Okay so this is a thread for people who have seen the original and the directors cut...
try not to spoil anything in here for people who havent seen it...

heard a lot about this movie lately and im really interested in seeing it now.

my question is this.

1 - which did you think was better?
2 - which version should a person watch if they're watching it for the first time?
3 - can the original version still be bought on DVD or has it been discontinued?

any help here would be great!
thanks guys

Warriors! Come out to play-ayy!

I haven't seen that movie in 20 years, I think. Cool flick, although with some of the outfits they were wearing it's almost like it was written by a NY Times staff writer...probably the same guy who spent the 90's coming up with reasons why teens were wearing flannel in the summer. GOD.

Don't care about the director's cut.....I have my original DVD and I'm sticking with it.

I hate the whole director's cut bullshit anyway. Thanks to that assclown, Lucass.

at least they made the original cut of the Warriors available on dvd though...
unlike star wars...

as for the game is being done by Rockstar Toronto... Rockstar being the same people who did the Grand Theft Auto series...
it's released sometime in October..

as for the changes between the two i heard they're are many audio and music changes as well as scenes taken out of the movie replaced with some sort of comic book looking fades..
dont ask me what that means but i read it on the warriors uk site

This movie had an infamous reputation back in the day. (Fights breaking out at theaters showing or something.) When it aired on HBO during Halloween in my town back in 1981, the local cable company blacked it out because the city council feared it would inspire mischief! The irony is they put Cinemax's feed in it's place and it was showing a teen sex comedy with more nudity than I'd had ever seen at that tender age. Talk about mixed messages!

Where were you in '77?

The original was running in heavily cut form on Spike tonight. I'm itching to see the new version.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

i think the original version has prolly been deleted from paramount's dvd catalogue (at least for the moment), but it still shouldn't be too difficult to find sealed copies. you shouldn't have to pay a "collector's price" for it, considering that it was still on the shelves at best buy, circuit city, etc just a few months ago.

there's an upcoming remake of The Warriors directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun, Man On Fire, Domino, etc). http://www.warriorsmovie.co.uk/remake/

i haven't seen The Purifiers, but it sounds like it might be of interest to fans of The Warriors. or to fans of the Van Damme "Street Fighter" movie. http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/purifiers.php

OH. and another Walter Hill (director of The Warriors) movie -- Streets Of Fire. i recommend that. it's goofy as hell and totally entertaining... just like The Warriors. http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/streetsoffire.php
