Hey everyone, just opened this thread just to kind of build a groundworks for voice actors would would like to help in re-dubs for fan films and also for people also looking for voices. I have done a few things with my voice but would now like to make a 30 second youtube video showing my talents and hopefully get on board with a fanedit/redub. In my video I do my version of Grievous too.

Many Thanx

Hi DuTwan,

great idea to open a topic about this, as this will be really helpful to many people, including me.

I too am looking for a few voice actors. I am currently working on a Star Wars fan film project. Without any disregard for earlier fan film projects, I think it's pretty fair to say that this is the most ambitious fan film ever attempted. Everything is still pretty much under wraps right now. If everything goes according to plan principle photography will commence next week and a website and more information will hit the internet next month, aswell with story details, cast interviews and a teaser trailer for the people involved.

Still, we need for many people to contribute. And except for the obvious need for matte painters and cg artists we are also looking for a few voice actors.  Most characters have already been cast, except for a few minor but nonetheless important roles and some roles that are very difficult to cast for obvious reasons, which I'm unfortunately not yet allowed to talk about.

Because of the nature of this project, for some roles the quality of the microphone is very important, but this doesn't necessarily have to be a problem. If you have a low quality microphone but we are certain that your voice is perfect for the role we might decide to arrange a dubbing session with a professional microphone.

For others roles, for example a filtered voice over a comlink, microphone quality isn't that important. Besides, some of the technical wizards on our team might very well be able to blend in you recordings seamlessly with the other audio elements on the audio track of the movie.

So please, if you think you can help us out, send a sample of your voice to the following mail address:

thesithlordrevealed@gmail.com

You will naturally receive credit for you role and although I cannot promise you any money for your contribution, we will be setting up a system for donations and we are planning to share all remaining funds with our actors and contributors.

Sincerely yours,

Darth Plagueis

I don't mind doing voice acting. I was in theater in high school.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I'd give it a go but with my mix of accents I'm proberbly only good for protocol droids, minor Jedi and Imperial Officers (though I've been told my Palpatine and Sir Alec impersonations aren't too bad).

I was brought up in South East England but I've been long enough on Caledonian soil (in the service of the Emperor) for my R's to change ;-)

I can do a pretty good General Grievous.  I can also do 3PO, Yoda and Obi-Wan.

I know the quality was off, but not so much that you couldn't grasp that you do amazing voice work.

Since we know you can nail Grevious... Why not redub all his lines from ep. 3 to start off, and make it available for download for fan editing work.

It would be awesome if we can find someone who can redub every character accurately. This free so much up having a complete voices only track.

Just to start off, can anyone do a Liam Neeson well enough to redub TPM?

Those were good! But for some reason your Grevious sounded like G1 megatron. lol

The person your searching for simply does not exist

Is anyone on board with me to find voice actors who can redo every line the prequels? This would be huge! That alone would even allow TJdavis and Infodroid to be able to do SW: Reborn the way they intended. haha... Granted they want to anymore. =)

That is pretty good. Grevious sounds less cartoony.

Good deal. I'm going to get a character list so that everyone interested can find a character they can re-dub.....

I suppose we can begin with TPM... I'll get a list up soon. Perhaps we need to have some ground rules too... In order for you to be on the redub you have to submit an audio sample of you doing the character you would like to redub. If it sounds like the character and your the first to deliver it, you're the guy or girl.

Once all the spaces are taken, we can begin. Everyone involved must have a copy of TPM as this should be the standard for the redub, and then re-record the lines. Obviously when you record you must speak at the same pace as the actor onscreen. Ideally I feel like it would be good to see some different tones, but at this point I feel it should be done as is.

If everyone is agreement with this then I'll drop in a character list. If anyone has anything to add or if you feel we need to discuss things further, that's cool too. Just trying to get the ball rolling on this! =)

I thought I would go ahead and get that character list posted for TPM.

I listed everyone I knew, and some I didn't who have actors credited for voice work so I put them in. Does this seem to be a pretty complete list?

Qui-gon Jinn

Obi-wan Kenobi

Padmé Amidala

Anakin Skywalker (young)

Shmi Skywalker

Yoda

Senator Palpatine

Gov. Sio Bibble

Darth Maul

Capt. Panaka

Jar Jar Binks

C-3PO

R2-D2

Supreme Chancellor Valorum

Boss Nass

Watto

Sebulba

Capt. Tarpals

Viceroy Nute Gunray

Ki-Adi-Mundi

Ric Olié

Fighter Pilot Bravo 5 (female)

Fighter Pilot Bravo 2 (male)

Fighter Pilot Bravo 3 (male)

Mace Windu

Sabé (Queen's decoy)

TC-14 (female...However, I think this doesn't matter in this case.)

Beed & Fode (Two-headed commentator at pod-race.)

Kitster

Rune Haako

Daultay Dofine

Sen. Lott Dodd

Aks Moe

Battle Droids

The list looks good...thought I don't think that R2-D2 needs to be redubbed.

I don't think he needs redubbing with human actors but he certainly needs redubbing (the oft mentioned R2 laughing his metal boobs off at the prospect of his friend getting a lobotomy in ROTS for just one example).

Author

Well when R2 is needed, I'm sure we can pull from the other movies for that. So, no need for anyone to do that. Not a huge issue. But if everyone agrees with the list, I say let's get started. Start posting sound clips of you doing a character from the list and we'll go from there. Obviously whoever is chosen for the Obi-wan redub should do the redub for all three, and so on...

Just to keep the ball rolling, does anyone know who can do a Qui-Gon impression?

When we decide (I say if three people are in agreement over an impression we say that person is the one.) I'll post an updated list of who is doing what.

Ok guys... Don't let this thread die... If we could pull this off, imagine what could happen in SW fan editing!
