Oooh wow, that sucks, Fink. My mom has freakishly small midget hands.
Dear C3PX and Ringo (since everyone else is still on ignore),
I just finished a 10 hour run through Wolfenstein (the recent one). Relatively 'meh' though I'm not sure why. It's very much like COD1-3 in the sense that you're shooting Nazis and have some freedom loving soldiers joining you in the fight, you use iron sights, etc... But then there are all of the supernatural elements. Which are pretty cool.
But for some reason, this doesn't gel into a must-have-experience for me. I like all of the elements. And it's decently fun to play. But never completely compelling.
And now a word about the achievements- a full 50% are online only and I won't be pursuing those. I never really heard about the MP for this game, so I can only assume it was neither hotly anticipated or better than everyone's low expectations.
The SP achievements are about half "you'll get them as long as you play the game" and half "you'd be insane to get all of these." There were two that I didn't have after finishing the game that I thought were worth a few minutes to go back and get.
Perhaps that was part of my disinterest in the game. I hope not, because that would make me quite the shallow gamer... But I'm investigating the posibility. Perhaps had I been more regularly rewarded (finding 100 pieces of Nazi gold (which I did) as well as finding all of them (which I didn't)). I ended up with ~300 points off of it, ~100 of it all came together at the very end of the game. It only took me 10 hours, so it's a better pph than, say, the 120+ hours I sunk into Oblivion for 1250 points.

In related news, I'm playing/enjoying my son's allowance purchased copy of Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. This probably ranks just below Web of Shadows for me, which ranked just below my memory of Spider-Man 2... The additional of the Noir and 2099 playstyles are pretty fresh. I'm a little disappointed in the "Ultimate" universe since it's so similar to "Amazing." And Assassin's Creed "1602" set of levels would have been awesome. But probably more expensive since it would have been a 3rd true departure in formula and playstyle like the 2099 and Noir levels. I also like that each level is based on the world of one of the villains/bosses. It really works for a Spider-Man game since playing a 20 hour game to defeat one supervillain seems like a wasted opportunity.
And the level based challenges are good for game-overachievers like myself, but so far have put few requirements on my underachieving/uninterested son.
And the Deadpool level is pretty funny. Not the funniest rendition of Deadpool that I've seen/read. But not bad.

The new Wolfenstein had one of those demos that severely underwhelmed me. It just came out when I bought my 360 and I was really interested in it until I played the demo. It felt too much like the various Medal of Honor titles I had been playing on the PS2 for a couple of years before I got the 360. The supernatural powers didn't seem that cool, especially to a guy who had just got his first taste of Bioshock.
I've never really played any of the newer Spider-Man games, I did beat Ultimate Spider-Man on the GC, and found it an enjoyable but ultimately forgettable experience all in all. I really loved the one on the PSOne/PC the first of the 3D Spider-Man games, and it was amazing. Tried playing it again a couple of years ago and it was painfully dated and I couldn't get used to the controls; but my first half a million times beating it were great. I was hooked on that game since I first got my hands on a disc with the demo for the PSOne, which made me seek out a copy of it for the PC.
The PS1 Spider-Man game was great, but you HAVE to play Spider-Man 2. They nailed it, and then forgot what made it cool.
I played Spider-Man 2 for hours. Well, I can't say I actually played the game, more like swung around town for hours on end. Nothing quite like climbing up the Empire State Building and leaping off the top, swinging away at the very last moment.
*exhaled breath*
Good times.

I've actually been meaning to check out wolfenstein, I might see if i can find a cheap copy.
I think some of the stores nearby are still stocking the collector's edition of Bioshock 2 so I might look into trading in Duke nukem forever and getting a copy of that, hopefully tomorrow.
I'm kinda surprised I never played B2 but since I'm really just 'waiting for November' right now [halo, elder scrolls, et al] it's probably a good time to jump in.
re: Duke Nukem, i was always going to look into it but it's a pretty sad state of a game, firstly - it's an incomplete mess bolted together into a rough narrative, secondly - it borrows and steals ideas from better games - and insults those same games [verbally] at the same time and thirdly they've made Duke Nukem into an absolute cunt of a character - you kinda want him to get his ass kicked.
Went round to a mates place during the week and we ended up firing up conflict: desert storm. Anyone remember this guy?
I always loved the 2nd one but for some reason it's not supported on 360. Took us back to playing through those games as a team.
I'd played them all except the newest one - Conflict Denied ops.
Fired it up and discovered in horror that it was a completely different style of game - a crappy shooter for two players with basic goals and a fairly non existant inventory to manage - also no weapon pickups - you keep what you have with unlimited ammo.
I was hardly surprised to learn the company [Pivotal] shut down after releasing that turd of a game.
What posessed them to throw away a great formula in favour or something so lackluster?

