UFOs and Aliens

What do you think? Do you believe? I personally think aliens might of had a effect on human evolutions ala 2001. Many cultures have drawings or story's of men from the sky. And I am watching The X-Files while writing this.

Yeah, I think it is incredibly conceited to believe we are the only living species living within this vast expanse known as space. I dunno how confident I am that they have actually visited and influenced us though.

On the risk of sounding like an idiot i think they may have visited us in the past and are still sometime coming our way,we have a few example that some of their tech were retrieved (Roswell Kecksburg etc) a government or military does not threaten people over a stupid weather balloon or Russian probe.

I find it odd that an intelligent race (let's face it, if they can travel through interstellar space, they're pretty intelligent) would come across the galaxy and then kidnap some hicks in order to find out how we work. I also find it odd that they'd be able to travel across space and wouldn't be able to navigate a storm (ie a lightning bolt downing one in Roswell).

If they're intelligent enough to travel thousands of lightyears in a short amount of time, they should be intelligent enough to make a real first contact.

The government does threaten people over national security issues though. The SR-71 Blackbird is the fastest plane in existence. It doesn't take a real stretch of the imagination to figure that that plane may have been one of the "UFOs" spotted in the past. If it was flying at night, all you'd see are two glowing objects side by side, moving across the sky at an incredible rate of speed. Remember, with full afterburners, it flew from LA to NY in, what, 1.5 hrs? Do the math and you'll find that it was exceeding, I think, Mach 7.

My take on UFOs is that it's just bleeding edge government technology being tested. The F-23 (JSF) and the SR-71 fall into that category.

My thoughts exactly.
And I think if we ever face somthing alien it will probably be some sort of probe and not a spacecraft with the actual aliens in it.

I do believe somewhere in the universe there is other life/intelligence but I'm not sure it will be similar to life on Earth or like anything we can imagine.

Based on statistics, we could not possibly be the only intelligent race in the vast universe. Its practically guaranteed. But what people don't realise is that, based on statistics, not only is it virtually guaranteed that we are not alone, its even more likely that we'll never meet them. The amount of planets, vast distances of travel, and relatively short life spans of species pretty much shows that we'll forever be millions of years and billions of lightyears apart from one another, totally ignorant to our mutual existance. At best we should hope to discover signs of life, such as ancient (by the time they reach us) transmissions through space, or perhaps one day primitive wildlife on a planet. As far as alien abductions and UFOs, based on the one in a billion-trillion-trillion odds of another super-intelligent species contacting us and not only that but secretly experimenting on us, the most virtually guaranteed stat of all of these is that the few isolated reports are simply cooks and liars, people with psychological disorders that genuinely believe such experiences happened, and most importantly confidential military technology of various sorts. I mean theres a reason that the hot-spot of all UFO's is a top-secret freaking military base! People don't put two and two together.

If they do exist, let's hope there are gayliens as well!

I think if aliens have ever been here they would be traveling at something similar to warp drive or you know if you are moving at the speed of light time will move faster around you 50 years to you can seem to be hundredsof thousands to the out side universe.

Well they come here and probe the hicks they abduct,so they must be Gayliens

Time doesn't move faster sean. The faster you go, the more time appears to slow down. This has actually been scientifically proven. Clocks were put onboard jet aircraft after they were synchronized with ground stations. The planes flew at high rates of speed and at the end of the experiment, the clocks on the planes were millionths of a second behind. That's not much, but it proved the validity of Einsteins theory.

The problem with a "warp" drive, at least by our current understanding, is the amount of energy it takes to "warp" space. The amount of energy it would take to do that is so great that you'd expect the beings that did it to have some other purpose beyond cow mutilations.

It's a bit more complicated than that actually. Based upon what I guess Sean was referring to, he's actually right to a degree (though science is pretty sure that we cannot reach the speed of light).

According to the theory of Special Relativity, anytime you observe something moving, its time must be moving slower in comparison to your own position's time. So, if we were to say that you left the earth in a rocket ship and came close to the speed of light (in comparison to the earth), you'd then see time on earth as if it were moving slower (and people on the earth would observe the same about you). However, a single moving position does not completely describe the way its entire frame of reference will intersect an observer's frame of reference. To make a long story short (the long story being Lorentz contraction) you're actually moving into parts of the moving position's entire frame that are farther in the future than it is. In our example this means that if you were to decelerate back to a speed that is seemingly at rest with the earth's position, you'd observe the outside universe as having aged far faster than you. (Your clocks will have moved more slowly in comparison to the outside world.) So, as Sean said, if you were moving at the right speed and you accelerate and decelerate at the right moments, 50 years (to you) could be hundreds of thousands of years to some other frame of reference.

As long as they don't implant their eggs into my chest I'm totally cool with the Aliens and UFOs.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.
