Paranormal stuff isn’t real.

That’s a rather broad statement, since Paranormal covers a lot of stuff.

Disagree, and I don’t mean to speak for OP but I don’t think this thread was meant to discuss the paranormal, at least in it’s common usage.

You are correct, I was just issuing a blanket statement for all things unexplained, from UFOs to ghosts to sasquatch.

It’s hubris to throw everything not easily explained under the bus. The series Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious World and it’s two follow ups, remains the most evenly balanced discussion on UFO’s and other strange phenomena I’ve ever watched.

I have to agree. It is THE best discussion on it I’ve ever watched as well.

UFOs are definitely REAL. That’s because nobody can deny that there have been flying objects that haven’t been identified. When I was in college, my sister and I saw one - we immediately looked at each other and said “did you see that?”. We still like to discuss what we each think we saw.

More to the point is whether those UFOs are of extra-terrestial intelligence in origin. To that, I have to say that sadly I don’t think any of them are. I really REALLY wish they were, because that would be really cool. In fact if any ONE of those “visitations” turned out to be real, it would be the coolest thing that ever happened on earth. I just think that the current science makes it seem highly unlikely. It is also telling that most of the observations are so different from each other. If we were being visited, I think there would be more consistency in the stories.

I also don’t think we will ever be able to participate in any sort of reasonable speculation on this topic, or make contact with other intelligences, until we get some sort of handle on the meaning of (and possible interrelationships between) time, space, gravity, and consciousness. Right now we don’t have a clue what any of those things are, so how can be possibly presume to have any idea what is what in the universe(s)? They are so basic, and we are so clueless. We’re like sea slugs, totally clueless of the ocean around them and beyond.

I totally understand your point Puggo. I do wonder though, if our government retrieved black project crafts and not UFO’s, why not just say they were black project craft? Why change the story numerous times?

I think we can have a reasonable discussion about how anyone of us sees an event we witnessed even if we could not identify a craft/flight phenomena we saw in the sky.

I did see a documentary a year or two back about how government agents interacted with the UFO believer community over a period of years to further obscure black aircraft projects. I think it was on the Discovery channel?

They have had some pretty bad tactics over the years when dealing with them and the Bigfoot community. I’ve heard stories of people searching for signs of Bigfoot being watched by Government agents, being stopped by them, and after a sighting or incident occurs, they are rushed out by them only for the area to be scrubbed of any signs those people were there the day before.

A lot of weird ass shit happens to all these folks.

That’s news to me. I can’t imagine what the government’s interest in Bigfoot would be. Does it happen near restricted areas?

People don’t go to Restricted Government Areas looking for Bigfoot. They do go into the wilderness in remote locations to do it. I could not tell you why they follow some of these people but it might have something to do with National Parks and the rather disturbing number of almost impossible to explain disappearances in them.

I meant maybe overeager Bigfoot hunters accidentally trespassing into remote areas the government doesn’t want the public near for safety or security reasons.

None that I’m aware of or that I have seen reported.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread for it or not, but I really like that old urban legend of Polybius - the killer arcade game.

.

I remember reading about that in a magazine as a child. I wonder who came up with that.

Isn’t somebody making a “real” one now? There were so many games with limited distribution in 80’s arcades, (I’ve never seen an Atari Empire Strikes Back in person) that a mysterious game few have played had an air of plausibility.

The Vegas casinos used to have large arcade areas to keep the kiddies away from the gambling, (and they may still do) and I saw games there I never saw anywhere else. Never found the elusive Starfighter though. 😉

Pics or it didn’t happen!

I mean, for almost the past decade there have been cameras everywhere, a majority of people carries a camera with them all the time (the one that comes attached to your smartphone), and when something extraordinary happens, there’s photos and videos on the net the minute after. Tsunamis, earthquakes, meteors, tornadoes, thyphoons, nuclear accident… All those disasters have been extensively documented. So, where are the photos and videos of UFOs and other extra-terrestrial sightings?..

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!
