My goodness that is impressive. I loved that show when I was a kid... but not enough to drop money on the DVDs.

That's coming out thru Time/Life, only thru their site.  They've had Get Smart available that way for years.  Earlier this month, they finally released it at retail but in a stripped down version.  The T/L version is 5 discs per season, with the 5th disc being all kinds of bonus materials, interviews, vintage stuff, etc., in addition to commentaries and such on the episodes.  The retail version is just the 4 episode discs with no extras and no commentaries.  Once they get their mileage out of RG, they'll probably do something similar, so it may be a few years before they release it at retail.

Wow, that's great!  I loved that show... still do.  But a 25 disc release has gotta be pretty damned expensive.  How much is it?  And is anybody else having trouble seeing the picture?  I can't see it at all.

I suppose you also thought that awesome Blade Runner set was overkill to don't you? But yet a 4,000 box of stills is a worthwhile collectible? Come on man, I think it is great you appreciate the limited edition hand selected stills, you a fan of that kind of thing, that is cool. Fans of Blade Runner, like me, absolutely loved the  overkill Blade Runner set, mostly because it was overkill, it had everything you could ask for and more. It was awesome. This Ghostbuster set sure isn't pointless over kill for anyone who was a big fan of the series when they were kids. It is nice when you can buy one box set and have everything you could ever possibly want, unlike the SW set which is rereleased with full expectation that loyal fans will buy it again every single time.

EDIT: Image shows up fine for me Gaffer, the image also includes the price, pretty steep at $179.99.

Heh, it would just be me.  I've tried the "Show Picture" option and even went to the URL directly.  Neither would work for me!

And, yeah, $180 is pretty steep, but, still, it is 25 discs.  That's only a little over $7 a disc.  Quite a bit less than $4,000, though, right?  ^_~

Heh... TOEi could learn a thing from these dudes!  Do you know how much they charge for their true remastered DragonBall?  In the thousands!  I think DB is 2000, and DBZ more!

Well, they technically don't charge anything anymore since the Dragon Boxes were limited edition and haven't been sold in a few years.

Still, it turned out better than FUNimation's faux-remastered cropped "season" boxsets.

You probably wouldn't say that if LFL released a similar boxed set of all the Star Wars movies for the same price.

It's only "overkill" if you aren't a fan of the show.  I'm a little surprised that they're releasing such a huge set, but I loved the show when I was a kid too.  I'm not going to buy this set though since it's not worth that much to me.  A similar Star Wars set would be totally worth it though if it had the OOT fully remastered.

Who were the original Venkman and Winston voice actors?

Lorenzo Music (RIP) and Arsenio Hall, respectively.

They would later be replaced by Dave Coulier and Buster Jones, respectively.

I always thought it was funny Slimer became a good guy sidekick in the Cartoon.

Also hilarious they had to call it the real ghostbusters because of that other ghostbusters cartoon with the gorillla and the theme song "lets go ghost busters, lets go lets go". LOL

Slimer survived you can see him in the end of ghostbusters 2 which was supposed to hint there would be part 3.

That was a legal issue even during production of the original film.  The scene outside the firehouse where the workers are hanging the "Ghostbusters" sign (text sign - the No Ghosts logo was fine) was filmed three or four times with alternate signs because the legal issues still hadn't been ironed out by the time they got to filming that scene.

When the animated series was announced, Filmation pulled their old series out of storage as a blatant attempt to capitalize on the name, but Columbia found a simple way around them...hence, "The REAL Ghostbusters".

Actually, he's all over Ghostbusters 2.  He's in the montage in the middle of the movie.  He drives the bus that takes Louis to the art museum, and he's listed at the end of the main character sequence at the end.  His appearances can actually be attributed more to the success of the character on the cartoon series (where the name Slimer originated) rather than a look forward to Ghostbusters 3 (Aykroyd and Ramis only did #2 under duress).

Didn't Ghostbusters 3 end up as Evolution starring David Duchovny?  I read somewhere years ago that Evolution is what Ghostbusters 3 became.

Supposedly Ghostbusters three would have Had Chris Farley as the New Ghost Buster rumored until he died anyways.

II was fucking awful i only like part 1.  Vigo is the same dude as denethor from lord of the rings return of the king a cheapie horror movie actor.  and you have the guy from ally mcbeal playing a gay guy who steals dana's baby called oscar, lol.

Seriously there are a couple of scenes i found funny though, Rick Moranis thinking hes a ghost buster, and the return of the titanic was spooky.

Heh, I somehow doubt that Peter MacNichol's character in that movie was gay considering he spends most of his time making googly eyes at Dana.  =P
