I hope the new Prince of Persia is good.  I've loved PoP since the early CGA days, and the Sands of Time Trilogy was my favorite.  I knew it was time for Sands of Time to be put to bed and let something new in, but I wasn't overly thrilled with the direction they took PoP7.  Until I played it.  I never liked it as much as SoT, but I still thought it was pretty good.  When they announced that PoP8 was going back to SoT, I was actually disappointed they weren't following up with a true sequel to PoP7.

I played the God of War III demo on the District 9 BD.  It was all right.  Too gory for me, I'm afraid.  As a non-PS gamer for so long, I was afraid I was missing out on the God of War games.  Turns out the clones and copycats have had me occupied just fine.

I'm playing Uncharted as I mentioned above.  I like the game except for the combat.  It occured to me while playing- I shouldn't have to cringe everytime the room fills with thugs, but I do...  But it seems very repetitive and boring.  The exploring and the story are fun though...  Can't wait to see how they've fixed this in UC2.

We have a lot in common....

My POP story is the same, though the new one was a little simple in comparison I still enjoyed it and wonder if they are abondoning the story altogether or just taking a side-step to help promote the movie...we will see.  I think if they added a little more to the sequels the new incarnation could be really great.  Warrior Within was my least favorite of the old series but those chase sequences with the dark creature after you were thrilling...I keep hoping they will put them all on one ps3 disc in 1080p though I know the series doesnt have the following that GoW does

Uncharted 2 gave you more options with stealth so you didnt have to just blaze away as much but it did have its share of shoot outs.  I found that if you looked around there was always some way to clear out a bunch of thugs.  Ive never played shooters in the past (except for goldeneye) so I was in the same boat as you with hating the endless shoot outs but by the end of the game I started to enjoy it.

Bully is a lot of fun. Never got into any of the GTA games, but absolutely loved Bully. PS2 is still a really great system, now with plenty of really cheap, and really good games.

Noticed a few weeks ago my local Gamestop was is/was trying to clear out their slimline PS2s, selling them for $39.99, which is a steal!

Warrior Within started out as my least favourite, but was #1 by the time I finished it.  I thought the story was the best/least predictable.  I liked the "free-roam" nature of the play.  I really liked that the dagger powers were moved to your chest-armour so that you could choose weapons in both hands.  The ending I thought was best.  When I started Two Thrones, I regretted that it seemed the puzzle nature was slimmed down.  I also felt cheated by not being able to decide when to become the dark prince...

That is funny,my little boy was watching me and he said that is really seemed a lot like KOTOR and I told him that it was the same company (Bioware)that did all the games we like,so last night I had to run him to the store so he could spend some of his allowance on his own copy of Mass Effect,he is 9 and he already beat Dragon Age Origins and is now working on Mass Effect,he already told me he wants to start saving for the Dragon Age Expansion and Mass Effect 2.

I think this is cool how my little guy likes the exact same stuff I do LOL

yes he did,he did NOT want to use my copy,he wants his OWN hard copy of the games he likes,I think he also gets that from me,I will NOT borrow anything from any friend or family,I want my own copy no matter how much or rare it is.

so we have 2 versions of Dragon Age Origins also,1 Collector's Edition and 1 Standard Edition, along with Wolverine and a couple others.

and now I am on the hunt for another copy of Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion GOTY for him, this I will buy for him since he is taking such a HUGE liking to RPG's,plus he wants to start saving for Dragon Age Awakenings,Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, and of course Mass Effect 2.

He spends his allowance money which he gets from me and he really has no chores to do anyways so I am really buying them anyway LOL.

I'll tell you, pawn shops are a great source for that stuff, especially is the games are slightly older like ME. Most will hold stuff for you if you find what you want. Just tell them to hold it for you so your son can buy it himself. I know you'll save some money and make him happy at the same time.

I don't think we have any pawn shops by us,at least I have not seen any.

So who here is getting Mass Effect 2 tomorrow?

I'm usually a year or two behind.  It used to be six months, but that six months of Oblivion set me further back.  :(  I will start Mass Effect 1 here pretty soon!

Just head toward the poorer part of town and you'll probably come across one... Or check your local phone book (or internet), I am sure you have at least few.

Mass Effect 2 is currently my life. I AM Commander Shepard until I finish this game, at which point I will reenter my normal life.

Anyway, FANTASTIC game. One of the best I've ever played. They really took everything that sometimes made the first tedious and reinvented it to create IMO the perfect Role-Playing Experience: an emphasis on story, not mucking around in menus. I haven't been so wrapped up in a game in a few years.

Yeah, half the time in ME1 was spent sorting through the clumsy menus or treading dust in the mako. I finished ME1 pretty leisurely but this one I can't put down. The story, the writing, the cinematics, the characters, the combat, the Normandy! Everything about this game is damn near perfect. Only thing that feels a bit tedious IMO is the mineral search, I think I may have actually preferred to Mako a bit, because at least you got that sense of exploration

I am probably one of the people that does not like the direction they went with in the second mass effect game.  Played up the shooter elements and played down the rpg and exploration parts. If i wanted to play halo or gears of war of would play those and not mass effect.  Damn EA.  I knew something like this would happen.  Well there is always DragonAge Origins, and final fantasy XIII to look forward to.

Damn though the second time bioware screwed things up on creating a perfect trilogy.  Last time was Kotor by handing off the second game to Obsidian and some crappy mmo replaced the third game.

Plus the characters in ME2 don't act like the same people from the first game, and they listened to the whiners about the mako and hard sci fi elements and dumbed it down for the 5 second attention span people who thought the new star trek was the kewlest evah!.LOL.

If i wanted a dumb action game ala GTA in space i would not be playing a mass effect game.  They ruined mass effect the same way Lucas has ruined star wars and indiana jones, bay has ruined transformers and jj has ruined star trek.

Though I am in your boat when it comes to Lucas and the SW franchise, how could Michael Bay ruin the Transformers franchise when there was no body of work to compare it to? The 1980's cartoon (along with its movie) are apples compared to Michael Bay's Transformers oranges. You can't ruin something that wasn't good to begin with.

I have to totally disagree. Give the game another chance: the deep story is still there, the hard sci-fi is still there , the writing is even stronger and more emotionally involving. The traditional RPG gameplay elements are toned down however, but the inventory system in ME1 was neither fun nor did it make any sense in-universe. The Mako was somewhat poorly implemented, but I'd like to see it return in ME3.

I spent easily as much time talking as I did shooting in ME2. play out all the loyalty quests, go Paragon, and really invest some time into the world: It feels to me like Star Trek meets Star Wars with some modern edginess thrown in.

SPOILERS:

The changed attitude of Liara was disappointing, (and the cold reception by Ashley/Kaidan if that's the route you went)I'll concede there, but they probably wanted to tempt players to pursue a new love interest.