I am not sure if the collector's edition is the same in Oz, but the American collector's edition is only cool if you are in it for the original Bioshock soundtrack on vinyl (which is pretty fantastic, listen to it all the time). Other goodies are the art book, which is cool if you are into art books (to me it is a one time thumb through curiosity that just kind of takes up space), the BS2 soundtrack on CD (never opened mine) and the massively bulky LP sized box it all comes in (which really isn't that pretty). All in all, if you aren't in it for the vinyl and the art book, it isn't worth the extra money. Right now a used copy of BS2 in the states costs less than a used copy of BS1, I think it was $8.99 at gamestop last time I looked, but I know things run quite differently there (any chance you could buy it offline from the states, seems like I heard our discs and yours are the same region? But I could be very wrong on that).
Anyway, yeah, BS2 would be an extremely worthy time killer while waiting for the fall releases.
@Xhonzi, you better be playing/planning on playing Fallout 3.
yeah, i forgot to mention - Bioshock 2 Collector's edition CHEAP. not at Collector's edition prices.
In any case i'll look into it. always meant to check it out just never did. Same with Alan Wake - but then when i finally did play that I didn't like it.

Chillax, holmes... I'm saving it for my "bachelor weekend" like we already discussed.
You know, I can send you my address and you can send me your BioShock Collector's stuff you don't want any more. :)
Wow, this thread is about a million times better since I ignored all of the non BioShock fans.
RE: Wolfenstein again. Maybe I got this out the first time around, but here's another try: This should be the perfect game. Super spy infiltrating Nazi castles and zeppelins and whatnot and using a supernatural amulet in the process? FRINK YEAH! But why wasn't it fun? Somehow the whole was less than the sum of its parts.

C3PX! I just bought that Omega + Lil Sis + Bunny Mask from TRU for $22.50. Their clearnance stuff is 25% off this weekend.
Thought you'd want to know.
It's not the Classic Big Daddy... but it's a start.

Anyone ever playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R series?
http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?member=Harry+Tasker+2525
I played the first STALKER. It was awesome, especially with the AMK mod for it.
The other two were supposed to be better and better again, though I haven't played either of the yet due to lack of money/computer. My brother, however, has and seemed to really enjoy them.
I'm a fan of the series' lore, though. The concept is pretty awesome. Very fun game, despite a few bugs. I recommend it, and the AMK mod for the first one. =P
Keep Circulating the Tapes.

"Changing classic movies at all is just wrong." Puggo
"HA, Ha, you r ghey" was probably a hilariously insulting comment in Elementary and Middle School, but its not cooly insulting anymore and its certainly not funny: it makes people who say it look like, well, an "inbred monkey." TheSessler

I'm playing through FFVI now. Got quite a ways up the tower (including beating a dragon) and was annihilated. Sigh...

Cool! That is tempting! Wish the mask was still intact enough to cover your entire face, I love the whole wrecked look, obviously it wouldn't really be a splicer mask without it, but it is a little too wrecked. I also really like the red little sister with the baseball head Alpha that it comes with, and you can always use another little sister, but I am not a big fan of the look of the Alpha/Omega series Big Daddies (if it came with a splicer instead of the Omenga, I'd probably run down to my local TRU and grab it right now). For now I think my BS toy collection is pretty sizable with the Bouncer, little sis, and big sis. Hard to justify having more clutter, and there are so many cool ones if I keep going I might not stop. If they ever make a Rumbler Big Daddy though, I really won't have any choice but to add him to my collection. I've always loved the look of the Rumblers. I'd almost consider getting a Rosie too, being such big Big Daddy fanatic, but from the detailed youtube videos I have seen of it, I just can't help but not that impressed.
I gotta say it feels good to be back on Rapture, rescuing little sisters and taking down those 'bloody sploicers' [sic]
Those big sisters are challenge though - they always knock me on my ass.
Just 100%-ed Assassin's Creed 2. Did do all the side missions but got every achievement, my first time doing that. Cannot wait to trade it in and get Brotherhood.
