Fox News once again asking the tough questions! I look forward to their investigative report on wiji boards and spooky campfire stories.

Um....did you actually read the WHOLE article, or just the headline?

Yeah, sean, that's a perfectly legitimate article if you look past the headline and at the actual content. And, by the way, it's Ouija, not wiji.

I read it. Anyone who thinks this kid was possessed by the devil is just a fucking idiot. We want real scientific findings, not superstitions. And plus I think the devil is rather neutral than evil.

I am curious. Why would you think that?

Wow, where to begin.

I don't know how the "American Dream" was shattered by this. In fact, I don't know how the "American Dream" has anything to do with this.

The "American Dream", despite what you think sean, doesn't involve doing as little as possible for as much money as possible. It does involve working hard, which does not necessarily mean doing hard physical labor. Most people aren't paid a lot to do physical labor because it's relatively easy to do and a lot of people can do it. What does tend to pay a lot is thinking. People get paid A LOT of money to use their brains, whether it's physicist's, chemist's, engineer's, or whatever else. Ditch diggers on the other hand get paid very little. The difference is that ditch diggers don't have a whole lot of education, whereas the other careers I mentioned have many years of college behind them.

As for the "greatest man in radio" comment, I guess that just tells us where you're coming from. I'll put this short and eloquently: Howard Stern is a tool. He talks down a lot about other professions, but he's really no different from the rest. He's a shock jock that is really no different from Imus.

I have a really hard time believing that this all came about because he was bullied in middle and high school. How old was he? I seriously doubt students continue to bully him at VT. Maybe that's why he decided to do it, but that's a really stupid reason.

And sean, you're an idiot. The Devil is anything but neutral. The Devil would like nothing better than for more and more people to kill each other. Whether the article on Fox News has any merit or not, the Devil sure isn't sitting by the sidelines just watching everything (what a neutral party would do). If anything, the Devil actively encouraged Cho to go on his rampage. Maybe if he'd had some religion in his life, he wouldn't have done this, but we'll never know that.

The Devil is a fallen angel. He thought he was more powerful than God, so God kicked him out of heaven. He's not "just doing his job". Unless his job is being evil, which is not neutral.

Actually no. An idiot for everything else I've read on these forums that you've posted. You seem to take the headline of the week and run with it, without doing any other research. The car emissions thread is a prime example. Did you even bother looking up those numbers or did you just find them on some random site somewhere?

I think the forums would be a lot better off without both you and Rob.

EDIT: Oh look at that, no wonder Fox News had that article up "Lauren Green is FOX News Channel's Religion Correspondent." What do you expect out of a Religion Correspondent? Do you expect them to talk psychobabble?

So what? What do other cultures matter? The devil is, in Christian theology, the prince of evil. Ergo, any Christian saying someone is possessed by the devil (whether said Christian is correct or not is another story), he or she is saying that he is possessed by the prince of evil. NOT the prince of neutrality.

Neutrality doesn't kill 32 people for selfish narcisistic reasons.

But I don't think the guy was possessed by anything. I think he was just a self-righteous jerk. And if the devil had any hand in it, he could only have been moving Cho in the direction he ultimately went.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has acted quickly to defend himself against reports he rolled his eyes during an American Idol contestant's tribute to the students of Virginia Tech University on the TV talent show on Tuesday night. Internet sites went crazy after the incident with critics accusing judge Cowell of being insensitive to singer Chris Richardson's message to friends caught up in the aftermath of Monday's campus massacre. TV cameras captured Cowell making a sarcastic gesture as Richardson said, "My hearts and prayers go out to Virginia Tech. I have a lot of friends over there... Be strong." But he insists he wasn't listening to what Richardson was saying and was caught up in conversation with fellow judge Paula Abdul. Speaking on show host Ryan Seacrest's Los Angeles morning radio show yesterday morning, Cowell, who made his own tribute to the students of Virginia Tech during American Idol, admitted he was horrified to become a target of nasty stories. He said, "You get this crazy story that appears that I rolled my eyes disrespectfully at Chris because he made the comment... The truth was I had switched off at that point and I was talking to Paula. I did wanna clear this one up because this is a very sensitive subject. The irony was is that we did want to set the right tone on the show."

If you believe in the devil, which you would have to to see him as a neutral guy, because if you see him as purely mythological that makes him an invented character with a purpose which is to be evil. It is funny to hear you talk about wanting scientific findings then to mention the devil being an okay guy in the same sentence. If the devil is real, what is to say he cannot posses (or give orders for other demonic forces to posses) people?

