I honestly think the transfer is great.  My idea would be to sync it to PCM and cut that MGM logo off the head.  :)

 What about the Orion logo?

It's still there...but it's preceded by the MGM logo.  While I like it, it doesn't belong on RoboCop.

And like the UK terminator it makes it a nightmare to sync

:-(

If someone does manage to sync it, please share the exact settings/delay you used to get it in sync with the 4K blu-ray.

Thanks

The Criterion DVD also has a PCM track.

Nope I just ripped it, both tracks are ac-3

Someone for the fun of it should re-add the Orion Home Video/Orion Pictures combo logo that was featured on the original vhs for nostalgic purposes. Sure this wouldn't match the original theatrical presentation but it would still be interesting.

Yeah, sorry - the Criterion is AC-3 only. The laserdisc track needs to be synced, no doubt about it!

As for the MGM logo, tsMuxer enables you to set a new entry point without needing to recode the video. It's surprisingly precise - I'd just sync the PCM to the 4K picture as-is, and then those who are fussy about the logo can trim it when they mux.

Yeah but finding the start point is the issue

For what? The audio? I very much doubt it'll be a case of sync and go - there'll be frame differences at all the reel changes at the very least. Whoever syncs this will have to do a fairly precise job of it, and the best reference will be the DTS-HD from the Blu to ensure picture sync (MGM logo and all).

After the two have been matched up, the logo can be eliminated at the mux stage for those who so desire.

I still cannot sync terminator and that had the exact same logos

Sync'ing a laserdisc track perfectly with the BD video was a pain in the... you know what! (^^,)

But it's rewarding! DVD should be easier, though... I have never had a problem; when the DVD has missing frames - not many, let's say 2 or 3 - at reel changes, I simply add "null" frames with audio, and the soundtrack will stay in sync!

Still, nobody wrote anything about the test color grading I did... a simple "I hate it", or "I love it"... or also a "leave it alone" will be appreciated! (^^,)

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

Not sure if this helps but I have synced the LD PCM track with the Criterion DVD. Maybe someone can just try to time shift it to fit the new BD.

I'm trying to sync the LD Criterion PCM track with the new BD and having some trouble around the 22 min mark where they kill murphy. Theres like a 250ms drift here and I'm not sure if there is an easy way to fix it. It's a rather busy part and no silence add/delete from. I'm no professional though and don't have much experience with these things.

That's where the first "unrated" scene is, so perhaps that's the cause.

So looks like it's missing a frame or two on the new BD.

The only thing you might be able to do, is try to get the 4.0 dolby track from the last BD (which is closer to the 2.0 dolby mix) and see if you can use that to help edit it. I'm no expert either, but it's only thing I can think of.

Unfortunately don't have a BD drive on my PC. Track was downloaded elsewhere. Besides even with the 4.0 track I wouldn't know what to do with it!

Think I may need to pass this onto someone else :(

Of course have the PCM track synced to the Criterion DVD if anyone wants it.

Hey no problem, I understand. I tried having a go at it myself and gave up when I ran out of space on my PC.

Oh dear, this isn't going too well!

Ok, if someone can provide me with the PCM laserdisc captures (the originals, not pre-synced to anything) I'll get this done over the next few days.

I did wonder...

Wonder about what? How it compares to the Sony?

Thanks for the PMs chaps, the sync is underway now.
