I was all completely ready to pre-order one when I saw the prices. I mean, if I had an extra $125 dollars, I'd get a copy without even thinking, but who here is gonna shell out $750 for a signed copy. (holds breath)

Hey look, a bear!

Ralph McQuarrie is awesome, but I'm not sure if I'll be getting this book anytime soon though.

Even if it Is sheathed in gold printed black sheepskin. If it ever comes down to a reasonable price I think I'll get it but that is just rediculous, No matter HOW good the book itself is. And as far as signing goes what's the go with Tony Daniels? Am i missing something here. Maybe if it came with a replica 3po head or something it'd all make sense...

*sigh*

At the risk of sounding too cntroversial, I am so over McQuarrie.

I dig his stuff, but parading around his work like he's Michaelfiggingangelo is ridiculous.

The film industry, especially Star Wars, has become so self-congratulatory...he painted some paintings for some movies that became hugely popular...he didn't cure lepers or anything.

Jesus... 125 USD + 70 USD shipping to Europe? As much as I would love to have this book, I'll pass.

jeezus. WTF? "Parading around his stuff?" It's an art book.
"Among many things I have to be thankful for are you, the fans. I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. But take that passion and devotion and channel it into a creative project of your own."

If your not into this particular book, a few years back (2002) this guy released a DVD with interviews and stuff which covered the career of McQuarrie. (maybe there is a re-pressing in mind) From the way that DVD was handled, this book will provide a grand view of an amazing career (seeing how his practicle work influenced the SW universe should be presented like it never has before in this book), and it's while i've picked up a copy.

No problem. Wish I could afford it right now. But it's gonna have to wait.

We're all very lucky the suits at 20th Century Fox liked what they saw in Ralph's paintings and gave Lucas the green light aren't we?
And in the "it's about damn time!" dept. Hasbro is making figures based on McQuarrie's designs!