I am by no means superstitious, I am a pretty skeptical guy. There are even times I have a hard time believeing in God, and when I hear people talk about having their life rescued at the last minute by an angel who poped up for a mere second, or about somebody being possessed by an evil spirit my tendancy is to want to laugh out loud. I don't take things lightly and believe all I am told. But there are things I have seen myself, and things that have been witnessed by very close friends of mine. Friends who I have been in life and death situations with and trust wholeheartedly with my very life. These things are qute unexplainable by science, things that make it very hard for me not to believe in God, or at the very least supernatural forces of some kind.

And not to go all Greek on you and all, but I found this quote funny,
"An idiot for my own beliefs?" funny because the Koine Greek word "idios", which is were we get the word "idiot" means, one's own, belonging to one, personal, one's own way, one's own self. When used as an insult or accusation, it is accusing one of being stuck in their own ways. Close minded and uninterested in enlightenment. Anyway, just thought that quote was funny, since ones own beliefs is very closely related to the root of this word.

"I think the forums would be a lot better off without both you and Rob."

I highly disagree with this ^, though Rob is pretty annoying with posting half naked men on everythread. He would be an okay guy if he wasn't doing that and always pretending to be gay for the sake of attention. But as for Sean, I enjoy having him around, he brings some much needed diversity to these boards and he keeps things lively. The whole conservative - liberal thing he has going on is a little extreme though, but he is not the only one around here guilty of this. Life is not a chess match. It is not always us verses them. You can't categorize the world into two categories. The reason why the terms conservative and liberal are so common use in our society is that everybody has a hard time thinking on their own. They would rather let somebody else do the thinking for them, they also like to have options in this. In the end they just lean to the side that they like the sound of the most or fits their upbringing the best. Thinking is important. Anybody who thinks for themselves is bound to find some good things in both the liberals side and the conservative side, that fact that it so often goes everything or nothing is a pretty good indicator not enough people are thinking on their own. The fact that you have people who say the other news channels are crap and Fox News is the only reliable one and others who claim Fox is the most biased pile of tripe and that if you want to know anything you have to watch CNN or MSNBC, proves this. We are relying on others for our data, instead of going out and finding it on our own. We are all being told what to think, and part of that which we are told to believe is that the liberals/conservatives don't think for themselves, but our side does. Stalemate.

I'm the dickhead? Yeah, I'm the dickhead because I actually looked up some things about cars, emissions, and CO2 based on your post. You can't use the "I'm just a kid" defense if you know full well you're making mistakes. This is 2007, not 1987. Today, you can find out near instantaneously almost any facts you want. You don't have to read something and accept it as gospel.

As for the WWF, they took that photo in China for a reason. China has some of the worst pollution for an industrialized nation. But they have no laws, like we do, for reducing the pollution, so they just keep spewing it out. Maybe if more people came out against China's environmental policies and less against the US ones, they'd start cleaning up their mess.

Did you happen to watch American Idol last night? They showed the clips from Tuesday and you could hear Simon talking. He was in fact ignoring the guy at that point. I'm not sure what you were trying to point out by posting this. I'm sure anyone watching AI on Tuesday might have thought he was dissing the guy, but if you watched it last night, he explained it and then they showed what actually happened. I don't normally watch AI, I just wanted to see if Sanjaya got kicked off (he did).

FYI, I don't really have any problems, at least not with people like you. The facts are on my side. History is on my side. The only liberal around here that I really respect is ADM. I may not agree with him and his conclusions, but they're at least partially based on facts and the full story. Unlike your opinions, which seem to be based on headlines and what some shock jock has to say.

You're probably right. I'm getting really annoyed with Rob's posts, but only slightly annoyed with sean's. That's because sean's posts are mostly just copy and paste from other places. And they're all "controversial". But I guess that he's gotta be controversial since he is a kid

Yeah, Rob's post are really getting to be too much. Back when he was calling every thread gay he was bearable, and he has relevant posts from time to time. But lately now you never know what you are going to see when you click on a thread. I was actually going to tell an old friend of mine about this place today, but decided against it when I remembered Rob's last few threads.

Aw c'mon C3PX. You can do better than that.

George W Bush graduated from Yale with a BA and Harvard with an MBA. Al Gore was an underachiever

Fuel was over $2 per gallon with Clinton in the White House. Clinton had several opportunities to kill bin Laden and never took them. I'm not saying "But Clinton!", I'm just stating the facts.

And what exactly do all these things have to do with the American Dream? Nothing actually. Yes Arnie, you nailed what the American Dream is all about.
