The other day I wondered into a tiny local thrift store and sitting on a coffee table I found a complete CDI system for $15 and it works, you had better believe I scooped that up.
Star Wars games on sale on Steam. Probably for Star Wars day.
Lego Star Wars Complete and #3 are $6 each- which is the lowest they've been and they almost never go on sale.
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
Not sure if any of you still play this game or remember it, it's over 10 years old now, but lately I've been revisiting a really great computer game called Rise of Nations with the expansion pack Thrones and Patriots. I've been so into it lately that it's been making me neglect some of my other priorities

I used to play Rise of Nations. I think I still have it around here somehwere. My fondest memory is having my army throwing spears at WW2 era bombers as they wiped out my island nation. I was never very good.
Unless we sped everything up and we all just sat there in a Cold War state. I'd sometimes win that.

Tempting. Which would people recommend?
The blue elephant in the room.
Really depends on what kind of games you like.
My favorite Star Wars game of all time is Jedi Outcast. I'd definitely recommend the entire Jedi Knight series.
Republic Commando is a great tactical FPS.
Knights of the Old Republic is a fantastic RPG.
If you're into flight sims you can't go wrong with X-Wing and Tie Fighter.
I feel I should point out though that GOG is also having a Star Wars weekend sale. They have a wider selection of titles, the best support for older titles and no DRM.
They currently have two themed bundles for the weekend:
I was looking at the TIE Fighter GOG had up, most of the reviews were complaining it wasn't the CD-ROM Collector's Edition. But now GOG says that is coming, so now I wonder if I can still play it with a mouse and keyboard (with invincibility on, of course).

Yeah when they first released it, it was the original release. But just this weekend they added the CD-ROM edition and upgraded everyone who had already bought it for free.
I've heard you can now play with controller support as well if you don't own a joystick.

I just bought all 20 SW games from GOG! For less than the cost of 1 new game. Wooooh!

So you got yourself a CDI...what are you going to do with it?

Well start collecting movies and games of course. I love collecting this old stuff. There is a reason I still have all my old game consoles and video players.
Some people collect stamps, I collect old electronics and I am very happy with this find.

I'm just waiting on some cash in the card to get the xwing/tie fighter games now that they have the collector's cd edition, that is THE best version for both games.
I played the original CD collectors edition of Tie fighter 16 years ago and finished it with the mouse and keyboard (had no joystick), it may sound a pain in the ass and it was actually, but once you get on track with the learning curve is not that hard. PS: Remove your mouse pad and get some space for the mouse since you'll be doing a loooooooot of huge mouse movements.

Turn based RPG- if your concept of RPGs has anything to do with modern Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, etc... you might be put off by the turn based combat. Especially when you roll a 0 and 'miss' with your lightsaber from 4 feet away.

Yeah that takes some getting used to, even if you like turn based games. I got into RPG with Final Fantasy but in those games they don't duplicate dice rolls so when you tell your character to do something they do it, going back KOTOR took some getting used to. Still I play it for the characters and the plot and those are well worth it. Not to mention that despite the graphics not being high res they still look pretty good. I'll play it over Mass Effect 3 or the most recent final fantasy games any day of the week despite the dated combat.
I've been playing the Donkey Kong Country series for SNES lately. The first two are nearly perfect. The third one sucks major donkey ass. It's like it took the very few things that were annoying/didn't work about the first two and decided to base the entire third game around them. I hated it.
I was playing the game Call of Duty 4 earlier because I live in the past and I was trying to beat in on the hardest difficulty and I got so pissed off that I took the disk out of the console and set it on the table and was about to start smashing it with my controller (which is held together with rubber bands) but then stopped myself because I knew that if I broke the game I would just go buy a new one eventually.
I did end up beating it though

When you say 'beating it'.... Do you mean with the disc on the table or in the console?

I'm confused. First you say that the first two are "nearly perfect", then you say they "sucks (sic) major donkey @**" Then you say that the first two take the worst parts of the first two and make entire games about them.
Congratulations Possessed, you managed to break reality and cause this to happen.

I completed the game, the disc remains safe and unharmed. I've only ever destroyed one disc before and it was about 12 years ago, and it was some awful basketball game and it was impossible. Plus I only payed a couple dollars for it.

That episodes blew my mind when I was a kid. I couldn't figure out how they paid for all the different Enterprise models on a TV budget.

HAHAHA. Man I must have been wasted when I wrote that. I meant to say that the third one sucks. I love the first two with a few exceptions, and they took the exceptions from the first two and turned them into Donkey Kong Country 3. I love the second one, but okay you take DONKEY KONG out of the game and replace him with some little girl. Alright Dixie turns out to be freakin awesome with her ponytail glide thing so I can deal. But then you take out Diddy... the last ties to the original game and replace him with... A BABY!?!?!?!? It's like they were just trying to make it lame! You go from the great duo of Diddy and DK to a girl and some oversized toddler. Not to mention every level is a gimmick. You're either a different animal the whole level, spending the whole level climbing against a rope that's on a fuse, in the dark, or something else preposterous. No fun levels. Don't even get me started on the one where lighting comes out of the sky to strike you down. It's not that it's too hard... it's just not fun. I give it 2 bananas out of 5 for at least having Dixie.
DK3 was the worst.
Indeed!

Are you quite certain that the store owner might have approved of such behavior? So lost in wonder were you that you sat on their table...?

Are you quite certain this language joke holds up? I'm not sold. "wondered into a tiny store and sitting" doesn't imply that he was the one sitting on the table. The tenses are off. THE TENSES ARE OFF MAN.
