Batman (1989) is the best live-action superhero film of all time.

Low bar.

“The Anarchists are right in everything; in the negation of the existing order and in the assertion that, without Authority there could not be worse violence than that of Authority under existing conditions. They are mistaken only in thinking that anarchy can be instituted by a violent revolution… There can be only one permanent revolution — a moral one: the regeneration of the inner man. How is this revolution to take place? Nobody knows how it will take place in humanity, but every man feels it clearly in himself. And yet in our world everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”

Batman (1989) is the best live-action superhero film of all time. The costumes, cinematography, art direction and score are all incredible, and Keaton is the best live action Batman. I also love the reveal that the Joker killed Batman’s parents, making their relationship more personal than any other version.

Ditto.

I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I have just finished watching the fifth season of Supernatural, and I personally feel like it should have been the end of the series. I’m not even interested in watching the subsequent seasons, because the season 5 finale is too perfect for me, so I just want to stick with it and pretend nothing else happened after that.

This has always been my opinion and I’m glad someone else came up with exactly the same conclusion. I think a TV movie about getting Sam out of hell would have been just fine too.

I don’t think I’m gonna watch the final season of Stranger Things. In hindsight, everything after the first season has been adventures in diminishing returns, coasting on '80s nostalgia and that first season to keep afloat. But the emperor really has no clothes. I have no investment in this show anymore.

Also, I loved Kate Bush before this show was a blip on the radar. The civilized keep alive the territorial war.

This is my problem with pretty much all pop culture these days. It’s all about the 1980s.

Me too.

Stranger Things did improve my opinion of ITC Benguiat (the title font). It’s got just the right amount of “edge” and swoops to it so that it doesn’t feel gimmicky.

Most of it is but Star Wars prequel nostalgia, lord of the rings and Matrix, or Jurassic Park aren’t 1980s.

I always thought of ITC Benguiat as “the Pulp Fiction credits font”.

I barely remember what happened each season after the first. It’s like the same story over and over: weird shit happens around town, some 80s references drop, then everyone fights a CGI monster (with Eleven doing most of the actual fighting). Rinse and repeat.

As many people have already said, Stranger Things should have been an anthology series. But it’s just too commercially irresistible to return to the original hit cast.

It is wrong to assume that your digital movies will be preserved by the studios, who recently cancelled films as tax write-offs and deleted films from digital collections. The only way to legally own a film is through physical media.

Disney erased Willow tv series from their service. Its never going to be officially on Blu-Ray either, they’ve only encouraged piracy.

It’s weird that sometimes piracy becomes the most effective means of preservation.

The Mcguffin in Dial of Destiny is the worst in the Indiana Jones series. And i thought aliens sucked as a Mcguffin in Skull.

The idea might not be terrible but in execution what a let down.

After watching LOTR again recently I realized I had a spicy one, Two Towers and Return of the King are too redundant compared to Fellowship and would be better off as one movie, making the trilogy only 2 movies like the original pitch.

The Star Wars Prequels are well written and well acted, even Jar Jar.

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

I didn’t like Mando it didn’t feel like Star Wars to me. Good show and enjoyable but it feels like Star Wars adjacent, but so very far away. Its more like one of those old EU things that wasn’t a part of the main story, like one of those books on the Bounty Hunters. or the criminal underworld in one of the anthology books. You know like a show that happens and exists in that world but doesn’t have Skywalker’s Jedi or Sith. At least until Luke showed up,lol.

The show i want will never be made the Luke Skywalker series set in between Return of the Jedi and Last Jedi. Now that Rey is going to rebuild the order Luke’s story purpose is redundant and unnecessary, so too expensive to deepfake Hamill for a series and no reason to.

Honestly I don’t like how they started to tie The Mandalorian to mainline SW characters. It severly shrinks the Galaxy.

I did enjoy season 4. Both 2 and 3 were kind of coasting off the success of the first series, but 4 really did a great job getting me to engage with the story again.

Agreed. I have no interest in subscription based services that stream content to you. These companies can alter, edit, remove and even destroy films and shows based on how they feel about the subject matter at the time. Everyone should curate a physical film collection of their own before it’s too late.

I personally think that Lucifer (the TV show) should have ended with Season 4. I know that ending it with Season 4 makes God look like an asshole, but I personally believe that it is still better than what happened in the last two seasons. Season 4 had A perfect finale in my opinion.

I’ve never cared for the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy. And no, it’s never been due to Tolkien purism; until this past October, I’ve never tackled the original novel. Though reading through the novel (I own a single-volume paperback edition, and I’ve over halfway through) has made me like the Jackson films even less. What saves the movies are the casting, production values, and score; it certainly isn’t the direction or script, which has little of the subtlety, poetry, and wit of Tolkien’s writing.

Cinema is not disposable entertainment. It is a serious artform with the ability to move people to tears, make people laugh, ask meaningful questions about ourselves and make us question reality.
