Man I hated that British dialect from the beginning of Rogue One, I don’t know who that guy was. Took me right out of the movie. Was it Scottish or whatever. I’m talking about the guy who Cassian meets in the streets.

Daniel Mays is from Essex which makes him even less Scottish than David Prowse 😄

I just interpreted it as an effort to show more diversity in the Star Wars galaxy, which I thought was a worthwhile pursuit. Chirrut and Baze were the first non-Nemoidian Asian accents, both in R1.

Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? none holds them up except Allah. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe. – Quran (16:79)

It’s possible. I was about to chalk it up to her having been raised by Unkar Plutt, but I just remembered that she has the accent as a child in the flashback. It’s something they play so fast and loose with that everything has to be taken with an enormous grain of salt, but it’s kind of fun to think about.

It’s a shame that dubs in other languages give everyone the same accent. I’d pay to see a French dub with the Rebels speaking with Quebec accents.

Surferdude Fed is to my knowledge the first non-Asian Nemodian.

Someone who rocks the boat, someone charming and interesting like Han was.

Someone American.

I always thought that the best accent for Han would be some kind of Irish accent, but this opinion of mine is based on what I’ve read in EU books, especially about Corellia and Corellians. The Corellians have always been portrayed as independent, adventurous and proud people, eternal explorers, who portray all the classic stereotypes of romantic ‘good’ pirates/smugglers, who like drinking, gambling, fighting, like profit but still have the sense of honour, that’s why they’re always on the side of good. That corresponds very highly with some of my personal stereotypes about the Irish people, and I find this image very appealing. (Hope none Irish is offended and sorry for mistakes – English is not my primary language 😃) That’s why I think that some kind of Irish accent would be a killer feature for Han.
P.S. And one more thing – in EU all Corellians love green 😉
