Just watched the Star Wars episode. Fascinating look at how Kenner undertook the creation and manufacture of the original Star Wars toys. I was shocked at how organic it all was. They were just a bunch of toy company employees working in an office building. I really thought it would be more scientific and organized. Different world back in 1977.

Some very interesting pieces through the OT years. I was surprised at what the most valuable/rare/coveted is (no spoilers). The wooden build for the Millenium Falcon vacuform mold is really cool. Interesting stories on how it all came together. I’d picked up bits and pieces through the years, mainly from you guys, but this is the actual artists and builders telling the history. Worth a look if you have Netflix.

If there is a way to watch from other countries, I’ll come back and update.

I watched this the other day too. It was pretty neat. I also watched the He-Man episode which was just as interesting. I had no idea that He-Man was created as Mattel’s direct response to the crazy success of Kenner’s Star Wars line. They even called him their “Star Wars killer”! No spoilers, but Skeletor’s inspiration is mind boggling, and truly scary. They only scratch the surface in the show, but a quick google will turn up the full morbid tale!

It is a fascinating series for sure. The Star Wars episode was great; reminiscent of Plastic Galaxy. If you plan to watch the rest of the season, the He Man episode has a few f-bombs and the Barbie episode has some of the more risque points of Barbie’s history; no big deal for adults, but if you have kids you may want pre-watch the episodes first. For some reason I thought a series about toys would be a bit more kid friendly, which was kind of silly because it’s not really aimed kids. Just a wrong assumption on my part but my girls were shocked when they learned about Barbie’s checkered past.

The opening theme states that they are 8 episodes, so hopefully season 2 will be here shortly. I would love a Transformers episode.

There are supposed to be four more episodes for this “season” uploaded… sometime. Supposedly one of them is a Transformers episode.

A great Documentary…brought back good memories and reminded me of all the cool toys my mom through out over the years or gave away to good Will😂😂😂
Like that remote control R2-D2 with the crazy annoying bad sound effects-lol…or all my Kenner Star Wars action figs one of which was the jawas with the vinal cape, darth and luke with the dual telescoping light sabers-SMH.
On a positive note regarding R2-d2, Sphero’s version is spectacular as they just released the ability to code additional functions if you download the app…
But yeah, the documentary is definitley a blast from the past to look back on…5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think the next few are LEGO, Star Trek, and Transformers?
