Also. I don't want this thread to devolve into another political argument. Leave it in the "it's official" thread.
So, back on topic.

I really hate it when loud obnoxious people swear and scream and the top of their lungs in public.

I don't know if it's been mentioned in here yet as I skipped out on this thread for a while, but I hate parents who think they can take their kids to any movie under the sun. A Chicago reviewer said that his showing of Team America: World Police was infested with children. Didn't the parents pay attention to the fact that this film was nearly rated NC-17?

Probably the same kind of parents I caught with a 5 and 7 year old in Bad Boys 2, or the mother who asked if she could send her 16 year old daughter to see Freddy vs. Jason by herself because the mother doesn't like horror movies.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

oh man, that reminds me of something. I found this as more one of those messed up things parents do than a hate, but if i were these kids i would have been hating it. So im working a trade show in DC on saturday, its basically a health food show so you have mainly store owners coming to it (I work for a company that sells point of sale). So anyway, a lot of these store owners will bring there kids, which is all well and good, but this one lady had like 5 kids in tow and i would say age 4-8 maybe. So you know those kid leashes that you sometimes see parents have on their kids? Well this was kinda like that but instead she had 4 of the kids with strings tied around their wrists and tied to each other (so left hand to right hand, and they were 'chained' together like this) and they were walking behind the mother, well besides the fact that it really didnt look like the mother was making sure her kids were following (which they were) from booth to booth the youngest kid wasnt tethered in, i guess she trusted the 4 year old the most. And then they almost leave the kid because 3 of the 4 kids start walking while the other one is trying to get the youngest kids hand but is getting pulled away.

anyway, i dont know what the point of telling that story was, other than it just seemed wrong to do that to the kids, and it kinda relates to the crazy things parents do.

I never realised that PETA had gotten as militaristic as that stupid Oprah Winfrey woman in their views on veganism.

I hate veganism.

In Oz we have the RSPCA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. These people are true saints.

I love Kittens too.

So im working a trade show in DC on saturday

Hey Simon, I was at that show representing with the owner of the store at which I work. Just thought that was neat.

I hate people who come to class unprepared for a test, and bitch about it like they are suprised. I hate it more when the teacher pities the dumb jerks and postpones the test. Thankfully in college, this has only happened once.

I also hate that somebody stole all the Kerry/Edwards signs from the neighborhood I live in. How lame is that. I didnt have a sign, but next door this guy had two stolen. And there was a story in my local news/opinion paper about somebody having their Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers ripped off while he was in Publix...lmao...it just doesnt make sense.

Gonna agree with Darth Chaltab on this one, broken swords...only thing worse then a broken sword is not having a sword yet.

Oh, i hate that too, the fact that swords are so expensive is pretty shitty too

My father gets US news magazine. On the back of the last few issues, it has shown the cover of a comic that PETA actually distributes to children with a bloodied, frightened rabbit cowering under a fifties-style house-wife wearing a bloody apron and holding a knife, and in big red letters, it says "YOUR MOMMY KILLS ANIMALS." 'tis quite disturbing. See it here.

How in the hell can you hate an organization that distributes a comic book with a cover that's THAT FUCKING COOL?!?

I'm totally printing that cover on a t-shirt for the next time I get forced into going to church or something. Or go out for steaks... or burgers... or... or... steak. God I love steak. That's the coolest thing I've seen all day! (And who the hell wears fur these days?)

Seriously... sometimes the dementia of activists can be a very rewarding thing.
For as much as some people claim to hate what Star Wars has become, they sure seem incapable of shutting up about it.

PETA has extremists like any organisation I'm sure but for the most part I'm sure they're just seeking fair treatment for animals.

That link was a bit of a beat up. Animals do have rights, not to be tortued or mistreated.

I have a right to order a thick juicy steak be it Beef, Kangaroo or Crocodile (Emu's not that great).

I think I've eaten may way through the evolutionary chart except monkeys, cats and dogs, I may have eaten a rat I'm not sure, I have eaten at my fair share of Kebab shops.

My point is that no-one has the right to be cruel to an animal, and cows raised to be my dinner have a right to comfortable life and a quick death from a clean kill.

I buy free-range, non-battery-farm eggs and grain fed beef/lamb/pork from reputable breeders, some of whom I now know. Farmers are good people.

Jeez I was going to go on about milk and cheese, prawns etcetera but my point is that we meat eaters know that cruelty to animals is wrong and bad, even us Godless ones know that.

EDIT: left out an important 'not'

I used to go to the coutry side during summer vacations back as a kid/teen, to our family's old farm, and I watched a pig being killed to be eaten later. What really shocked me wasn't the screaming pig, or the blood and the organs coming out and running through the muddy grass, but the smell coming out of the pig ("I thought this things smell bad... on the outside..."). When that smell came to me I couldn't see anymore of it, I almost fainted. About 8 hours later, I was eating that pig, with no remorse. About a week later I've watched another pig being killed, but I stood still and watched it all. So, when people tell me "oh how can you eat meat, those cute little animals", I tell them that story: if I was strong enough to see it and eat the pig later with no problems at all, then I allow myself to eat meat, guilty free.

The problem with PETA is that the extremists seem to be running the organisation. I can get behind an organisation that promotes the prevention of cruelty to animals, but one that militaristically seems to say, "If you eat meat, you're inhuman and/or stupid," just burns me.

But not only that. They also seem to think that it's better for a group of humans to lose their jobs than to serve meat. And by definition of "right", animals have none.

From Webster's Dictionary: Right(noun): that due to one by just claim.

Animals can claim nothing, and there for have no rights. That isn't to say it is OK mistreat them...

I thoroughly disagree. Animals have rights. I'm not saying they can open a bank account and apply for a credit card but they certainly have similar rights to humans.

Just because they can't express themselves doesn't mean they're somehow less than us, no matter how tasty they are.

agreed, would one say that a mute person has no rights, or that a mentally retarded person has no rights, no. I am not a PETA person by any means, but i hate the abuse and mistreatment of life, including animals and other forms...

Either way. That's another reason I hate PeTA. They target little kids with disturbing ads like that one. When I was little, I only drew animals killing other animals.

abuse and mistreatment of animals is not OK, and killing them for food is OK; but one can still be humane about it. no need to stuff 10 pigs in a 1 X 1 metre cubicle.

Or to debeak chickens and stuff them in cages 1/2 the size of a milk crate. I remember watching a 60 Minutes episode where a woman diagnosed as autistic had developed a humane way of slaughtering beef cattle; it was actually really cool.

If I remember this correctly, it's leading the cattle up a ramp that gets progressively narrower to the point where only one cow can fit comfortably @ the end. At that point, the cow is struck on the side of the head with a bolt @ a particular pressure point, rendering death instantaneously. There were other details relating to the colour scheme and design of the ramp set-up that were meant to put the cow completely @ ease and pretty much leaving it not knowing what hit it. The whole point was that it wasn't a torturous method of slaughtering cattle.
