Hey folks, wanna help me with something? Really? Great, thanks!

I'm looking for this font:

Those are from the Star Wars 2006 Poster Calendar, and I'm wanting to use the font in a Star Wars RPG I'm currently working on. So if any of you typography-minded types are seeing this, and can point me in the general direction of this font's indentity and/or location, that'd be just super.

To keep this all slightly more on-topic for the forum, if anyone is interested in Star Wars role-playing type activities just lemme know, and I'll see about getting a copy to you when a workable PDF is finished. I'm aiming at September 12th for the final release date, but I'll need some playtesting and what have you before then.

But yeah, I'm mostly hoping that anyone who might know where this font is can give me a hand in this endeavor.

I have the calendar on my wall now. When 2006 is over, I'm gonna cut out the poster parts of the ones that are my favorites, like revenge of the jedi. How far is the RPG?

Heh, I was planning on doing the same thing until I realized that on every month's poster, there's a little mini picture that overlaps it a bit. *bleh* I guess they knew someone would do that otherwise.

Anyway, a little background on the RPG: It is based on the Storyteller system from White Wolf Games. I've always liked that system because I felt it better lent itself to the fast-paced, story driven action of Star Wars. Basically, the entire rules system focused more on getting things done and moving on with the story then adding together a million different modifiers just to see if you can tie your shoes. The changes made in the newest incarnation of the Storyteller system make the whole thing even better.

Couple this with the fact that the World of Darkness Rulebook is where you find all the basic rules, and the other settings (Vampire, Werewolf, etc.) just build off of that and define their own systems where needed. So what I’m doing is writing this game based on the same idea, and you’ll need the World of Darkness Rulebook to play, while what I’m writing defines a few changes to the system where applicable and gives all the background information for the setting. If you’re familiar with the World of Darkness setting, don’t worry about the angst factor… I’ve stripped that out for the Star Wars conversion. It’s just the mechanics that I think are elegant... not the Morality system.

Making sense? Of course it isn’t. Look at it kind of like the way D&D runs their settings: you buy the Players Guide and the Dungeon Master’s Guide (or whatever the hell they call them now), so you’ll know how to play the game. Anything else, take Forgotten Realms for example, just defines the setting in detail, since the rules themselves have already been covered.

I’m doing this because, quite frankly, the D20 system that the current incarnation of the Star Wars RPG uses is clunky and involves more rules then I think Star Wars ever needed.

Oh, crap... you asked how far along I am, didn’t you… um… well, the rules for the game are damn near completed as of now. I even have a character sheet designed and ready, so in about another week the game should technically be playable, though a little sparse on setting details (meaning you’ll have to wing it for things like adversaries and a lot of ship stats and what have you).

I've played White Wolf's system and think its great. The only problem is that the combat system for it is very slow. My personal suggestion would be to come up with a system that would speed up the combat. My friends and I came up with one that elimiated the dodge rolls and instead added it to difficulty of making a hit, with a conversion factor. We also modified the soak rolls, but is been a couple of years since I've played Vampire or Mage and can't really remember anymore exactly how we did it. But I would think that Star Wars would involve even more combat, and therefore combat times would increase dramatically. Just a idea.

My personal RPG favorite for Star Wars was the old D6 version.
But I'd love to see what you've done with Star Wars with the White Wolf system.

You really should check out the newest incarnation of the Storyteller system, presented in the World of Darkness Rulebook.

They've streamlined the combat system quite a bit. You have a Defense trait that is automatically subtracted from incoming attacks (not firearm/ranged attacks though, but I've changed this for Star Was to make it better fit the setting). So that’s one less roll you need to make per attack, and if you actually choose to dodge, you simply double your defense trait for that turn as an action.

Some have complained that the new system makes combat "too boring". But I've always been of the opinion that if you're letting the numbers on the dice define the flavor of the combat, then you're playing the wrong game in the first place. (I can even point you in the direction of an excellent post on the White Wolf forums where a guy gives a great play by play of a typical combat scenario, in which he sat down and actually rolled the dice, making it all up as he goes along. It’s quite a good read for prospective Storytellers.)

I was going to get that poster, but then I realized that for the first 6 months of this year I would have to suffer through prequel crap. My vindication wouldn't come until next month and for me, I want my WHOLE year to be loved.

Plus, the Jedi end of the year there are SE scenes in there. No thank you.

EDIT: Am I thinking of the same calendar?

Doesn't look like it... the only SE stuff on the December page is a very small and subset SE poster.

This is the one we're talking about.

I'll have to look at the new system. White Wolf was my favorite RPG, but I haven't played it since they ended the old series(Vampire:The Masquerade and such) and restarted it with the newer games. Glad to see that they did make combat faster. I remember playing, and taking forever to finish off some combats.

Font issue solved... turns out to be UltraBronzo, in case any were interested.
