I'm totally excited that Jane's getting back in the game (no pun intended). In my book, Gabriel Knight was second only to Quest for Glory in Sierra's catalog, and Sins of the Fathers was probably the apex of the genre. Here's hoping that Moebius is a big success...

Been playing the last Aliens vs Predator. Pretty darn fun, very atmospheric with a storyline that fits in with what's been established (in regards to the Pred and Alien films, not the crap AvP films). The voice talent is pretty terrible though. =P Overall I really like it and I haven't touched MP yet but I did a little of that way back when they released the demo.

I'm looking forward to Aliens: Colonial Marines but it feels kinda like a step backward just having Aliens this time around. Hopefully it'll be cool.

Aside from that I just finished the first episode of the new Walking Dead game by Telltale. They really outdid themselves with this. Fantastic game and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season.

Does it use those stupid quicktime events for "action sequences" like Telltale's Jurassic Park?

Nope. Different team at Telltale worked on this game. Closest you'll get is you'll have moments where crazy stuff happens and you have to mash Q and then press E. Nothing at all like the Jurassic Park game.

I played GK1 and GK3.  Somehow I never played 2, which was the FMV one.  I'll check it out.  EDIT: I pledged!

Just a couple of weeks until the Tex Murphy Kickstarter takes off.  I'm still trying to decide how much I can send them.

You can find GK2 on GOG, optimized to run on newer OS platforms, for $5.99.

Each Gabriel Knight game is the pinnacle of that adventure gaming period to me in storytelling, gameplay, and all around execution.

GK1 - VGA graphics

GK2 - FMV

GK3 - 3D

And actually I never finished GK1.  I ran into some bug about 3/4 of the way through that kept me from progressing.  I'm still kind of bummed about that.

I'll have to check out GK2 someday... but I don't know if it can compete with Wing Commander 4 or Pandora Directive for pinnacle of FMV.

Oh, you must finish GK1! You can always check out a long play / let's play on Youtube to see how the game finishes.

If you still have GK1 and are interested in replaying it to its conclusion, I would recommend using the custom installer at SierraHelp.com. It should take care of any pesky bugs (most of which are likely to result from compatibility issues with newer machines).

I also strongly suggest playing through GK2, but be warned that the interface is way more restrictive than that of GK1. IMO, this is the game's biggest weakness, as the storyline is extremely good. FMV, in hindsight, was really one of those ideas that worked better on paper than in execution.

I played GK1 shortly after it came out- possibly when GK2 came out.  So I don't think it was an incompatibility issue as much as it was a game code issue.   Lots of people suffered from the same bug, if I recall.  There were save games that would have dropped me right where I got stopped... but somehow I lost my steam on it.

Since it's been over 10 years, I doubt I could pick it up where I left off and be plussed by the experience anyhow.

anyone checked out the Portal 2 level editor yet? [aka the perpetual testing initiative]

had a bit of a muck about, pretty simple to get the hang of - now all I need is an idea...

 Intentional George Lucas quote?

I take it the Portal 2 kit is PC only?

After spending about a day grabbing updates I am just about ready to punch STEAM in the face.

FINALLY!!! Got some time to play The Walking Dead. I was a bit skeptical about it, regardless of positive reviews, but I liked it far more than I thought I would. In fact, I loved it! Not sure how well it will stand up to repeat playings, though the decision system should help make that more interesting, it is still basically the same story you'll be playing through, just with a few different faces and different attitudes from certain people in your group.

One of the best five dollars purchases I have ever made on Xbox Live. Of course, if I get them all it will be $25 by the time all is said and done...

Looking forward to the next one. For some reason I assumed there'd be one a month (maybe because that is how frequently I am used to getting the comics, or maybe I only read the release dates for the first two and assumed they'd all be only a month apart since those two were), so I am kind of disappointed to see the release dates are stretched out until the end of December. I feel like it would be a lot more fun just to play the whole way through, rather than waiting three months between episodes. Maybe I'll just drop it now, and pick it up again in January when I can marathon the thing... Errr, well, maybe I'll go ahead and start on that strategy after part 2 comes out next week.

Alright, folks.  It's 17 hours old and 17% funded.  I expect that the biggest fans didn't wait and all made their pledges.  So now it's up to you, you middle sized fans.

It's $15 to get the game, and, of course, it goes on from there.

I didn't back Tim Schafer's project because I knew he didn't need my money.  I knew this because it had already passed the mark by %300 when I first heard about it.  I backed Jane Jensen's Moebius because I thought they might need my money.  But I sunk a lot of money into Tex Murphy because I know they need my money.  But what's more- now I need your money.  Because my money is not enough.  Without your money, my money will not get a game in my hands.

Neat! I didn't watch the whole video, but I like what I saw. Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to back such a project, but I wish it well. Also found that the original games are on GOG.com, so I added them to my wishlist!

I just wanted to tell you good luck, we're all counting on you.

Two people have pledged $10k. That's a ton of money. Were you one of them, Dr. Xhonz?
