I love that Spring Training is about to start.
I hate that I just found out my dog has cancer and probably has about 2 months to live.
Sorry to hear that Warb. Our dog died of a tumor at 11 years old about a year and a half ago. She only lasted about 6 days before we had to put her down.
I can't stand sport.
I've been very physically active in my time, gone through periods of obsessive exercise and got a buzz of that but the idea of competition (especially physical competition), either engaging in it or watching others do it bores me senseless.
I can't even stand the word sport.
The sound of it.
Sport, sport, sport.
It sounds like a cross between a spot and a wart.
Or the sound of gas being pumped through hot mud.
YUK!
I remember as a boy having to sit in silence while the bloody sport was on telly when there were exciting cartoons or television adventures on the other channel.
I couldn't play inside because the sport was on, I couldn't play outside because we lived near a main road, so all I had was reading (so naturally I became an obsessive reader) but it was hard to concentrate on the words when there was some twit yapping on about who has the ball and the stupid drone of the stupid crowd.
Then there was the statistics of sport the tactics and politics of sport the constant yapping about who sold whom to where (sounds like slavery to me).
Even now when some taxi driver or barber tries to engage me in sport talk my blood begins to boil over.
It's people kicking things or running or hitting things or punching each other.
At least it wasn't soap opera.
Tedium, those little slices of sport, how I loathe them.

I hate that you posted this on my own dog's birthday (he's 13). I'm sorry about your dog, Warb.

thank you Frink and Gaffer.
Sorry to hear about your dog, Warb. :(
Bingowings: I completely agree with you. You know what's even worse? The fact that sports radio even exists.
This past autumn was awful for me, because I'm a student at the University of Alabama, and I live about two blocks away from the football stadium (aka American football, aka hand-egg). Which means I had to put up with this for four months:
Stephen Fry in America: Alabama (skip to 5:04)
thanks Nanner. I know she isn't a Person, but we still love her alot and will miss her when she is gone. In coming months my family will have some very difficult decisions. If it is not against your religion please pray for my family and especially my mother during this difficult time.

I have no religion but it doesn't mean I can say a prayer for you and your family. I have been through some very tough times in the past few years, and these things are never easy.
Remember whatever anyone may say about pets, they are part of your family too if you love them. It doesn't matter if they aren't people - they're still family.
thankyou Frink.
I'm very sorry warbler my thoughts go to you and your dog.
Dogs are people, they are doggie people and it's awful that she is unwell.
I remember when my cat Sherlock (his brother was called Mycroft) was knocked down early in the morning in the first week a new job and it was an intensely traumatic experience.
I was working through an agency at the time and rang in to explain why I couldn't come in, the people at the post I was working in were fine about it but I got a real ear-bending from the agency.
After my Macaw died I vowed never to have a pet again.
I've never kept a dog but there are so many around here, I think there are more dogs in our local pub than people you can't go in there without dog biscuits.
All my sympathies Warbler.
well, I have good news to report about my Dog. We took her over to the Veterinarians Hospital in Philadelphia. Despite what our vet said(that the tumor couldn't be removed), the vets at the Hospital were able to remove it. At least, they think they got all. There is no way to be certain. They tested the limp nodes and they turn out negative for the Cancer. So it hasn't spread to her Vital organs. They are going to do tests on the tumor to see if they got the whole. Will know early next week. So, at the very least, it looks like we'll have her a while longer : )
That's great to hear, Warbler! Hopefully things will continue to look up.

yeah, I hope so. We're not completely out of the woods yet, but its good to some good news for once.
Glad to hear that, Warbler! You're very lucky. Hope all ends up well after all.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Great to hear Warb! Best of luck going forward.
Same from the haunted labs of Chateau Bingowings.
thanks everyone :)

Fantastic news! Great to hear.
I hate Ric Ollie. He is pretty lame, just some stupid tired joke. He gives socks a bad name. Now the Crane brothers... their loss was a true shame for this community. Their potential was endless. Ric Ollie, jeez, he wasn't even funny to start with! And has just gotten less funny as time goes on.
I hate lame Ric Olie wannabes.
Can I agree with both of you?
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!
