Hey All!  New here.  Ive a PS3 and highly recommend both "uncharted" games.  I just finished the 2nd uncharted last week and the graphics and visuals were stunning.  Story and gameplay outdid the 1st one  IMO.  Next on my list are both "resistance" games.

Welcome to the thread, Nudist.  I thought you might enjoy my ramble about UC2 when I finished it earlier this year: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Video-Game-Thread/post/417953/#TopicPost417953

I'd give the game a solid 8/10.  It was definitely good, but it didn't really resonate with me the way it did with other people (who might have given it an 11, were it possible).

Yeah, Ive beat the 1st AC and Im looking fwd to tackling the 2nd.  I heard the game was improved during production in all facets.  Anybody play the "resistance" games?  Ive beat the first one and Im gonna replay it before playing the 2nd.

I have Resistance 1.  I've had a hard time getting into it, but I know I need to make another effort.

And ACII- orders of magnitude better.  If you liked the first one, the 2nd one is going to flip your lid.

Yes.... also DJ Hero (game + table) is apparently on sale through the rest of the day at Toys'R'Us for $20.  I guess they're flying off shelves, but might be worth a stop on your way home if you're so inclined.

Not worth $15? Was it really that bad? What didn't you like about it?

Way too short. And the longest mission was the Marines one, which just wasn't very enjoyable, unless you like getting lost and running out of ammo constantly.

Maybe part of it is being bitter about being SO EXCITED for it and buying it for $60, only to have so much fun playing as the non-humans which only took a few hours at best to get STUCK on playing as the Marines getting my butt handed to me by the VERY ALIENS WHO I WANTED TO KEEP PLAYING AS.

The stealthy Aliens were awesome, just picking off the dumb humans one by one, making hissing sounds to scare them, leaping from a ceiling behind a guy and standing up behind him to eat his brains...

On second thought, that may be worth $15 alone, but I'll get mad if you buy it after I already sold it and now can't try the multiplayer.

Awww, then if I get it I will be sure not to let you know about it. ;)

Though to be honest, I think your description has sold me on it... just don't want to spend $15 on a game at the moment... :(

Don't get me wrong, the Predators are great too. But both of their campaigns were super-short.

And for others thinking about it: GORE. There is not a font big enough for the ridiculous amounts of blood and guts in this game. I'm not saying I didn't like the game because of it, quite the opposite. Seeing some of the ridiculous kill animations for the first time made me LOL. However, the next hundred times got a little tiring, especially since they start ganging up on you and someone is shooting you while you are ramming your tail spike through their entire body vertically and ripping them in half..

FALLOUT: New Vegas - Collector's Edition (360) is paid off albiet $6.50 of it.

Lately I've been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl with the Complete 2009 mod added. Holy shit words can't express how awesome this game is. One of the PCs hidden gems. Glad I bought it when Circuit City was going under. Now I'm wanting to buy the two expansions. I highly recommend this game, especially with Complete 2009 mod of course.

What's the Complete 2009 mod?

Also, I sent you some more Blue Prints.  I made a TIE Fighter today:

I hope you didn't send any Star Wars crap. Have any for retro-futuristic planes, trains or automobiles?

Complete 2009 mod is for better graphics, interface and things. Basically makes the game look amazing. Look up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009 on Google. Should have screenshots there. Damn great game. I'll be buying Call of Pripyat and Clear Sky soon from Amazon.com

I don't know about anyone else but I'm extremely fucking irritated at LucasArts making ANOTHER fucking damn what the fuck Star Wars video game instead of an Indiana Jones game for XBOX 360, PS3 and PC. How about I make a petition for an Indiana Jones game? Yeah sure it'll fall on deaf ears. By the way, it's The Force Unleashed II. If I were rating the game for a site I'd give it an automatic 0/5 or 0/10 score especially for blatant overuse of an IP instead of working on other series.

Where's my Grim Fandgo II and Indiana Jones (current generation)?

Sort of on topic. I vastly prefer an actual manufactured physical release over a digitally distributed version. Who cares if I don't have enough living space, I'll still go and buy it in the case etc. Maybe I just grew up where if you own something it's tangible that you can hold and display instead of just being bits of data where only an icon or something similar is all you have to display for it. Games I'm still interested in you bet I'll buy it fully in the box with everything. Yes, I'd rather purchase The Orange Box in its own case, being the retail release, over some download on Steam. Feels like it's cheating buying a video game online and downloading it compared for that search for a particular game which takes sometimes years to find. Whenever I'm purchasing a video game online, you best be damn sure it's the full retail release instead of just the discs.

I'm still looking for boxed complete CD-ROM/DVD-ROM editions of several games in fact.

Erm... don't check your inbox then.  Sorry I assumed that you would have a general interest in Star Wars seeing how this is OT.com.

Not caring anymore about the OOT.

Geez, dude, lighten up! I think that may have been the most depressing and negative post I have ever seen in the Video Games thread. It made Skyjedi posts sound bright and cheery by comparison.

Seriously? Another Indiana Jones game? Have any of those even been any good? The last Indy game I played was Fate of Atlantis and I thought it was great, but has anything good with that brand name attached to it been released since?

If you'd give a game a zero out of whatever just on account of it being from a series you think is over used, then I am extremely grateful you don't work for any game sites. The fact is while you and I may not care about them, SW games tend to sell, the first Force Unleashed went over extremely well, so it is not surprising that a sequel is coming out.

As for Grim Fandango II. Eh, please no! Love to see the first one make its way to Xbox arcade with high rez textures, but the first one was a really great game on its own, and a modern addition to it could be nothing more than an awful cash in. Had a sequel to Monkey Island 2 never been made due to Ron Gilbert's departure from LucasGames, no doubt we would still be hankering for Monkey Island 3. Fortunately/unfortunately that game was made, and it taught us a valuable lesson... sometimes things are best off left alone.

As for physical media, I am a fan of it myself, and in a world where limited edition collector's editions are still the norm for major titles, I am not too worried about it going the way of the dodo anytime soon. The nice thing is, for people who would rather just have their games stored on their console or PC's hard drive, that option is there. I have gotten into the habit of buying Xbox arcade games, and it is quite nice being able to sit on the sofa and load them up without need of disc, or to be able to download them and play them on a friend's console while on vacation without the need of dragging my discs with me. So I can definitely see the appeal for having all your games in this manner. But I am still too attached to having my collection displayed on a shelf to be content with that being it. So I can see it from both sides. It is also worthy to note, even though many of us are paranoid, myself included, about what our ownership status of these non-physically purchased games are going to be five or ten years down the road and if we will always be able to get access to them, that they do hold the advantage over physical media in that they don't scratch, can't be stolen, lost, or destroyed. Which is kind of a nice and comforting thought. While all the other games in my collection could be taken away from me by various methods, for the time being, Braid and my other Xbox arcade games will always be waiting there for me to re download, even if my console is somehow lost.

Interesting that you say it seems like it is "cheating" to download games off of Steam rather than purchasing a hard copy. I am really trying to get my head around exactly how that is "cheating" and who or what you would be cheating by doing so... takes sometimes years to find a game? Wow, that has honestly never happened to me. Seems like you have made the purchasing a video games a sport and hobby in and of itself. If there is a game I want, I walk into a store and buy it, or I hit up amazon or ebay. If that turns out to be fruitless, then I turn in desperation to the seedy underbelly of the internehts until I find what I am looking for.

What does annoy me, however, is that real physical swag is getting to be a rarity in both pre-orders and in collector's editions, and is rapidly being replaced by codes to unlock exclusive items. I for one kind of liked the cheap silly little crap they used to give away with pre-orders.
