Hmmm... the jewels in my gaming crown?

1. Defeating SMB all the way through, no warps, no deaths.

2. Continuing in a playoff run during EA Sports NHL98 with a desperation, last second blue-line slapshot against the Penguins with 1.2 seconds on the clock.

3. Defeating my older brother and his friend consistently in Karate Champ.

4. Defeating Tyson in Tyson's Punch Out for the first time.

5. Tolerating the save system in WW... Just kidding!

Has anyone played Sonic and the Secret Rings? Picked it up this weekend. The beginning of the game, especially the narrative section, is incredibly tedious and difficult to sit through.

However, once you get going I think it's pretty cool. I enjoyed the original Sonic and Sonic 2, so playing it in 3d with the Wii-mote was a treat for me. Definitely worth at least a rental.

No, this is on the old grey box. The real deal. I reached the final stage of Ninja Gaiden (1) on the old grey box as well, but I couldn't get over that last hill without save states on my computer.

BTW Chaltab, Hi again. I haven't been on here for a good year but you are one of the few names I still recognize. Times sure change. Are Bossk, Warbler, Motti, Dayv, StarTrooper, etc. still around?

No, no, no, no, and no, unfortunately. Motti stopped posting a while back when he got sucked into the World of Warcraft, and Dayv, Bossk, and Warbler left because of an argument with Jay. StarTrooper, I'm not sure about.

Let's just put it this way...Sonic + (edit) x youthful stupidity = disaster.

I have to admit, Sonic's transition into 3D has not been a graceful one. It really shouldn't be that hard. Sonic Adventure was a promising first step, back in the day, but everything since has been just as buggy, and altogether driven far too much by voice-acting and extra characters.

Strip it back down to Sonic, or Sonic, Tails and Knuckles if one must have more than one character; put in some special stages to earn those Chaos Emeralds; kill the voice acting PLEASE; and get some collision detection, PEOPLES!

Or what the hell, why not just a 2.5D game? A classic 2D Sonic platformer with 3-dimensional Sonic, enemies and obstacles?
MTFBWY. Always.

Aw, that's sad. I remember the old Rankings thread. Not to get too off topic, and I definitely don't want the details, but what was the argument about? Direction of the site, personal stuff off the site, or just a personality clash? Or do we not know? I'm definitely just looking for a one sentence answer, I don't want to get into gossip.

The site's not the same without them.

Back ON topic, does anyone have the slim PS2? Is it true it doesn't give you a true 16:9 picture? Just a scaled one you have to zoom? I have a message out to Sony right now to try to get to the bottom of it, but I fear we got GYPPED. (no offense to any Gypsies). First of all, it seems Sony is veering toward the "screw the customer" end of the spectrum, and second, this just drives me farther toward buying the xbox version whenever I have a chance.

What's the deal with my favorite stuff and forced letterbox presentations? Sheesh.

I have no idea, though it really doesnt' matter much to me as I dont have a widescreen TV. Still, if you're into that and have a Slim Line PS2, you're defintiely getting jipped.

Put a deposit on Phantom Hourglass today. Coming in October.

I am having a TON of problems with the Wi-Fi connection for my Wii. It's really irritating me. Not sure if it's a problem with the hub itself or my pc. Grrrr

Proximity? USB 2.0? Problem with the adapter itself, or the Wii connecting? Cordless phone interference?

Just trying to help you out here...

Let's go back to the crown jewels conversation, though. That was interesting. What's y'alls' proudest moment/acheivement from gaming?

Another one of mine was reaching stage 5 or 6 of Gun.Smoke (again, on the original NES with no turbo)

Howdy. Thanks for the info.

It started out as the connection seemed to keep dropping. For instance, I would fire up the Wi-Fi registration tool, then the Wii wireless test, but the Reg tool would not initialize properly. I tried reinstalling it. Same problem. There is some significant distance, so I tried moving it closer (within the recommended 30ft, I believe) and nada. Now I think there's a multitude of problems as my system will not even recognize it any more. Going to bring it down and plug it in within 5 feet of the router and see if that makes a difference. Cordless phone is on a different floor, and no interference on my other wi-fi devices.

Most of mine have been sports game related, which I have always found to be satisfying in their "celebration" when you win a championship. Baseball Stars was good at this with the newspaper headlines.

How about most humiliating/frustrating game moments?

Mine has to be losing the baseball championships after being up 3 games to 1 in a best of 7...something the Yankee fans of the group can related to.

I am a gypsy. And despite your "no offense" I still feel very offended. I am thinking of leaving actually. Thinking Posting a goodbye thread. Seeing if anybody really wants me here. I might even stay gone for two whole days before coming back too.

Hm.. Do you have a firewall installed on your computer, Sage? I have to disable my firewall any time I try and log on with the Wii.

Yes, though it's turned off.

I should add that it worked fine for several hours, overnight before starting up.

I've noticed that when connecting via the Nintendo USB adapter, the Wii can get a little...tempermental.

I've had limited connection issues over the last couple of days, which is why I aske you the questions I did.

My solution, and it seems to work, is to go into the Wii menu and confirm all of your connection settings and perform the connectivity test under "Internet."

Also, you can check your PC. If you have the Wii Connect 24 enabled (which you should) in Windows XP a message will pop up every few minutes to let you know that a user is connected to the Nintendo Wi-Fi service. That's your Wii. I like seeing the message because it's sort of assurance.
