Anyway I am way too young to know rock albums. Even vinyl albums predates me.

I bet I'm about your age or younger, and I have a somewhat extensive knowledge of classic rock.

 Yeah, same.

You two didn't get the joke here...

And you can both have a gold medal in knowing "classic rock" more than me. I am into Jazz anyway.

Do you know what the word joke means?

I guess it really didn't classify as a joke but rather as a sophisticated humour. Too sophisticated, judging by your serious reply.

You also made an error in your original statement.

I did not.

You might want to look for a grammatical error and reassess the situation.

Nice try.  This reminds me of that time you completely missed the use of sarcasm, then tried to claim you just don't acknowledge it.

You must be a blast at parties.

Sophisticated really should have about twenty quotation marks around it. It wasn't a joke, it wasn't funny, and it wasn't sophisticated. Also, given the things you say with complete seriousness, how were we supposed to know that this comment was an attempt at humor?

Oh, my bad, you're just an asshole.

Well it kinda defeats the purpose if you have to specifically state that something is a humour.

You see Frink, this is an example of a personal attack.

Not that it came anywhere near offending me. :)

Not me. I'm just saying I'm caught in the landslide with no espace from reality :)

He just wants to make sure he sounds smarter than everybody else, and the lengths he goes to for this only diminish that.  I've put him on ignore because he has nothing to add to any conversation but (misplaced) conceit.

You guys need to open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It is also a failure at comedy when a joke is so terribly unfunny that no one can tell if it was even an attempt at humor.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up the Doors yet. Their debut album is easily, in my opinion, one of the greatest rock albums ever.

^ I used to agree but 'Morrison Hotel' has started to inch ahead of it for me. Oh and speaking of LA bands from the Elektra label, this album is genius too...

The Doors aren't but Jim Morrison is. "Ride the snake, to the lake" yeah, that's right up there with Shakespeare. But set to a 12-minute apocalyptic drone from Manzarek and Co it sounds like totally far out and deep man!

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

That's ok. Not everyone is born a Doors fan :)

My appreciation for the Doors stems from the fact that while they were "trippy", they put out some really good music, and showed great musicianship. Each member was extremely talented and good at their craft. Even when they'd play some very trippy stuff, and Jim Morrison would be extremely wasted, they still sounded great. Jim is one of the few singers who could make drunk gibberish sound good.

Yeah, they are a little pretentious, but what 60s group wasn't pretentious?

Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, and John Densmore are musicians that people tend to overlook. Jim didn't want to be the focus of the group, but the singer always gets the attention.

Jim did get way more attention than lead singers usually get, though.

At the risk of indulging in a story with no point...

Jim Morrison went to my university. I had the fortune of taking classes from a Professor who actually taught him! Eighty-something years old and still smart as a whip, with a hell of a sense of humor.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

It's actually kind of funny, but Jim fought being the poster boy for the band. The more he shunned that spotlight, the brighter it seemed to shine. He really wanted to be treated as a poet instead of a rockstar. I'm of the mind, that if you don't want to be a rockstar, don't play rock n roll.

There are countless musicians who are like that, who become bigger for not trying to be big. Then you have people who would give anything to be famous, and will do whatever it takes to achieve that. That's why you've got your Lady Gagas and your Miley Cyruses dressing skimpy and causing a bit of controversy to get the masses to look their way. Both, I'm sure are very talented, but their gimmick outshines their talent, to the point where the people that might've appreciated them, have already decided they don't like them. So they focus on selling to that lowest common denominator.

If you have any doubt of Lady Gaga's talent (and I'm no fan, btw), you must not have seen her perform at the Oscars last night.  You can say anything you want about her, but you can't say she can't sing.
