Yup.

Wow, that Philips CD-i controller is exactly the same design as the old Gravis game pad I use to have for my PC circa 1995, it is exactly the same all the way down to the screw in mini joystick on top of the d-pad.

I foresee that link being erased in the near future. But then again, it is a soundtrack to a series of old NES games, so maybe not.

FINALLY got my copy of SSB Melee. Haven't had much chance to play it yet. One thing that I find very annoying is that stupidly placed Z button being the grab/throw button, while so many of the easier to reach buttons are used twice for the same function, for example both L and R seem to do the exact same thing as does X and Y. What is the point of that? I wish you could remap the controls, that grab/throw thing I tend to put to over use. All of you who remember playing SSB on the 64 with your friends, I am sure most of you had that one annoying friend who would constantly be grabbing and throwing everyone, well, in my circle of friends, that was me. Hmm, perhaps they put it on the Z button to make it hard to use in order to cut down on over use.

It's not like you can buy the soundtrack anywhere and Melee is one of the best games ever. Leave 4 player vs on all night to get Mewtwo.

To throw you can also hold down the shield button and tap A, 3PX.

Oh Chaltab, you are such a great guy! Thanks. Now I can stop contorting my hand into odd formations in order to reach Z.

You can get Mewtwo as a playable character? I am no fan of Pokemon, but that would actually be cool. So to get him I guess you have to log a certian number of multiplayer hours? Ah, I'll just look it up. Already Unlocked Dr. Mario and Jigglypuff after an hour of playing.

Sean, since you like the Angry Nintendo Nerd, have you seen his console wars reenactment? It is by far my favorite. Here is the link for anyone who has not seen this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chE1CBJinSM

Careful though, it is chock full of everyones favorite word beginning with the letter "F", just so none of you try watching it in front of your kids or anything.

Not sure if anyone's gotten the same message or if word's out yet. I got a call from GameStop's automated system today telling me that SSMBB has been delayed until February. No joke here. This is the message I received. Forgive if this has already been posted but I don't have time to search.

Well, I think I just about unlocked all but three of the unlockable guys. Surprising how easy it is in this one. I remember in the original spending a long span of time trying to complete certian tasks in order to gain just four hidden characters. I remeber some of those guys being pretty hard to unlock. Especially Ness. With this one the hardest one to get will be Mewtwo looks like, since I need to play either 700 games in VS. or 20 hours of VS. I really don't have too many friends that play games where I live now, and the ones that do are not really Nintendo people. And on top of that I only have one controller. I'll just have to let multiplayer play an hour here and an hour there, I don't really like the idea of leaving it on overnight, use to do it with my old systems all the time, but I am kind of weary about doing it on a CD based system. They just seem kind of delecate to me.

Iäve done it tons of times and it never was a problem for me. I remember doing it for Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the Dreamcast.

With the X-Box or 360 that would probably kill it, but I think the GC would be safe. It was by far the most durable system of last gen.

I have heard of people accidently leaving their PS2s on all night and coming back to find a melted laser lens. Since my old NES (which is very likely the poorest quality Nintendo console) is still working to this very day, I have come to expect pretty decent products from Nintendo.

I try to stay away from 3rd party products thats why I never bought any other wireless controllers other than The Gamecube.

Man the Gamecube's market value is falling like a rock. My local Gamestop had a bunch of them for $39.99 the other day.

I hope the Wavebird's follow suit, as you can never have too many first party controllers with flawless wireless functioning.

Yeah, that is Gamestops regular price for them. That is the reason I bought one. $40 plus $5 for a year warranty. Used PS2s still go for $99.99, and the old bulky PS2s go for $79.99. XBox for something like $110 I think. Now being the owner of both a PS2 and a Gamecube, I can say that if my Gamecube died on me I would be okay without replacing it for a while, but if my PS2 died on me, I would be at a loss. Much like with the N64, the GC games that are good are really good, much better than those of the PS2, but there are very few good games that are unique to the GC. I really hope they make a big effort to fix that with the Wii. I would really like to see it become true competition to the other consoles and not just because of the Wiimote and the low price tag. Which of course is the other reason Gamecubes dropped in value so much, the Wii is 100% backwards compatible with GC games, and it is only $249 for a brand new system, which makes the GC very replacable. PS2s and Xboxs still hang in there because their successors are not 100% backwards compatible, and their successors cost close to four times as much as they do brand new. Brand new Cube is $99 while a brand new Wii is $249, compared to a brand new PS2 at $129 and a PS3 at $499 (and I think that is just the price of the 60gb edition, which is no longer being made, editions with larger hds cost more.)

I was talking about the systems themselves, but yeah, I have had rotten luck with 3rd party products. For my old N64 I bought two InterAct brand controllers to save money, they worked fine for a while, then their joysticks stopped responding correctly. The Logitech wireless PS2 controller is third party, but it is also officially licensed by Sony and I have only heard great things about it.

