Hey, that's a good idea ! If I'm not the high bidder (and if it's one of us) I'll do that too.

-Edit- There's 9 hours left and I am the current high bidder. I'll come back tonight to be sure I'll win the auction

For those keeping track - Arnauld is the 3rd (and current) bidder on eBay.

Arnauld won the auction!

Awesome - congrats man.

Now the seller should send the price for first-class shipping & insurance to Arnauld.

You know, it would be really interesting to know how the seller got ahold of this item. I'm sure that there's a really neat backstory here.

16mm - Walt Disney's MAGIC & MUSIC w/ Un-Cut FANTASIA!!

Now I wish I had THAT much money to get it.

That's hilarious. Call Disney up, and they give you a curt answer and abruptly hang up? The product may be real, but he's full of hyperbole.

BTW, that script is so cool. Congratulations!

Given the circumstances, it's really for the bits with the black centaurette that people would go for this anyway.

Woah, I was gonna call bullshit on it having Sunflower in it, but damn. That's the first time I've ever seen color stills of her.

But the seller is an asshole. 1500? Screw you. Especially considering that he could be holding onto a master copy, spending a couple hundred bucks to get it duplicated, and selling the dupe.

I can't imagine that it would be that easy or cheap to have a dye imbibation Technicolor print dupe made. One would have to have separation prints made (if I'm not mistaken they have to be from a very good negative), so it's basically the expense of making 4 prints, one of them imbibation dyed.

Dye-transfer prints are very hard to duplicate, too. I think studios only do it if they absolutely have to. I know several 2-strip Technicolor films only survived as 35mm Technicolor prints. I'm fairly sure the surviving deleted material from For Whom the Bell Tolls only survived as prints. Thankfully, most 3-strip Tech films exist with complete camera negatives. At worst, some (like all pre-1950 MGM cartoons) exist as 3-strip positives.

Hmm...seems I was talking out of my ass, as usual.

It's a shame that this'll probably be about as close to an uncut version of Fantasia as we get for a long while..

Maybe if we all chip in like 50 bucks, we might be able to buy it.

I've seen this movie on YouTube, and would love to see all four versions on DVD. Does anyone know who I can get the Workprint, Calvert, Miramax, and Recobbled Cuts from?

I can be emailed at tygerbug at yahoo.com.

One day and two hours to go on the Fantasia film, no bids.

I'm getting word that the packaging for the new Weinstein/Genius DVD says it's P&S on the back.

No idea if it's a typo or word on what's actually on the disc. If it is, I'm just going to be more open about pointing people to the RC. They have to be completely idiotic to think the new fans would want some crappy P&S disc when they can get the bootleg with 100% widescreen. Geez.

Nice work!

For those who don't recognize the pic, that's from the Animator's Survival Kit, and depicts a very young Richard about to be yelled at by his hero, Disney legend Milt Kahl.
