What could be more legitimate than the perversion of art?

I finally published my history of the Special Edition, which actually breaks down every addition to the trilogy and how it actively harms the movie, and explains how both versions can live in peace.
I also reveal a mistake introduced in the SE that I’ve never seen pointed out before.
It’s quite a read, I hope you enjoy! A lot of you helped, in the end.
Nice article, and very neat new discovery! And thank you for all of your hard work over the years. Without someone out there finding each and every wart, we’d hardly know where to apply the wart remover, would we?
EDIT: Although you might have to explain to oldsters what to do about that pound sign thingee at the end: #ReleaseTheOriginalTrilogy. Typing it into my fax machine placed an international call 😉
This is just so awesome.
Congratulations!
That is a brilliant article - and fully deserved for all your tireless work and continuing research on the changes made to the three classic films over the years.
Plus, a welcome and timely reminder of the Original Trilogy’s true history.
Well in, mate 👍

'The Disney+ versions of the original Star Wars trilogy are not the versions that changed the world. They aren’t the versions that were nominated for 17 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. They are pale imitations.

fantastic article ! I just wish they had used an actual image from the original rather than that pic from ROS .
Amazing article, 005! I agree with almost every point you made. Hopefully an article on such a high-profile site will lend some kind of legitimacy to our movement.

What could be more legitimate than the preservation of art?
Great article btw! I’ll never be able to look at the X-wing 180 shot the same way!

congrats on getting published. I started spreading this around to anyone I could think of. Hopefully this helps to reach the general public at large because it’s extremely well worded and understandable.

With all due respect to your research and the article, I don’t want the original theatrical version on Disney+. I want them on disc, so I can watch them whenever I want without having to deal with a subscription service.

Pretty sure the thought is: If they’re available for streaming, they’ll be available on disc.
The article is just pointing out how easily & seamlessly the versions can exist side-by-side.
Hmmmmmm I don’t trust this.

JEDIT: Just noticed the notice at the bottom of the article confirming it’s an April Fool’s Joke.
It was WIRED’s idea to make it about Disney+ since that’s the big thing everyone is talking about. And it wouldn’t cost them printing and distribution. It’s as easy as uploading.

A quality point, one you demonstrated very well for other popular franchises available on streaming services, and very much worth highlighting on here too…

Sir, that’s as concise an article of the history as I’ve ever seen. It also thoroughly explains the dead end still confronting us all these decades later. Outstanding work! I’ve long since given up on the idea of ever watching Star Wars again because of the sad state it’s in. However, discussions such as yours always give me a glimmer of hope that somehow someone who can make the difference will see the plea and act on it. Fingers crossed your piece pushes us across the finish line. I’ll be sending this link out to a great many people.
Thanks, Anchor!
Excellent work. I also could not stop laughing at the CGI Yavin, it’s been a very long time since I watched that version and I never realised it either.

Congrats on perseverance and continuously tweaking the presentation until you captured a more mainstream audience. George would be proud. (kidding!)

Do you know if Wired plan to include a version of the article in their print edition?
