Yes, this is a rhetorical question. Perhaps a more proper question is how long have you been playing games? For crying out loud, there are SNES games better than those two.

Earthbound and Super Metroid were better.

I'm getting Perfect Dark and Project Gotham Racing 3. Oblivion would have been cool as a launch game, but oh well.

It will only be released here on November 24th.

But I already reserved my copy.

I'll also look for that USB so I can play online, so... Chaltab... the challenge is on...

Oh, you bet. As long as we can find each other on the 'net. I've heard that setting up a game with a specific player is impossible, and that even if we're on each others' friends list it might not work. Also, I can't believe it's coming out on Thanksgiving in Brazil. I mean I know Thanksgiving is an American thing, but still. Why then?

It takes a while for any movie or game to reach other markets, unless they work in a way that it gets released overseas at the same time (like Episode 3). Also, it will be produced outside Brazil, so it takes a while for it to get here anyway. Oh well.

The thanksgiving date, just a coincidence. We don't have that here.

I belive we can play each other, we just have to give each other our own code. Do you have an instant messaging like msn or icq? Or even an irc program... So we can schedule a date and a time, get in, give each others code or whatever, and find each other on it. I'll most probably lose, I'm not such a good gamer, but it'll be fun to actually play a game with you.

Neither do I. I could go to some places that offer wireless connection, but I rather play at home, so I'll get one of those USBs.

If I obtain one within the next year or so, it WILL be a Christmas gift. I refuse to buy one of those over-priced misleading things until it's not overpriced anymore.

X-Box can suck my nuts. I'm tired of giving Microsoft my money just to receive stuff that screws up all the time. I didn't buy an X-Box, and I'm not going to buy any future incarnations.

Same goes for Playstation. I keep buying Sony DVD players and every single one of them have screwed up. I hate Sony.

Nintendo is the last of a dying breed, if you ask me. They only give a shit about the games, and don't worry about DVD players and online crap and all that other superfluous crap. Too bad there's too many stupid people sitting with their thumbs up their asses to notice.

I dunno, maybe I'm just bitter.

I am getting a 360. It looks really interesting. As well as a N-Revolution.

The PS3 is absolutely uninteresting. Besides, it probably won't be safe to handle until 2008. Given Sony's track record with hardwae.

definetely getting a ps3 eventually for the final fantasy games.

I will also get an xbox 360 to play the new perfect dark, and fable II, plus the possibility of a kotor 3.

Anybody else here play the Castlevania series? I'm currently playing Dawn of Sorrows for the DS, and it is an amazing game, and my favirote in the series since Simphony of the Night.

I am thinking very seriously about going with Nintendo for this round. I have always been a Sega man, but I went with the X-box last time, mostly because I hate Sony (but also because it had a few Sega games I was interested in playing). The release of KOTOR II pretty much pushed me to buying the machine. I also thought the controller (S) for the X-box was quite good, even though it didn't have 6 full-on buttons on the face and a pretty shoddy D-pad (then again, there hasn't been a good D-pad since the Saturn), which makes it nigh-on impossible to play a good Capcom fighter (which I am also quite fond of). I don't hate Sony per sé, but I hate what they've done to the industry, and I also think their consoles are unreliable (although I still think the X-box design was bloody woeful too). I remember people replacing their playstations while I was still playing my Saturn (although my Saturn did eventually malfunction last year, and I needed to replace it). In fact, I believe that the X-box and the PS2 were the two ugliest consoles since the NES and Master System I. In point of fact, I thought the idea of the X-box was a little lacking as well, in that it was basically a computer crammed into a console shell. It had 4 controller ports, which I believe should have been the industry standard since the N64, but it didn't have nearly enough good 4-player games outside of FPS and perhaps racing. Nintendo have become masters of the true party game IMHO, although a lot can be said for 16-player Halo on system link. All of these multiplayer options need to be FULLY exploited in order to maximise the gaming experience in this next generation. If it doesn't happen this time 'round, I'm gonna start running one of the damn companies myself. So, this is a bit unfocused, but this is what I'm saying:

A console needs

- A well-designed, ergonomic controller (a la X-box)
- A good D-pad & 6 face buttons for 2D fighters (a la Sega Saturn)
- 4 controller ports (a la N64)
- Decent in-built memory (a la X-box)
- NO NEED FOR MEMORY CARDS, but option available
- Full internet capabilities, even with options for mouse and keyboard
- Full multiplayer support STANDARD for ALL APPLICABLE GAMES, online and offline (this can be integrated into the machine itself, and the hardware itself can be an encouragement to developers to use it)
- System link capabilities (a la X-box)
- DVD playability, WITHOUT THE NEED TO BUY A REMOTE TO USE IT (pet peeve - I'm NOT buying an X-box DVD Remote until the price is next to nothing)
- Disc tray comes out the front, i.e. a proper CD/DVD/whatever player (unlike the Saturn and Playstation - laser lens problems abound)
- Headphone jack, to play silently (I used this on my Megadrive all the time so that my parents wouldn't catch me staying up!)
- Power and RESET buttons on the front face (a la Megadrive)

Other things can be useful (like USB ports and multimedia connectivity), but that is basically what you need for a good console design, IMHO.
MTFBWY. Always.
