Was the Frankenstein Walk Shortened in ROTS DVD?

Author
Time
... compared to the theatrical release. It doesn't seem as grueling when I watched a little bit of it today, maybe I'm just getting use to it, or they cut it down to be less dramatic.

I think you all know what I mean when I say Frankestein walk, Darth Vader.

Anyone know?

Yeah, I've heard several people report this. I say it's probably less traumatic (for lack of a better word) and less cringeworthy to see now than it was in theaters!

Hmmm interesting, I don't go to any other Star Wars boards, guess I'm not crazy or just imaging things, then.

Maybe someone can compare the two, maybe using the bootleg version?

And am I the only one who likes the "Yoda landing on Degobah (I guess that's how you spell it) scene?"

Like Rick McCallum, I as well was very upset (though not "heartbroken," as he dramatically proclaims) to see that scene of Yoda landing on Dagobah cut. I do hope he reinserts it into his definitive versions, as well as the "birth of the rebellion" scenes.

Are you kidding? I wasn't at all impressed by the Dagobah scene, and the rebellion scenes were terribly acted. I hope they both stay cut.
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

They are essential to the plot and tying ROTS and ANH together, as well as ROTS and ESB together, IMHO. The acting is fine to me. The dagobah scene adds a nice touch to ROTS.

My memories of the midnight premier I attended, plus the two other times I saw it on the theaters, are kinda fuzzy on that particular scene, so I cannot be sure. I belive it is unaltered. The only thing I don't remember hearing on the theaters is Jar Jar saying "excuse me". Apart from that, the movie seems to be pretty much what I've seen on the big screen.

Yeah...what HotRod said.

People are seriously imagining things.

I agree! Personally, I was dissappointed with ALL the deleted scenes. I was hoping for one of Yoda 'talkin' to Qui-Gon. I also think the '1138' easter egg is lame. Where is the blooper reel? I love all the other blooper reels and I was looking forward to seeing one for Sith.

By leaving ta blooper reel off this disk, Lucas has something to entice us with later.

Maybe all the actors got their lines right on the first take.

What are you guys talking about? It's there! Just start playing the movie from chapter one.

"Maybe all the actors got their lines right on the first take."

Or maybe one take was all George wanted. Everything gets fixed in post-production.

Makes sense. He pretty much shot the whole movie in one, continuous take using a single camera and greenscreen, which took an our and a half, since fourty minutes of this film is composed of CGI-only scenes. Later, he altered the actors lips to match the audio looping he did with the actors, now saying the lines without cursing or laughing. This whole process took about three or four days. Then, he moved to a 2 and a half year post production. During that process, the script for the movie was written, writing based on the CGI that was already done by ILM, not the opposite as it usually works.

Is it me, or George Lucas works the EXACT OPPOSITE way as Stanley Kubrick did?

I do wonder, however, why everyone seems to hate Vader's "NOOOOOO!!!!!" so much, but forgets about Luke's equally ultra-cheasy edition of it in ESB.

Because there's simply something about a deep, booming, electronic-ish voice yelling that's just funny. I find those moments in the original trilogy when Vader grunts or yells to just sound weird. Plus, I never found Luke's scream to be that bad. Bad at all for that matter.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Could be were also use to a cool, calm and collective Darth Vader. I think when he yelled, "Nooooo!," wait ... it's more like, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" that he exposed himself too much. Maybe a younger Darth just isn't as P.I.M.P as an older Darth. That younger Darth has a lot to learn, really, sheesh!

Luke's no in ESB = A kid that finds out that this guy in a big black suit is his father. Was in charge of the Stormtroopers, thus is responcible for his Aunt and, Uncle's death's and, a whole lot more deaths. He also, killed Obiwan and, didn't stop Alderan's distruction. He also, was going to kill him and, his friends without giving it a second thought. Until he had a conversation with the Emperor that made him decide to try to lure him to the Darkside. Oh, yeah and, before he told him he thought, he was the killer of his father.

Darth Vader's no in ROTS = After killing a whole bunch of people and, turning to the darkside. Then, thinking Padme turned against him. Force choked her and, was suprised to hear that he killed her....

Luke's no seems a lot more justifiable to me then Vader's... Though when I watched ROTS in the theaters I half expected an evil laugh from Vader.

Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" is VERY justified in that all of the evil acts he commited, all of the people he killed, the entuire reason he turned to the dark side in the first place, WAS TO SAVE PADME's life. And then, he is told that in this very anger, he killed her? I think that is quite the justified "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" Read Mattew Stover's novelization, which gives a very in-depth look into his mind at that point, and gets into his feelings and the exact situation he was in.
