Besides, this is your bar; I am merely passing through...

Its not my bar, it belongs to Jay.  The off topic section of this place for me is kind of like what the Cheers bar is for Norm.

Seeing as you only post in Off-Topic, that's like saying all Norm ever did at Cheers was pop in to use the restroom and leave.

I see your point and have alter my original post and your quot of it to make a more acturate comparision.

btw, the off topic section is more than just the restroom of OT.com.

I don't mean to be insulting or anything, but there is much more to this forum than Off-Topic and it seems strange that one who contributes to the entire forum (like Norm at Cheers) is being chased away by someone who uses such a small part of the site (like the restroom analogy).

I did not chase Bingo away.  I don't have the power, authority or ability to do that.  He didn't leave after a conversation with me, he left after a conversation with Darth Ender.

I can't keep Bingo away and I can't force him not to come back.   I can say if I owned this forum he would not be allowed back, but I don't own it.  Jay does.   I highly doubt Jay would ever ban Bingo.

It seems to me that there is enough room for us all here and if someone disagrees, then that person should be the one to go.

all I can say that there are some people who shouldn't be on the same forum with each other.

Perhaps I ought to be the one to go, but I won't go easy.

Loving this analogy, seeing that Off-Topic pretty much is the restroom of this site.  An often amusing and at times extremely baffling one, but a restroom nonetheless.

With Warb's "Christian Thread" serving as, perhaps, the broken seat-cover dispenser?

Seemingly it must be a very large restroom...and what are we all doing having so many diverse discussions herein...and do not the other patrons think it odd that we keep returning to catch up on the latest comment hastily scribbled upon the wall...? ;-)

You can think of it as restroom if you want, I will going thinking of it as my hangout.  I hope you saw that I readjusted my analogy.

I think it might be wise to just add you to my ignore list.

This is pretty much the place where at various times we all come in to take a dump, and instead of doing so quickly and getting out, we hang around with our pants down and try to say clever things about random subjects to those in adjacent stalls.  We often have to speak loudly to make ourselves heard over all the other random comments being made, as well as the sounds of fecal and gaseous expulsion happening all around us.  Distinguishing between the gems of insight and the cacophony of fecality can be difficult, but for whatever reason we just keep coming back.  ;)

call it a bathroom if you must, but I do not and will not see it that way.   The off topic section of ot.com is a special place to me. it is my hangout/put/bar.  It is not a restroom.

I would rather suggest it to be the rumpus room (is that still a place?) of the SW bungalow...it is where those of us who do not necessarily obsess entirely over Star Wars might enjoy the ability to visit with those who do...

Exactly. Red's too good a colour for the likes of him.

I think you need to examine the reasons/attitude behind needing to Ignore anyone who says things like that.

No, I don't.  I didn't just put him on ignore for this post.  It was multiple posts, he has convinced me that he is a troll and I no longer wish to read his posts.

To be fair, Darth_ID has been targeting him lately, seeking him out in threads where he has no contributions to make and simply wants to mock whatever contribution Warbler made.  Want proof?  Check out his pride in the ignore thread where he boasts about how he was skillful enough to make Warbler ignore him.  Just check around, he's been mocking specifically Warb just for the sake of doing so, I know the behavior I did it when I was in junior high.

While Darth Id seems to be a decent guy most of the time, he becomes rather immature and disrespectful where Christianity is concerned. While I don't agree with him or appreciate the way he chooses to express his (lack of) beliefs, I can bear with him. For more sensitive posters like Warb, though, I think it's best if they just put him on ignore.

I think if the restroom analogy was akin to the restroom scenes in Suits it works out rather well actually. I mean if you've seen the show you'd know that they put a lot of varied dramatic scenes set in the restroom. Kind of fits off-topic in a way.

from my perspective, which I know most will disagree with,  the off topic section is the Cheers bar, the rest of the forum is in that restaurant on the 2nd floor.
