Rented Borderlands, didn't care for it. It's like a first person Diablo, the only point is to get bigger guns. Not my kind of game.

Borderlands is fun with other people, but yeah.

Any suggestions on all of this. Boarderlands, worth it or not? The DLC for RE5, any good? Shadow Complex, really as great as everyone says?

Maybe just hold your money and wait for a bit? - there's a bunch of new stuff coming out in the next few months.

I don't buy new stuff. Too much money. I wait until it is old and then get it. The reason I want Boarderlands is to co-op it, I think it'll be worth it and is kind of the way I am leaning. I'll grab it used at Gamestop, if I really don't like it I can just return it.

Wasn't it delayed? Either way, Portal 2's release is a long way off, I'll have money for it when it comes.

Shadow Complex was definitely good.  I think that genre is not necessarily for everyone... but you probably already know if it's up your alley or not.

There's a decent demo.  It'll give you a good idea of the game.

Any PS3 owners here play Demon's Souls? I picked it up on sale a couple weeks back. It has difficult, unforgiving gameplay, but not in a cheap way. When you die, it's because you screwed up. I'm not usually into action RPGs--most of my combat time in Fallout 3 was spent in V.A.T.S.--but once I got the hang of it, I started to enjoy it.

The other game that's been occupying my time is, of all things, Angry Birds. I've been playing the iPhone version, but it's available for other mobile platforms. Pretty addictive and challenging puzzles with great cartoony graphics, sound effects, and physics. For 99¢, it's a no-brainer.

Man, every time I see Jay has posted I get all excited, thinking I'm going to be banned and I can resume my normal life.  Then I see it's just some post about LOST or some video game.

Hey ive been missing out on all this off topic stuff!

I've got an xbox!

just started really, after giving up on a load of rpg's (rpgs's not my cup of tea)

I've now got 3 i like:

Halo ODST : never played the other Halos and heard this had all the multiplayer maps and a campaign thats not linked to previous games.. so far i die a lot in mulitplayer! :(

MOD2 - not tried mulitplayer yet

Alan Wake - I like this, didnt think i would after the first few minutes but its more like a CGI movie with interactive bits - which can be nice if im not in FPS mode.

Alien Breed Evolution episode 1 - Great, isometric type diablo thingy with guns! but in 3D - reminds me of ALIENS movie

Worms 2 :)

I got the xbox for Fallout 3 but oddly enough its my least favorite now, theres just too many rpg elements in for me - would be cool if it was a free roaming FPS - RPG lite.

Didnt like borderlands much either.

I Live in England, but would be cool if I could join in with you guys on gaming sessions.

Congradulations! You've just taken your first step into a larger world. ;)

Welcome to off topic. We goof around a lot in here and make idiots of ourselves, but we have a lot of fun in the process, so that makes it okay.

I'd be happy to play online with you. Looks like the only mutual game we have is ODST.

What is MOD2? I googled it along with the word "xbox" and got a few hits talking about Modern Warfare 2, is that what it is? If so, that is another one I have that I would be more than happy to play with you. I have full stars on all the special ops, but I would be more than happy to try to help others get then aswell.

Hi Ric/DrunkenEwok/Possessed Dude - I thought it had gone quiet in the Star Wars forums cos there was no Ric Olie - and was trying to find out what had happened to you.

Then Tv's Frink put me on to the off topic forums and this is where its all at now!

I think MW2 is the accepted 'hardcore' reference for MOD2.  Or COD:MW2 to be painfully clear.

I'd be happy to play some ODST with you as well.  Especially if we could set up a Firefight game with C3PX.  What's your gamertag so we can add you?

Also, you're about 7 hours ahead of me.  So... how would that work, exactly.

(And thanks for picking up an avatar... makes all the difference, and now we don't have to beat you with licensed lightsabre replicas and throw you into our nearly fully grown sarlaac pit...)

I wanted to make a big long post about it, but I can't seem to get in the mindset, so here's the short-short verison:

I loved BioShock2.  I don't know if it's as good as the first (there can only be one first time to Rapture) but I think it is.  If that makes any sense.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed II now.  I really dig it.  It's extremely well done, a HUGE improvement over the original and a very good game all around.  If you looking into AC1 and gave up on it, it's probably worth checking in again with AC2.  It's also on a pretty decent deal on gamefly currently.

Seems MOD2 is a fairly common abbreviation, but I just don't get it. What would MOD2 even stand for? Modern of Duty 2? MODern warfare 2? I just don't understand the logic in that shorthand.

This isn't directed as a complaint at you cutnshut, I am just pondering it, because through google I see it is used quite often and I can't quite get my brain around it.

You gamers watch The Guild?  I just started watching and loving it, despite the fact that some of the gaming jokes go right over my head.

I watched the first episode shortly after starting our short engagement with WoW. I thought it was great, but its hard to get my wife to watch stuff online. I started downloading them from Xbox Live, but our older box suffers with lack of hard drive space.

I Netflixed the DVD.  Extras are pretty cool (including a great cast commentary).

I think the other regulars in this thread need to post their Piles of Shame too, so I don't feel too bad about mine...

I did pick up Splosion Man and Castlevania SotN on that sale last week.  I haven't been listing XBLA games on my pile of shame, but I guess I should have been since they cost money, take time, and are fun.

Also, the Monkey Island 2 trailer out of E3 was pretty cool.

Holy crap, we never talked about E3 here!!!  Any comments?

I'm still interested in the Kinect (Natal), but most of the games they showed didn't really wow me.  The hardware is cool and ripe with potential... hopefully something comes out that will really knock it out of the park.  I'm hoping it gets mainstream acceptance enough that "regular" games will start using it for head tracking.  That's my biggest hope for it.

I won't get a Move for my PS3.  Unless something drastic happens.

I still don't have a DS, but I must be the only one.  Maybe someday, but I'm not sure when I would play it.

Portal 2 looked awesome, Castlevania LoS looks great, Halo looks like it will probably be good, but I'm worried that I'm Halo Burnt out.  That, and as we've discussed before, the new asthetic to Reach turns me off.  I'm excited for Force Unleashed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and Gears of War 3 looks solid.  I'm not sure what's so great about Rage.  It looks like another Fallout 3/Borderlands kind of game.  What am I missing that it was so well liked at E3?

Rock Band 3... it will be insteresting to see how this goes over.  I don't play real guitar, but I'm thinking I might splurge and get the real 6 string electric guitar and try to learn with RB3.  If that part of it is well reviewed.  It's also nice to see the vocal parts expanded as it was in Beatles RB.  I have several DLC songs that I hope they update, because they don't make sense with "solo" vocals.  They keytar looks cool, but I'm not sure about it yet.  I'm hoping it works with my Stage Kit (smoke and lights) but at this point in time, I doubt it.

phew so i got the pic up just in time then - i know how it feels to get hit by those things, my sister used to beat me up all the time with my own one :(

So im guessing it doesnt take 1000 years for a not fully grown sarlac to digest me??? anything less than 100 years and u gotta ask yourself whats the point???
