Time to get assertive — Page 2

I ask, in all seriousness, if a new petition is actually going to be written or if we'll have to wait until the SE and not the OOT is released on blu-ray disc for an excuse to do so.

Thought it would be in vain, we would be better off doing it earlier because that we could try to curb the problem. In vain, of course.

Since Lucas is constantly changing his mind and rewriting the Star Wars OT mythos, all we need to do is wait a few years, and he will probably come full circle and be back to just wanting the movies as they were originally.

OK, I have another problem, in case you didn't know: I have a widescreen TV. Is there any hope in enjoying the GOUT there? I doubt it You can zoom in on the image, either using your TV's zoom controls or your DVD player's. Usually, the DVD player's zoom function will yield better results.

Do a search for more info - there are several older threads in this forum that deal with this issue.

Yes, the original letterboxed DVD of The Return of the Pink Panther.

The original DVD of Blade Runner was also only slightly better--of course it was a laserdisk port too AFAIK....and was also released on DVD in 1997...

I'm sure a few of the early 1997 DVD's come close to GOUT quality, since DVD was in its infancy and since it was common to simply port over Laserdisk masters in those days.

Zombie, the old dvd of blade runner was in fact anamorphic. It just looks like total shit compared to the new remaster for a variety of reasons.

I watch the undestroyed version of RotJ on a 51 HD TV in 16:9 zoom mode and it looked so good, at times I still fear that I had put the destroyed version in instead. even if it didn't look good, well, I'd rather eat out the rotten asshole of a roadkill skunk than see hayden Christensen's evil leer pasted on Sebastian Shaw's body.

Seriously, maybe we should develop a thread dedicated to explaining our acronyms that we use here at ot.com

It took me a couple months to figure some of them out myself.

Well, maybe that thread was not exactly what you're looking for after all.

I can relate to the way gf is feeling about all this. I might just have to cut myself off from Star Wars for a while because it's going to drive me nuts waiting for LFL to announce something and it's definitely not happening until next year at the earliest anyway. In the mean time, I'm comfortable not paying 60 dollars just to have a slightly better looking picture and the option to watch it in french and spanish. Releasing those damn GOUT dvds was the most poser thing LFL ever did, especially when technically none of the movies have been released in their OV on dvd, but the exploitation of people's nostalgia prevails.

I was having a talk with my friend the other day and echoed something written around these boards from time to time. If Lucas hadn't fucked with the originals, people probably wouldn't hate star wars in general as much as they do. Of course, the problem with saying this is that if Lucas hadn't changed the originals he probably also wouldn't have made the prequels the way he did.

Again, the past is the past.

Can we please all make some agreement on either making a new petition or what we're going to do when the next release actually is announced if it doesn't have what we want in it?

You guys are more than welcome to sign my petition. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but it's showing to be pretty popular for the first 2 days.

more signatures would be very helpful. Thanks
