Idea: Titanic - with a John Williams Score mix...

I have an interesting idea. How about taking the bulk of John Williams’ scores, for films like the Star Wars saga and other things like that, and synch them up to Titanic. I have already figured out with careful editing, you can put the Duel of the Heroes cue from Episode III to the scene where Titanic is sinking, and Across the Stars could make the perfect theme towards Jack and Rose’s romance.

Sounds a bit crazy to me..

Why? Horner's score to the film is perfect. Is there a reason you want to put Williams' music to Titanic, as opposed to any other movie?

Yeah, I really don'y understand why you'd want to do this. What didn't you like about Horner's score? And it might be hard to drop the score from the film unless you have the original audio elements.

Many of you may think it is crazy, but look at it this way. James Cameron wanted to get John Williams to compose Titanic, and James Horner was selected because Williams was too busy working with Spielberg. So what I am saying is that this could be a look, or a reconstruction of what might have been, had Williams had been free to do the score for the movie. Don't believe me? Read "Titanic and the making of James Cameron", and you'll see what I mean.

Wouldn't that just make it sound like Star Wars?

Still, in the end, it's not music composed for the movie. It's music composed for other movies that you think could fit. Nothing entirely wrong with that, but while we're at it, let's replace James Newton Howard's score for King Kong with Howard Shore's music from the Lord of the Rings. Or replace John William's score for Superman with music from Jerry Goldsmith's body of work.

But if you do this yourself, Cameron originally wanted Enya to do the songs for the movie. So you can throw in some Enya songs. And apparently, he also wanted Reba Macintire for Molly Brown so maybe you can cut and paste some footage of her from her sitcom or something.

Well, it's Williams music, yeah, but it's not John Williams Titanic soundtrack. It would be John William's Star Wars soundtrack that you listen to while watching Titanic.
