Yes you can.

No, it wouldn't be.

I tried to think of an example and didn't think of that one, even though I actually love that movie (despite its obvious flaws including its utter absence of pacing).

But Evie is the real protagonist of the film, and what a face hers is!  Plus, frankly I think the mask is a big reason a lot of people hate that movie...you know, along with the obvious flaws including its utter absence of pacing...

Iron Man succeeds because its an RDJ bonanza--the mask is worn during a very small fraction of his screen time.

Hell no I didn't see DREDD.  That's my point.

Well maybe you should then...it's really good.

I have a feeling I generally like movies a lot less than you do.

I have a shallow field of tolerance from which most Hollywood-type films are excluded.

The only reason I watched Iron Man and its sequesl--the only Marvel Super-dude movies I've seen--is because of RDJ's involvement.

Oh wait, I also saw the Hulk with Ed Norton.  However that memory is a little fuzzy due to my reactive bludgeoning-myself-with-a-hammer-to-please-make-it-stop-please the whole time.

So what would a man who hates movies know about what would work in one? In any case, DREDD isn't some big Hollywood spectacle. Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd certainly was but DREDD is a different beast altogether.

Anyway, let us not forget Frank.

Didn't stop Ed Norton giving the best performance in that film.

You really should, it's a great hardcore action flick 80s style (and not in the 'Expendables' pastiche way either).

You can do a lot with a voice. Bane, Darth Vader... er Phantom of the Opera? That's the reason why the redubbing of Boba is for me the worst change that Lucas ever made. It's his whole character.

The Man in the Iron Mask? I admit I haven't seen it, but the title seems promising.

I wouldn't say that a visor covering Dredd's face is quite the same as a guy wearing a bucket.

When Dredd is angry you can see it on his face.

But that's what Kasdan's wants to do. His idea is that at the start of the film someone who Boba Fett is hunting kills him and takes his armour. You never see his face, there by doing away with the whole prequels thing and any knowledge of the character.

It would be a great way to start the film.

To me that sounds terrible. I am very skeptical that they can do something new and interesting [in film] with the character.

And what of the fact that Boba Fett in ESB [now] sounds exactly like Jango Fett in AOTC?

A Boba Fett movie can still stay true to the OT while still respecting/ignoring the prequels, no problem, since he's a kid in the PT. They'd have to ignore the SE-DVD redub, but that's it.

Coming up with some elaborate move to replace the man inside suit seems like a waste of screen time and a waste of my brain space. As long as he sounds and acts like Clint Eastwood it's all good.

The Dredd movie would be a very good place to start for inspiration for a Fett film. Dredd does almost zero to make us like him, infact he does many reprehensible things. But you love him in the end because he's a man of principle, because he does nothing to make himself likeable and he's a badass warrior.

Also you couldn't go far wrong with Fett in a 'Point Blank' style one-man-army revenge film. Fett gets a job, he's betrayed by the criminal organisation that hired him, left for dead, the money is stolen and he spends the whole film hunting down those responsible, one-by-one until he's stood in front of the big cheese and asking for the 1 million space bucks that he's owed.

...or the Dollar Trilogy Clint Eastwood style......Boba is already modelled on him with his poncho & spurs

Twin Engines of Destruction is one of my favourite Fett stories. I'd love to see that translated into a film.

I'm also gonna say you might want to check out Dredd.  It's well-known that everybody thought it was gonna be awful, yet the majority was pleasantly surprised.  In my opinion, it's certainly better than Iron Man and V for Vendetta.

I remember thinking it would be amazing and watching it 5 times at the cinema but maybe my memory is faulty ;-)

It amusing trying to read this story as if it took place in the same universe as the PT. You've got Fett going to the trouble of wrapping himself head-to-toe in bandages when out of costume to hide his physical appearance when his voice should be a dead giveaway to his true identity.

So it turns out that Josh Trank, the director of the second standalone film has actually dipped his toes in that far, far away galaxy before...

Back in 2007 he released this little ditty:

Stabbing at Leia's 22nd Birthday

It's certainly...something....

I can't imaging going from directing a fan film to directing a real deal, official canon film.

He's living the dream of every fan film director right now.