I've yet to use a third party controller that's as good as the original. What I don't understand is why they bother to change anything to start with. Why do so man PS2 third party controllers, for example, have an 8-Way D-pad instead of the four-way D-Buttons of the standard Dual Shock? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. 8-Way D-Pads are are terrible if you need precision and aren't any good for 3D when you have a joystick.

Now that I have a sixth gen. Nintendo console, I have finally started looking at what games they made for it, I knew they made a couple of Metroid games, but I was surprised to see how many Gameboy/NDS games there have been as well. It is funny that for close to 20 years there had only managed to be three Metroid games, The original, Metroid II for the GB, and Super Metroid for SNES. But now the amount of games with "Metroid" have more than doubled. Zelda feels the same way, from after Majora's Mask it seems they started releasing Zelda games left and right, most of them on portable systems though, when from 1985 - 2000 there were only six official Zelda games, now there are fourteen! Again, within just 8 years, the number of Zelda games managed to double. Same thing is true with Star Fox, though to a lesser extent (so far!). From 1993 we had Star Fox and then in 1997 Star Fox 64, a remake of the original. Then from 2002 to 2006 there have been three sequels. And with the Mario games... man... I am not even sure what should be considered the sequel to Mario 64. Mario has always been that way though. But with other series that I have liked so much for so long, it is kind of sad to see them cheapen by going for quantity over quality when it use to be the other way around. I can see a huge drop in quality with the newer Zelda games and the newer Star Fox games. Metroid Prime is the only of the new Metroid games I have played, it was the first new Metroid since Super Metroid, and it is amazing, to me it is what Ocarina of Time was for Zelda and what Star Fox 64 was for Star Fox. I haven't played any of the other ones, I am amazed at how many there are though. I hope it hasn't gone the quantity over quality path many other Nintendo titles have, but I don't think you can develope so many so fast and have them be as good as they ought to be.

Reguarding the Metroid series:

Prime is the best of the 'Prime' games. Metroid Prime 2 is still a good game, but nowhere near as well-designed as the first. Prime 3 is better than Prime 2, but still not as good as the first one.

Both Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission for the GBA are fantastic, however. Those are definitely two you must play.

Prime Hunters is only worth it if you can play a DS online and are really good at it. The single player game looks gorgeous but is pretty unremarkable. Prime Pinball is supposedly good... You know, if you're into pinball video games.

Yeah, what you said Chaltab is about what I suspected about the Prime games. Glad to hear the GB Advanced games are good. Someday I will get an SP and when I do those iwll probably be the first I get. Man, I wish there was away to unlock the old NES Metroid without having a GBA and Fusion. It would be fun to be able to play that again without having to hook up my old NES.

The thing is, Echoes and Corruption aren't worse than the first game because of their relativey quick development cycles, but because of conscious, intentional design decisions. Echoes' biggest problem is the Dark World being far more dull than the Light World, and the fact that your Light and Dark Beams require ammo. The biggest problem with Corruption is that since the action is split over multiple planets, it feels a bit disjointed. The incredible pacing of the first game is absent in Prime 3 because of the need to fly back and fourth between planets and even between docks on the same planet.

That said, they're still both better than 90% of what's on the market, just to put things into perspective.

Man, I wish there was away to unlock the old NES Metroid without having a GBA and Fusion. It would be fun to be able to play that again without having to hook up my old NES.

Well, you can also get it by beating Zero Mission on Hard Mode (I think)..

I refurbished my NES for $8 including shipping. I can't believe how well it works now! It is JUST like new, no exaggeration. That thing had 'blinking red light' so bad that I thought my copy of Super Mario Brothers 3 was broken because no matter what I did I could never get it to work while other games would. So SMB 3 was the first game I tried, I plugged it in, and turned it on, and it played without a hitch.

I just replaced the connector inside the system. I got a brand new one off ebay for $8 including shipping. They are plentiful on ebay if anybody wants a functioning Nintendo again I can reassure you this is the way to go. I was considering buying a top loading NES II, but the original front loading unit is a lot cooler. Alright, I am going to go waste some time on Duck Hunt now.

Huzzah for 3PX's NES.

Anywho, I went to Gamestop... then Wal-Mart... then K-Mart looking for Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, which was supposed to come out today. None of them had it. But at K-Mart I happened upon a game I've heard good things about, Rogue Galaxy with a price sticker of only $10, so I bought it. (And actually ended up only being charged $7 for it.)

Not had time to play it yet, though. Anyone here know about it?

I bought my NES 2 (the second version) for $3 at a thrift store it came without a controller.

Man, three bucks for an NES 2, that's a steal. I had planned on replacing my NES with an NES 2 for years, I was just waiting to find a cheap one, of course now I don't need one. The biggest thing I have against the NES 2 is the different controller style. I like my old boxy controllers. The ports are different shapes too right? I could be wrong on that, but as I recall they are different, which would mean no zapper or powerpad.

Hmm, I have never heard of Rogue Galaxy, but I just looked it up and IGN gave it a good review. Sounds like it is worth $7 bucks at any rate.
