Violence in Video games a fad? — Page 2

I was addicted to Super Mario Bros. 3 back in the late 80s, and now I have a penchant for Magic Mushrooms and have been arrested 16 times for jumping on people's heads. Make of that what you will.

The side who argued that there was no correlation between violence and video games destroyed the other side.

Heh, considering the topic of debate, your choice of words (destroyed) might be taken with the wrong connotation. ^_~

And, YIYF, that's just some freaky sh*@ there!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

You know I was joking right?

Sega rally is responsible for a number of incidents involving me and my car though...

Actually, Magic Mushrooms are legal here due to a loophole that allows them to be purchased for 'ornamental' purposes but not 'prepared' (i.e cooked) or consumed. Although once you've bought them and taken them home, who's going to stop you munching on them?

Jumping on people's heads is a no-no though.

What kind of crazy country do you live in where you can't jump on people's heads? Here in America, we have freedom! FREEDOM, I say!!!

Okay, I lied. But we can burn people with flowers, though.

I remember hearing someone say once that if video games had influenced kids behaviors, then everyone who was a kid in the early 80's would love to run around and munch on pills in dark rooms. (Pac-Man and its sequels)

What about playing tennis...thanks to Pong.

Anyways, weighing in on the topic, you cannot blame kids violence solely on video games, just as you cannot lay the blame entire on rap music, parents or any number of other sources.

I do, however, believe that violent video games help to desensitize kids to the consequences of their actions.

We have a loophole here about marijuana too, lol...

And btw, that was hilarious about the jumping on heads and getting involved with magic mushrooms. Classic.

And Gaffer, I just use words like 'destroy' to emphasize how badly they got beaten; so no pun intended

Well that's a good idea, we might as well broaden the subject. How about, 'What is the effect of video games on the people that play them, in general'.
