Why didn't they just call it the Alien boxed set? Ah, well. It doesn't really matter. It's a kick-ass set that presents both versions of all four movie in crisp anamorphic widescreen (athough I wish Cameron had supervised a new transfer of Aliens, and The Abyss while he's at it) and booming 5.1 surround sound interpolated from the original six-track with a fantastic plethora of extras for a reasonable price. I suppose complaining about a made up word is nitpicking.

Well, they could've called it The Alien Legacy, but they'd already used that title for the first boxed set. As for the Aliens transfer, I don't know why so many people have a problem with it. Cameron himself has said that it was meant to be grainy, and I found it to be very faithful to the theatrical experience. Digitally removing the grain from Aliens would be like cleaning up the "archive" footage in Woody Allen's Zelig, or transferring O Brother, Where Art Thou directly from the camera negative; it would go against the director's wishes. Just my two cents

All of which were taken from the same master, correct? I think that, with him back in the chair, they'll do one to put "from James Cameron, director the action-packed Hollywood Blockbuster _____ ______." Fox knows an anamorphic release would sell. I'm sure that we'll see one eventually. But maybe I'm wrong.

Cameron has overseen each transfer. He prefers the non-anamorphic (though not because it's non-anamorphic.)
