This looks really cool! I see a tiny typo in your back cover text. Should be "its" instead if "it's" before "natural concept" if you haven't frozen it yet; no big deal if you have of course. Again, cool stuff! Hope the last .1% goes smoothly for you.

Good catch, thanks! I sat there typing it, knew the proper way to do it, and I still did it wrong.

I was just about to load the DVD_Rom into the folder to burn.

Some interesting ideas, here. I didn't think the film itself was really that great, but some of these changes could help. Changes in score throughout the film would be wonderful, I think, as it seems like the score is just taking itself way too seriously all the time, and actually got distracting in its constant "OMG, THIS IS SO EPIC!! SEE, YOU CAN TELL BECAUSE I'M USING BIG MV SYNTH CHORDS!1!1!!" feel. However, if the LP song could be switched out for some kind of underscore, that would be fantastic, because the ending monologue by Optimus has the potential, with the right scoring, to be a really cool, chill-inducing moment (think the end of Wrath of Khan), but instead, it feels cheap.

Good luck to anyone attempting this, and I mean that sincerely.

Yeah, as you surely know, that's the mistake that everyone makes often, myself included (in my supposedly knowing better).

Again, nice job on this this from what I can see so far, and I hope your next waves of editing go well...and it seems musicman's tip on the soundtrack might be worth giving a go on one of them.

I may have to go to Botcon, and secretly record Peter Cullen narrating the final speech, so that I can do this. The score is a bit "over-epic" at points, BUT, it could have been a Nu-Metal puke fest over the whole thing.

The next cut I do will focus more on cutting parts that I couldn't cut, due to lack of skills/tools in the first cut. Some of the stuff I left in, because I like the humor, or because it's wrapped in relevant plot points. There are a few things that I'm going to cut, that the viewer will have to take for what it is, and fill in the backstory themselves. An example would be the Sam buying Bumblebee scene, which unless I can cut up (damned fiesta music all over the thing) effectively, I'm going to scrap entirely. Sam's dad tells him he's going to get him a car, later on Sam goes out in his new car. Pretty easy to fill in the story on that one.

Allright, this mofo is in the can! I'm burning a dozen or so copies to be mailed out. I'm going to start with SL discs, and if there is any interest, I may upload a DL version. The SL looks just fine on my projector, blown up nice and big, but it is shrunk to 66%. The retail disc shrinks to 61% with all the audio options except the 5.1 mix deleted, so my edit is about the same or slightly better than what the retail disc would shrink to.

I want to once again thank everyone who made suggestions, and helped me with the tons of questions I had while making my first fanedit. I learned a ton of crap, and had a pretty good time doing it. I definitely appreciate the work that has gone into all the great edits and preservations I've discovered and watched through this (and the other) site, even more than I already did.

I hope you guys enjoy this, though I know some won't because I left some of the humor in, and a few scenes that even I didn't want to leave in. I just wanted to make a cut that had a consistent, smooth audio track, without getting into advanced audio manipulation. I also wanted to retain all the pertinent plot points, and some of the better humor. If this is not your cup of tea, hang on a few months, and should have the "hard cut" finished. After that, if I still have the energy, I'll be making a Generation One cut, using voices, sounds and maybe a little music from the original series and movie.

Drop me a PM if you want a copy of this (assuming you own the original). If anyone is handy at tor rents, that would be appreciated too. Thanks again, roll out!

As I was set to start burning copies of this, someone asked me if I had cut a certain scene out of the movie. I had been on the fence about making this cut, and my earlier attempts at removing it where obvious at best. I had planned on figuring out a way to cut it out in the second cut, and was fooling around in Womble to see what I could figure out. Well, I found a new way to cut it, and it works perfectly. Watching the edit all over again, I realized that the scene is totally irrelevant, and needed to be cut now. Soooo, I did it, and it pumping out of TMPGenc right now. Since I had everything else already done in DVDlab, it should be easy enough to just drop it in, and re-export it again. I expect it to be fully done tonight, and I will be mailing out a couple copies tomorrow.

