I KNOW THAT MANY OF US FREQUENT thedigitalbits.com, BUT THIS THREAD WILL BE AN ALTERNATIVE. AS AN INDUSTRY INSIDER I HAVE ACCESS TO QUITE A BIT OF INFORMATION ON UPCOMING DVD RELEASES. THE BITS WILL ALWAYS HAVE A WHOLE LOT MORE INFO THAN I WILL, BECAUSE I'M JUST ONE PERSON REPORTING THE NEWS HERE. I WILL TELL YOU THAT WHAT I POST HERE WILL NOT BE RUMOR OR SPECULATION. THESE WILL BE COLD HARD FACTS.

I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE ED WOOD FANS SOME GREAT NEWS. THE ED WOOD SE DVD WILL FINALLY BE RELEASED 10/19 !!! THAT'S NEXT TUESDAY, MY FRIENDS.

FANS OF THE SW CARTOONS AND EWOK MOVIES WILL BE EXCITED TO READ THAT SW EWOKS, SW DROIDS, ANDSW EWOK ADVENTURES (DOUBLE FEATURE: CARAVAN OF COURAGE AND THE BATLE FOR ENDOR) WILL BE RELEASED ON DVD 11/23. THE S.R.P. IS $14.98 EACH.

I think most major retailers get their shipments at the beginning of the week, so it makes little sense to realese a DVD on friday.

They did the same thing with Shrek in 2001. It's kind of a turf war thing with Pixar (in 2001, Shrek came out on DVD the same day that Monsters, Inc. opened in theatres, and this year, The Incredibles opens on Nov. 5).

On a side note, one of the Canadian discount chains is advertising S2 as being available on Nov. 2 (on Cineplex screens, no less).

Stores dont receive the items the day they are released. When I worked at Toys R Us during high school we actually had episode I figures at least 2 weeks before their release date. How do you think some sites offer dvd preorders that will arrive at your door on the release day? I'd say more than one studio, since Catwoman is Warner, Collateral is Dreamworks/Paramount and I, Robot is Fox (I still think it would've been fun if Fox had cast Ewan McGregor in the Will Smith role and changed the title to 'Aye, Robot").

Ok, i saw that happy gilmore is coming out in a widescreen version on 11/30 but its packaged with billy madison....is it gonna be released by itself in a widescreen format?

Really? I'm curious, because Fraggle Rock was co-produced by the CBC; just how much of a following does the show have in the States? From what I understood, it was only shown on cable.

It was a pretty big deal when I was a kid. Yes, it was only on HBO (I believe), but I loved it and watched it religiously. I know my wife was a fan as well.
