The Standalone Star Wars Films — Page 4

I am wondering what kind of visual freedom Lucasfilm and Disney are giving to the guys who'll make those standalone movies. I mean: do those movies really NEED to look and feel like the "EPISODES" or can they be just set in the Star Wars world but having each different directors own touch?

I would not suggest that a horror movie in the Star Wars world will be allowed of course (and I don't think I would like that sort of things), but how far those standalone can go from the classic way of filming that the "EPISODES" have? And should they detached themselves visualy from the trilogies, or should they keep a "classic "Star Wars look?

I think keeping an overall Star Wars "way of filming" is a must but that's just me. Let the faneditors makes the Tarantino cuts!

Well, the Ewok movies differ from the look of the OT.

The Clone Wars got into zombie territory a couple times, so a scary PG-13ish SW film isn't as unlikely as it might seem.

I'd love to see horror films set in the SW Universe. The TOTJ and Alan Moore comics often had horror visuals in them, and to see similar visuals in live-action films would be awesome.

From what I've heard, Lucasfilm has setup permanent offices over at Pinewood.

Is there enough studio space to go around in the UK these days? I'm imagining a reverse scenario of 1979, where the production of Empire was waiting on Kubrick to finish The Shining, as the Overlook Hotel sets took up a lot of stages.

If Kasdan is writing the Fett movie then it won't be the 2016 film right? Because that one already has a writer. But the other one (the Josh Tank one) does not have a writer, so it could be that.

This will surely end in tears. Fett is popular because he is mysterious.

Ô_o

What a weird title, there's no indication that it's done let alone real confirmation that it's a Boba Fett film.

I love that picture of Boba. It reminds me of why I used to be a fan of his.

Same here, that's why I included it.

But that's what Kasdan's wants to do. His idea is that at the start of the film someone who Boba Fett is hunting kills him and takes his armour. You never see his face, there by doing away with the whole prequels thing and any knowledge of the character.

It would be a great way to start the film.

That would indeed by amazing. It would also be fantastic if they canonized the OOT and re-designated the SE to be what its name implies. They'll have to do that if they want Boba in the OT to be different than Boba in the PT.

You cannot have a protagonist that wears a stationary mask the whole time.

It would be UN-watchable.

I disagree. It greatly depends on how they do the movie. Heck, he doesn't have to even be the protagonist to be the focus of the movie. If they did it right, they could easily get away with it.

I doubt they go against PT Boba.  I'd imagine they'll pick up his story in the years after ROTS.

I hope the entire movie is just a Lemmiwinks (South Park) type tale of his journey through the digestive tract of the Sarlacc.

Didn't they do that with the last Judge Dredd film? I didn't see it so I might be wrong.

Anyhow, I think it would work. Imagine a whole film where he hardly speaks and you learn about the character purely through his actions. Basically follow him on a really difficult mission - it would be great.

That sounds like a bad idea because it is a reference to PT. They should just refrain from making any references to PT so that those of us who ignore PT can continue doing so while watching this film. On the other hand PT lovers can connect the dots on their own. Good for both parties.

If they were to make a film focussing on Darth Vader's purge of the Jedi,....would you be expecting him to show some facial expressions?

I definitely think you could get away with a movie about a man in a helmet. Dredd is a good example, Iron Man as well (ignoring all the in-helmet HUD things, which is another possibility). Plus it serves the character; it's just who he is, to do anything else is a disservice to the character, as we saw in Clones.

Besides:

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

 You've obviously never seen DREDD.
