Slapstick isn’t funny. It’s entertaining though.
Romance is stupid and unnecessary in movies unless it is crucial to the plot. (Is this unpopular?)
I don’t like most musical films. They’re just too cheerful and romanticises a historic era sometimes, and probably most appeal to middle aged mums. However, there are some musicals I do genuinely do enjoy.
Fan-service is god-awful bollocks and ruins the aesthetic of a film other than to please horny teenagers. That ruins a lot of anime. Please, young-adult oriented anime where the female characters aren’t sexualised and look like a bug-eyed Disney character please?
I’m bloody tired of Every. Single. Fantasy. Story… taking place in a world modelled after medieval Europe. Like, how about a world modelled after imperial Asia, or… ancient Mesopotamia. Or, god forbid, pre-contact America?! Just stop trying to be like Tolkien.
What the flying fuck are the good plot advancing reasons for sex scenes other than to please the bloody audience?!
Terminator 1 had a sex scene to explain how John Connor was conceived to keep the time loop stable.
Okay, THAT’S an exception.
Another opinion, a lot of the ‘first old stuff’ are drastically inferior to the layer products. The first half of A New Hope is boring, Please Please Me is mediocre (though Twist and Shout is great) and Honey Ryder is a shit character. She’s a fucking coward, she does jackshit in the entire fucking plot! And God please keep some fucking clothes on her. WHY THE FLYING FUCK ARE PEOPLE PRAISING HER?! I mean, she’s not the worst (Mary Goodnight can go fuck herself) but she PALES in comparison to the later girls. Tracy was fantastic and at least Pussy Galore ahem was fully freaking clothed.
Fucking objectification, people! It’s been a problem since the bloody 30s!
I have a lot of cringe posts from years ago so if you see one, be a kind fellow and keep scrolling.
