Yes, woohoo indeed. Halfway through rar 3 and I really hope it’s done this evening. I’m about fed up with working on this, haha. 😃

I actually loved doing this project. It’s very fun finding ways to make it look better and actually getting it to work, and I’m certainly glad people like what I’ve done. But, like I said earlier in the thread, I’ve done pretty much all I can at this point and I’m loving where it’s at, so once the new upload is complete, this project is done for the time being. But who knows, maybe there’ll be some cool stuff that’ll make it better in another year, it happened once already after all.

Thanks! It would be cool if everyone gives final feedback watching the whole thing in motion. I am confident in its quality, but feedback on the image in motion is definitely appreciated. Haven’t had a chance to watch it all the way through myself yet, haha. 😃

Since I already have my own copy of the remaster I was able to make use of your .cube file to watch this using mpv (mpv.io) without having to re-encode my remux. Here’s the cmdline if anyone does not have access to the regrade encode but has a remaster version available to them:

mpv.exe --vf=lut3d=file=“luts/terminator.cube”:interp=tetrahedral “C:\Path\To\Terminator.mkv”

I really do feel like you captured the luster of the original film w/ your regrade.

I didn’t know you could use LUT files with mpv. How could I have lived for so long without using this feature?

It’s a nice built-in ffmpeg feature that mpv is able to use through it’s video filter access. It also makes LUT re-encodes w/ ffmpeg possible for those who’d like to do so with their source. The Terminator regrade was the first time I learned/used that feature 😃.

@Dek
Could you make your latest LUT available for download as well?

It would not have the selective correction that the new mkv has but sure. I’ll get on that some time today.

I’ll give you some feedback when my download finishes tomorrow. I’m too cheap to pay for MEGA at this point, so I’m limited in bandwidth 😛

EDIT: I watched the whole movie, and I have no complaints. It looked beautiful 😃

Got it downloaded last night, went to just watch first five minutes to get a rough idea of the quality. Next thing I know I’ve watched the whole film, first time in years just being hooked, not getting annoyed at the issues of the official release and enjoying the film as I remember. This is the visual/audio combination I’ve been ranting for, too every I know for years, I just wanted to watch one of my top ten favorite films again and I couldn’t as it felt like it had been lost somehow. When a Blu Ray official restoration is done right it’s like watching a much loved film, for the first time again. This feels like what the official disc should have on it, excellent work you have achieved with this project.

Would the DTS HD MA 2.1 (i.e. the original mono mix) sync with the UK blu ray?

If so, is there anyone kind enough to share the mono mix please? (I can mux it my own blu ray)

I don’t know if the UK is identical to the US. It needs a delay also because the mgm logo is cut out. PM me for the file though.

I’d love for my wife’s first time watching The Terminator to be this regrade. Just looking at the screenshots is enough to know this is definitive. Thanks for making your hard work available to fans, Dek! How does one get the MEGA link?

Looks GREAT, Dek! I’m super impressed with what you were able to achieve with your color correction, can’t wait to watch it all the way through soon. Now, if only the ADM extended edition looked this good, we’d have the definitive version of The Terminator… (hint-hint to fan editors out there)
