I AGREE. EVEN THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE IS DIFFERENT. YOU HAVE "STAR WARS" AND "STAR WARS SPECIAL EDITION."

Technically, you could argue that it's had three different titles in its various releases. When it first came out in 1977 and again in 1978, it was simply "Star Wars". When it was rereleased in 1980 for the release of ESB, it was "Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope". Then, in 1997, it was released as "Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope: Special Edition". It was rereleased a couple other times in there, but I'm not certain of the dates. I'm thinking 1982 and 1985 for some reason, though.

From what I've read, the original SW was released in theaters on five different occasions (all different years).

'78, '79, '82 and 85. '85 was a rerelease of all 3 in limited markets.

Totally! My grandfather (who didn't know a lick of English) took me to see that, and it was at the Stanley, the last genuinely classy single screen theatre in our city... ah good times