I'm interested in this as well. I tried to do a fan edit because I thought there was so much potential between the goofy attempts to attract teenagers, but I soon realized I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Thanks. Really looking forward to this project. I've read the posts on here and would put myself in the category of one of the biggest transfans. I actually loved the live action movie. My biggest disappointment with the film was not casting Frank Welker as Megatron. If you could pull that off in the second cut, that would rock. I thought most of the jokes in the movie were funny. There was too much American Pie type of humor in the movie though. I wish Frenzy and the Dew bots could be totally cut without losing some of the plot. Can't wait to see this edit.

Nice to see another Transfan in here!

You know, I was disappointed at first when I heard that Welker was not going to be in the movie, but I think Weaving did a good job. I actually heard a recent tape of Welker doing Megatrons voice, and it wasn't quite as good as it used to be. I'm sure they could have beefed it up in post, like they did with Weaving, but it's too late now. I'll probably wait until the 3rd/G1 cut before I attempt to use the original voice. It's going to be quite a task, as the old cartoons loved their background music, and it's hard to seperate much dialogue.

Frenzy has been reduced a slight amount in this first cut, and most of his silly noises and english dialogue are gone. The ad-bots (dewbot/xbox-bot) are completely gone. While they're interesting Transformers, it kind of cheapens the Allspark, in my opinion. I may even cut the phone-bot in this next cut, not sure yet.

I don't think this will be on newsgroups (at least no one I know is putting it up yet), but it will be on RS, and probably torrents eventually. If you have too much trouble finding it, just send me a private message (make sure to turn yours on in your settings first).

Will it be torrented? Is there an NFO file with list of changes?

Congrats are in order btw... a promising movie with a lot of annoying parts mixed in, sadly.

OK Everyone,
Here it is,and it is pretty damn good, the DD 5.1 sound is great, and it is 16:9 anamorphic widescreen, static menu with sound, scene selection, credits menu, and an easter egg.
I did not see or notice any hard cuts in sound or video, but a couple of the scenes were just a tiny bit to shortened for me,but it still was very good.
All the goofieness reave took out of the movie is not missed at all,so if you are a Transformers fan give this edit a shot.

links are posted in the rapidshare section at FE

The sound of the GAU-8 gun is so fucking awesome and I was disappointed when I saw Transformers and found out they used some dumb standard machine gun sounds or something. The A-10 in Transformers sounds like it's firering a bb-gun or something. Did you by any chance change this for your edit? Probably not. Damn, why didn't I think of this before you finished your edit.
Anyway, I'll download your edit and check it out. It sounds pretty cool.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.

I haven't seen this yet but I'm hoping for the best. Obviously the film could use improvement.

I will say that I thought I read that you removed The "perfect day" scene with the soldiers, I hope this not the case. Sappy or not, it's one of the few human moments that really works in the film for me. It also helps humanizes them instead of them simply bieng Micheal Bay puppets.

Nope, I didn't know enough about the A-10 to know the difference. If you can supply me with a good clean ac3 (preferably 5.1 mix) of it, I'll try to get it into the next cut. I did consult with some military friends about the "bring the rain" line, and they told me that it was unrealistic in that military personnel would not add extra chatter when engaging an enemy. So that went bye-bye.

Whoops. Tell you what. If you want it back in there, I might make a special focuspuller edition for you. Or if you're handy with the editing, you can pop it back in easy enough.

I didn't really mind the scene, I was just trying to get into the story a little faster. Really, I didn't mind the movie as it was released (minus a couple of real cringe-worthy moments), so it's not like I was trying to dismantle the movie out of hatred for it, I was just trying to tighten it up. The hard cut will probably remove the whole soldiers intro scene, and just go right into Blackout heading towards the base.

I hope you guys are finding this, I would like some feedback on it, to possibly apply to the next cut.
