like I said she puts the OT in the same order we all do 1. TESB 2.ANH 3. ROTJ She likes the MF edits over the I & II lucas put out. She disliked most of the changes lucas made, except cosmetic ones. She liked when I explained the deleted scenes with Luke and Biggs. Again, the most interesting and one of the most controversial changes she liked (but disliked pretty much all others) was the Hayden Ghost. I like the original again, because I've seen them 100 times and changing them seems like herecy. What was cool about her statements was she was thinking about it, grasping the concepts and into it. Again, she says the Obi-Wan explains that "when that happened your father, the jedi...died" He does not disappear, as she says, when he dies like the other Jedi Qui-gon, Obi-wan, and yoda. Luke has to burn his body on the funeral pyre for him to appear with Yoda and Obi-wan. These were all her statements without me prodding or leading her any way. I just thought...damn, I got to give her SOME credit on this one. I still like the old way, but its not as bad now. Mostly the changes I hate is the cartoony stuff...like the Jedi rocks scene and the Jabba scene in ANH and the Greedo scene of course is retarded (all of which she agreed) and thats why I dislike so much of the PT b/c there is so many of those scenes...episode I is like the jedi rocks Music video expanded to 2 hours of VH1's behind the Music with Jar-Jar as the lead singer. Irritating. So glad to see all the posts to this thread. And yeah I love my girl. We get married in March!

I'm happy for you, m'man. I've been married 3 years (this October 13) and I couldn't be happier (except if she actually watched Star Wars with me). You're a lucky guy. Don't let go of her (or you might have a few hundred guys from this forum propositioning her within seconds).

Congratulations. We'll send the 2004 DVDs as a wedding present.

Can you play the celebration theme from ANH at the wedding?

Just as long as it is no Jedi Rocks, ok ricarleite?! Thanks guys. BTW, she already got me the 2004 boxset and get this...for no reason other than knowing I liked Star Wars. I was going to by them myself, but she beat me to it, by...STAYING UP UNTIL MIDNIGHT and grabbing them at Best Buy. Yeah, she's the one.

I hate to say it, but this all sounds too good to be true. I wouldn't have guessed that a woman on Earth existed that was like this.
Consider yourself lucky. No, lucky isn't strong enough a word. I don't know that such a word exists to describe this.

Fellow male board members, I think we now have a valid reason to support the development of cloning.

But if we clone her, all versions of her would fall for Obi-Wonton... I guess I would break down crying... by the way, what would he do with a hundred SW-boxsets?

Are you sure you didn't create her using a computer, like in "Weird Science"?

The world is always looking for alternative fuel sources... we'll burn 'em!

Star Wars DVDs... the new coal.

Sell them and give the money to charity.

Well my girlfriend has not yet had the pleasure of waching all 5 films.
She's promised that she will watch 4 - 6 on dvd soon.
So far she's had to put up with me watching any one of the films on a weekly basis, normally on a saturday or sunday morning
She's let me put up 5 movie posters in frames along our hallway going up to the loft conversion Good girl!
So now she needs to watch the original trilogy and fully appreciate the wonder of SW.

And my kid will arrive on December 12th, so he/she will be brainwashed from an early age. Keep SW in the family for ever!!

HaHa, I am laughing my ass off guys. I don't know about the alternate fuel source...they'd be awesome if someone with talent (and there is more than one here) made some changes. She's excited to watch the whole Empire of Dreams (and she watched the shorter one on A&E...that's how she heard about the new boxset release and gained more interest when we were watching that together the weekend before it came out).

BTW, if you clone her, don't give her Morrison's Kiwi voice OK, I like the voice she's got!

You guys are tripping me out, I thought I was lucky, but maybe like starkiller said (great name BTW...going back to the first scripts) its more than that.

Maybe I should have an OT.com wedding reception at the Skywalker Ranch...crash Lucas party for my own!

Well, you're laughing at what we write, and I'm laughing at that 'Kiwi voice' comment. Very good.

Thanks. I've been using either 'Starkiller' or 'Roy Starkiller' all over the net for a long time. I use it because of those first drafts. Probably 8-10 years ago, my dad found a website that had some of the old SW drafts in text form. He downloaded them for me. I think I've still got them somewhere.

Congrats Obi-WonTon. It's good to hear you will have a mate that shares compatible interests.

My wife and I share somethin only purchases DVDs that are deemed "DVD worthy" for our collection (i.e. sci-fi, action, fantasy). We do not have a big collection of drama DVDs because these, IMO do not take full advantage of our home system.

Enjoy Obi.

Regards,
Kevin

Id like to confer my congratulations as well Obi. There are few things in life as wonderful as a partner to share your greatest interests with.

I think this is a testament against the whole "nerds are always single, living in their mom's cellars" cliche. There seem to be a good number of "nerds" on the forum whom have wives or girlfriends. Its like a revolution in my mind.
