Is there a ‘deliberate artistic reason’ that the Dianoga music is absent for quite some OT releases now? I don’t know for sure but I think it’s already missing since the mid-90s, the THX VHS release? So it’s probably not a solely problem of the Special Edition. Maybe someone here can give some insight on that issue.

Only in the early German versions? That’s mind-boggling. Too bad that this music piece is missing because it augments greatly the tension & atmosphere when the dianoga grabs Luke und pulls him unterwater.

The SE (mis)places it during the extended Mos Eisley reveal. I think the scene works well without any music, much like the Empire duel I’m used to hearing it like that and wouldn’t have it any other way.
What I would consider a worthy extra is a reel that has the edited cues re-instated and/or scenes that were recut to presented in their original form with their unedited cues (like the Sail Barge assault).

Since i grew up in Germany i’m used to hear the Dianoga music. It’s basically imprinted in my mind so to say. And everytime i see the Trash Compactor scene without it, i feel something is missing. But that’s solely a subjective matter in my case 😉
