I hate the need to politicize, or seek to politicize, EVERYTHING. Case in point: Churches burned in the south. No word on whether or not it's been racially motivated.

The press is saying things like this everywhere, and yet what never gets reported is that 4 out of the first 5 fires were in predominantly white churches, vs 1 black church.

Why do they seek to make it a political issue? White or black, arrest the idiots doing it and stop the sensationalizing.

Previews which automatically play before the main menu of a dvd. Just make them accessable from the menu, ok. (is there any way to disable these)

Warner and Paramount not listing the aspect ratios on their dvd's. (when they say widescreen, they don't tell you if it's 1:85 or 2:35 to 1)

The endless number of dvd releases that are advertised as "Collector's Edition" of some kind. (How many dvd releases out do you think are truely a collector's item?)

I hate those nearly-impossible-to-open hard plastic cases (usually small electronic devices come in them.) I usually let loose a vicious stream of obscenity whenever I have to wrangle with one.... even with heavy duty scissors they're a pain in the ass, and after you cut them the mangled hard plastic creates little blades that slice and poke your hands and fingers as you try to get whatever was inside out of the plastic prison.

I hate stickers and labels (like those found on the top, bottom, and side of a new DVD case) that are hard to remove and leave behind a sticky snail trail of what I like to call "clam jam."

I hate our ingrained ultra-PC sensitivity when it comes to racial, religious, and cultural issues. Sometimes, as a people, we don't want to call a spade a spade... because that might hurt every spade's fuzzy, precious feelings.

I feel your pain. I can feel your anger. Why do the stores feel the need to put THREE security plastic strips over the DVD case, which, in addition to being a motherfucker to open, it often causes you to mess up a case when opening it?

I hate (but secretly snicker through) university politics.

The University of Saskatchewan Students Union (USSU) wanted to switch theoir support from one national lobby group (CASA) to another (CFS), but CFS requires that they hold a referendum on the issue. The USSU would have done it last year, but didn't feel there was enough time to prepare for the referendum, so they held it in October. The students voted by a slim margin (52%) to leave CASA and join the CFS. There was much bitching and official complaining during the referendum, though, because of a lack of preparation, some illegal lobbying, and the fact that two members of CFS's Referendum Officiating Council were also heading up the 'Yes' campaign. Given all this, this week the USSU's Elections Board has recommended that the USSU negate the results of the referendum due to poor handling.

Now, the USSU wants to join CFS, but if they overturn the Election Board's recommendations, there could be legal action. On the other side, since the CFS does not recognize the USSU Elections Board, they see the referendum as binding and have already ratified the USSU as members, meaning that they can start collecting fees from the USSU, and if they hold out, there could be legal action. I laugh because I voted 'No', and had money on this very outcome.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha! That's hilarious! And it reminds me of Terry Gilliam's Adventures of Baron Manchausen.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Yes, I agree that recently too many trolls have flooded this forum - which, by the way, was never really troll free - but I have to disagree with you there on Jay don't caring about it. I'm positive he does, and what he has comented and done on the subject proves it. But still he is faced with a dillema: being this a free forum, who can judge if someone should be banned or not, or what one can post or not? I gotta say I've writtensome crappy posts before, does that make me a troll, or does that make me someone to be banned? Of course, there a re a few cases in which that person's presence is intolerable, and for these cases Jay has acted banning that person.

writing a crappy post every once in a while doesn't make you a troll. Writing clearly immature obscenity ladened posts that areb clearly and solely written to insult someone, and doing it over and over and over again makes someone a troll. Yes Jay has banned people, but he let one person come back the cleared should have been banned permanently. The person clearly has not learned his lesson a Jay has done nothing about him. Other trolls have joined and Jay has taken no action. Yes Jay should be very carefull and be slow to take action, but sometimes action must be taken. If you don't take action against the trolls, the trolls will start to control the forum.

I have suggested having a few areas where only selected posters would be able to enter, but Jay has pointed out to me exactly what I said, it's not fair to block someone from viewing certain parts of this site just because we want to close it to ourselves...

how bout we have certain areas, where everyone would be allowed to read, but only selected members would be able to post? Also I hate to say it, but I think this forum needs an age limit. I'd have it so only those who are 16 or older would be able to join. The would help cut down the childish posts that are increasing.

What you COULD do is to ignore the trolling and focus on what you want...

I hate it when people tell me that. That is what my parents and teachers told me to do with my bullies at school. Newflash, it didn't work. I am already ignoring one troll, but since no one else is doing same, it is not working. Ignoring them will only work if we are all ignoring them(for a long, long time), and I mean all of us. I say I shouldn't have to ignore them. They shouldn't be posting their s__t in the first place. Another longtime forum member has PMed me that he will be leaving the forum soon because of the trolls. How many good members will Jay allow the trolls to chase away? How much control of the forum is he willing to hand over to the trolls? I sympathize with Jay wanting to keep the forum as free as possible, but how far will he let it go? How freedom can be given to the posters before it goes too far.

I say it has to stop. I say Jay has a choice to make. He can have a forum full of mature intelligent posters with few limits on what can be posteds, or a forum of trolls with no limit on what can be posted. He can't have it both ways.

That's what the world is coming to. You can't have freedom of speech because people are so concerned with political correctness and things being offensive. I think Bush is having a bit too much impact on the world.

I pity those Muslims killing people over a frikkin cartoon.

too bad. Offending someone while trying to make a point is one thing, but posting soley for the reason of offending someone and doing it over and over and over again is another. I'm tired of reading deliberately, extremely hurtful, obscenity laden, extremely insulting, extremely immature posts. The people that post that stuff should grow up or get out.

Agreed. I don't post here nearly as much as I used to because it's become so hard to find a discussion not over-run.

I mean I mostly avoid all forums but the Off Topic one [OT, ha!] altogether.
